A few people ahead of me had big orders and I only order a $1.07 sandwich snacker. Well, everyone ended up waiting extra long for their food, but I actually didn't have to wait too long. Nonetheless, for my wait, they gave me 2 sandwich snackers, a order of coleslaw and a soda which I refilled on my way back to the movie. Course I was now stuffed. I took myself to a movie and dinner for a grand total of $3.06. Patriotsfatboy1 1,432 Posted January 28, 2017 One of those movies that I will watch again when it comes on late night (Goodfellas, Caddyshack, Animal House, etc.) and I really enjoy it. That is, until the next morning when I wonder why I watch it when I know what happens. I highly recommend it. BTW - some of the accents are horrible (Martin Sheen) but don't get thrown off. The story, connections and twists are worth it. ETA - turning off the Celtics killing the Magic and looking for something to watch... and I find The Departed on. trumpurethra 42 Posted January 28, 2017 Love this flick. As to the Oscar, it was a makeup. I mean the guy should have won for Raging Bull, Goodfellas, Taxi Driver, or The Color of Money. Plus even though they are not considered among his classics Cape Fear, Gangs of New York and Casino were probably better than anything else released those years. So yeah, they owed him one and threw him a bone here. Still, this exchange alone made it worthy. "That's a natural diuretic. My girlfriend drinks it when she's on her period. You on your period?" Mr. French "Hey! There are some guys you can hit and then there are guys you can't hit. Now that's not quite a guy you can't hit but it's almost a guy you can't hit. What did you want?" A lot of really good thrillers have come out of Hong Kong and Korea the past ten years or so. I thought The Departed was terrific and I'm surprised to see the negative response. The Departed >>> Payback > John Wick And I liked John Wick I don't watch that many movies, but in the last week I saw John Wick and Gravity for the first time, The Departed, and I'm watching Interstellar for the first time right now. And agree with whomever thought Sheen's Boston accent was absolutely horrible. It's like Wahlburg said about filming Patriot Day. He and the Director would listen to an actor (who had likely been working with a dialect coach for months) and, if they didn't absolutely nail the accent, just told them to speak normally. - Because a bad Boston accent is like nails on a chalkboard. Since then he started doing those gritty movies like shutter island and blood diamond i dont know the chronology off the top of my head without looking but I think blood diamond was before. but i liked that so if anything, his performance in departed made me watch some more of his stuff and not just relate him to Titanic. Perhaps it felt otherwise to some because there were so many big names (bog personalities) in the cast. I do think what you're saying about Marky Mark is funny because I thought his acting was absolute dog shiit in departed and almost ruined the movie. He's one of those guys who has grown on me but just funny because even though he doesn't need a Boston accent, I thought his sounded poor in the movie as well. Yup, Marty has at least 2 better movies and possibly 4 that would beranked higher. I put it in the very good category, but can understand people saying it's overrated, it won the Oscar but it's not an all time classic like Goodfellas & Raging Bull.
