Nearly everything? I remember someone trying to get a bill passed that he thought would benefit the people of this country. There was no alternative proposed that seemed worth a damn at the time. Maybe there was some small movement to get some kind of alternative health care plan passed, but it wasn't gaining enough steam to become popular.

 

Allowing Children to stay on a parents insurance plan until 26, and eliminating the practice where an insurance company can refuse someone for a pre existing condition, those were two great wins with the Affordable Care Act. I also did appreciate the attempt to get everyone covered by insurance.

 

I have talked to a lot of people in the health industry that say Obama care was a train wreck for their jobs. I believe them. The plan was far from perfect, but I think a lot of us agreed with this at the time. We just knew something had to be done, and at least I had hoped passing SOMETHING would lead to revisions as we experiment and find the proper course.

 

The republicans have already set aside plans to just flat out scrap Obama care. That is a great thing. It means they can't just scrap it and set us back to the way insurance used to be. They have to actually address the issue and come up with a plan to replace Obama care. I think it's a good thing. It was an experiment that really didn't last all that long. I think the problems it caused were more like "first world problems".
