I am a headhunter who got headhunted

I got a raise of 6 k recently. It made me happy and is going to put some extra cash in my check along with a commission structure. Along comes a guy. Says I'm from big name mcbigname and I have an offer. Were starting up the first non Dr non nurse staffing arm of big name would you be interested. I say sure. I'd listen. But I need to know if we're in the ball park salary wise. I tell him a number 20k higher than my salary plus commission. He came back and said he could offer more base plus a Cadillac insurance plan and wants to see my resume. Its roughly where I work anyways and that's a big leap for me and the boy money wise. I would be pulling for these jobs from a wide and diverse applicant pool.

 

The thing is I have 0 stress right now. No . I like going to work. Especially on days when the boys at his mom's. I have little oversight and as long as I get things done they could care less if I binge watched TV. They are super nice and I have enjoyed working for almost 2years for them. Plus it would leave them in a lurch even if I have 2 weeks.

 

I know I know rats ass but 5 years ago I was working nights at a comfort inn for 7.50 an hour. So this is kinda big for me

Guess some of it depends on your financial status. If youre even remotely in good shape i wouldn't take it. Having a job you like and have no stress is worth that bump.

Why stop the story at 20k? Why not just say they offered you 120k more?

Also it never hurts to talk to companies. My problem is that I get emotionally invested in the new opportunity so I almost always end up taking it.

 

Also, are you a headhunter or a recruiter? I consider a headhunter someone who is retained by a company to find people for specific roles. A recruiter is trying to place people without being retained.

 

Most importantly, in the new job could you slip out during the day to splooge on the back of an emotionally unstable hot chick?

Kind of my point..If the job is TOO easy..could they pay someone else to do it and for 1/2 the salary. Not diminishing what you do at all...whatever it is you do do that is. Just sayin. If you feel like you aint producing..somewhere someone might feel the same way.

Plus, change can be fun and exciting. Its a different world than our parents. Job hopping is expected

hey hey hey. She is crazy. Not emotionally unstable. Get it right.

 

I specialize in hunting passive candidates using 13k LinkedIn connections in my industry so I consider it more headhunting because I'm actively trying to steal someone's employee.

It also puts you one step closer to going out on your own.

 

Take the job, bring some people you can depend on with you into the new division. Make it a success and put youself in position to become a partner by heading the tech division of muckity Inc.

 

If they don't make you a partner after you build it, leave and start your own firm.

I was working with a guy who was head of all crafts for one company at a refinery. He was fired a few years ago from that position. I have worked with him a few times since then. He is probably making at least 60k less than he was, not including the company truck and gas card he had. He says he was miserable and getting fired was the best thing that could happen to him.

 

If you do not want more responsibility and are very content, do not take it. If you wouldn't mind more responsibility and it seems manageable, plus the new job will be relatively enjoyable, go for it.

Most of those guys run in the same circles as the C's. Ivy Leaguers, exclusive country clubs, etc.

 

The guy who ran the C division at Kenexa was a Wharton grad. He eventually become CEO of Kenexa.
