Keeper Advice - Who to cut, Watkins or Allen?

Recommended Posts

PPR league.

I have to cut one.

Kennan allen or Sammy watkins, who would you cut?

both are injury prone

both are young

Watkins is in a run first offense, with a QB that might not be there much longer. But he is the clear cut #1 option. Also, Watkins may be a free agent after this year and end up in a more favorable setting.

Allen, is in a passing offense, with a great QB, but there is a lot of competition for targets. Allen may not be in SD/LA much longer either as they just drafted a WR in round 1.

I am leaning on cutting Watkins, as Allen's injuries, a kidney and ACL are freak things that can heal as opposed to a broken foot that hasnt healed correctly in the past and required multiple surgeries.

thoughts, can I even make a wrong decision?

TIA

I would keep Allen.

I'd go with the young WR who has balled the most when he has played vs the guy who always plays on a bum wheel. Add in the better QB and it's Keenan Allen all day long.

Allen isn't even the best receiver on his team. Just a pretty good ppr option, if he even plays. Watkins at least has high end athleticism and flashes big time potential. Not just a possession receiver for an aging overrated qb.

When Keenan has been on the field he has clearly been the #1WR in this offence. Not just a pretty good ppr option, when he plays he produces at a WR1 level.

We are all waiting to know who is the best receiver on the Charges according to nuts....?

In a dynasty give me Watkins, a redraft or a keeper it is a tossup.

Watkins has the potential to be much better than Allen in the long term, but his offense is not as good in the short term.

I'll take Watkins. If healthy Watkins is an elite talent. Keenan Allen was valuable when playing because he was a target hog. With the additional weapons that LAC has added that is no longer a sure thing. The biggest know to me on Allen is his YPC. That means that he is running routes and catching a lot of balls close to the LOS which is where the biggest hits occur.

I thought it was common knowledge Tyrell Williams was the best receiver... He is so much more dynamic. Not just a check down possession receiver.

I own Tyrell in 2 dynasty leagues and would trade him for Allen in a heartbeat, I do not get the love for him by some of the posters here.

You obviously haven't really compared the two. So a person who can't even stay on the field to even score you points, you would rather have that guy than Williams, who actually showed he has skill to be used in a multitude of ways? I don't get that at all.

this is not in fact common knowledge. What is common knowledge is that when on the field. Allen is the clear cut wr1

No it's not... It's clear he is an athletically limited receiver who was the best option on a team without other receivers. Him and Williams haven't played together yet. The dynamic Williams brings with his athleticism seemed pretty obvious to me....

Who do you cut? Both. Are you sure you don't have another option?

or

Put them both up for trade. Trade the one you get the most for and keep the other.

I keep Watkins. contract year, maybe finally healthy, with upside I don't think Allen has anymore.

LOL... I just went to pro-football reference to verify Allen's contract status (because I wasn't sure if he was in contract year too or signed an extension). They have him listed as playing for the Ravens. I thought he was traded and I didn't know about it. Googled it and came up with nothing. Whew, I got scared there for a second. I have Allen in my keeper league and was planning on keeping him. If he went to the Ravens, I'd have to let him go and find another keeper.
