Trump walks out of border security meeting after Pelosi rejects wall pitch

Recommended Posts

Nancy Pelosi again. :dunno:

President Trump walked out of a congressional meeting with congressional leaders Wednesday afternoon over the partial government shutdown after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi again rejected supporting new funding for a border wall, according to those in the meeting.

Doesn't surprise me that he did... This is something that he really wants and the Democrats aren't budging... Yeah it looks childish that he walked out, but why waste time when they aren't budging in the talks?

Skeletor urged Democrats to "come back to the table." after Trump throws a fit and literally leaves the table. You can't make this stuff up. What an utter focking embarrassment this guy is.

I can.

The radical facets of each party are dictating the behaviors, common sense, reasonableness, rationality.....no longer exist in our political system.

I don't think wanting border security or a wall where it's warranted are radical ideas. Sanctuary cities and free health care for illegals is radical though. I think you're making a false equivalency in order to appear rational.

To be clear, I strongly favor increased border security. I'm just not sure a physical wall is the answer. But as I said in the other thread, Trump promised his constituents a wall and it is relatively inexpensive, so I err on the side of giving him a wall.

Seems the pragmatic thing to do is open the rest of the government and continue debating the wall on its own merit....no?

Democrats can't be trusted. This is too important for the nations security. We have to get it fixed once and for all. 40 years of talking hasn't resulted in a solution.

a lot of people use this "not sure if a wall is the answer"

You know who knows the answer.. border patrol and homeland security.

Those who question if a wall is the answer should ask them. They know.

Not Nancy, not chuck not wiff not mdc or even Cbfalcon

The guys who deal with it know.

That loser fake news talking point needs to be put to rest.

I think the answer is to make illegals ineligible for Welfare, healthcare, and Constitutional rights. I bet you'd see that if they can't come here and leech off of us, they wouldn't come here at all.

This is the dumbest hill to die on. For both sides.

Holding the country hostage for extortion money for a wall that wont get built. Walking out when he doesnt get his way. Chance of re-election is nearing 10% or less. Hes taking a stand, hes doing a lot of proactive things. I just thing hes not reading the room on this one, or most of them.

To be more clear, he promised us a wall we wouldn't have to pay for.

Sounds like you aren't confident in your position, but you feel hostages give you a small chance.

I agree with welfare and constitutional rights, not healthcare though. Can't have kids dying because their parents are here illegally.

Same concept, but I think the answer is to go after any employer that hires illegals and go after those employers hard.

If you just make it harder for them to get here without taking away the motivation to get here, they'll just work harder to get here.......But if you take away the motivation for them to come here, you don't need a wall or anything really. For example, we don't need a wall to keep us out of Mexico.

Immigration, both legal and illegal, is the backbone of America and has always been. Irish stowaways coming into New York, Mexicans from the south, the country is almost all immigrants. Trump is fighting a losing battle taking it on this hard. Oh and all the drugs come in by ship, they arent just walked over land. The wall would just waste more money when the new president has it taken down.

Hard stance on Muslim immigration would be more favorable as they are the real threat.

To be fair though, a wall would prob help and Drobs is right the border patrol agents are largely in favor of it.

Once the kids use our healthcare, make them property of American citizens, to be called upon for menial chores that we don't wish to do.

same with sanctuary cities...

Remove the motivation ..any governor or mayor who declares their city or state a sanctuary should be imprisoned immediately

Slippery slope. As soon as they cross the border, they become our responsibility to care for? But as long as they are on the other side, we dont care?

Or make them watch a porn movie starring Pelosi and Schumer if they want to come in.

Pretty bad azz move. I'm 100% behind this. Got better things to do than waste time at a meeting that wont deliver any results.

Now..when does it become politically advantageous for one party to give in?

Do the whole....."I caved for the federal workers who need to feed their families " thing....seems that could be a good strategy if played well.

So, bring back slavery?

It wouldn't exactly be slavery. They parents would be choosing that life for their children. It might deter them from coming here illegally.
