MTSkiBum 1,593 Posted January 22, 2019 At last month’s American Geophysical Union (AGU) meeting in Washington D.C., Talya ten Brink of the University of Rhode Island presented the results of a study of 25 commercial and recreational fishers who fished near America’s first offshore wind farm. Her preliminary analysis showed mixed attitudes towards the turbines. On the positive side, most of the fishermen noted that the structures acted as an artificial reef, providing more habitat for fish and increasing the fishing opportunities. On the negative side, commercial fishermen cited the loss of the fishing grounds near the wind farm during the construction period as being a problem, as well as overcrowding of the area afterwards due to the increased recreational fishing occurring. However, some commercial charter fishermen reported that they had a new revenue source by offering wind farm tours. https://www.wunderground.com/cat6/Offshore-Wind-Farms-Allaying-Concerns-About-Hurricanes-and-About-Fishing We should be building windfarms offshore. The windspeed is higher offshore and they benefit wildlife offshore. Wind farms on land hurt wildlife and are an eyesore. This is a win-win scenario. At least until people realize that nuclear and natural gas are the only two real options for the future.

tanatastic 2,061 Posted January 22, 2019 Global winding is real. We are losing wind and in 10 years there will be no wind blowing at all. We must farm as much of it as possible and donate.

edjr 5,546 Posted January 22, 2019 we have 3 of them not far from where I live. 2 are really close. When you get close enough, those fockers are loud. Especially when they are all on at once. they TOWER over everything. https://goodmorninggloucester.files.wordpress.com/2017/04/gloucester-wind-turbines-from-plum-island-copyright-kim-smith.jpg

Gladiators 1,900 Posted January 22, 2019 Is ten part of her first name, last name, or is it her middle name? Why is the t not capitalized? Until I know the answer to those questions, I have to believe the whole story is fabricated.

MTSkiBum 1,593 Posted January 23, 2019 $ per kw ? Like solar, those things are a useless way to pillage the treasury Texas is spending 100 million on offshore artificial reefs. Those do not generate any kw, I understand wind power is not the most efficient, but this would be a 2 in 1 scenario. Produce power and help fishing.

TimmySmith 2,782 Posted January 23, 2019 fixed also solar and wind power is ineffecient True, most of the reason wind farms exist is to rape taxpayers in the form of credits from the government.
