Is a kicker ever non droppable?

Recommended Posts

The idea a kicker is a kicker is fine for draft, but some prove to be more valuable than others as the season goes on. It's just really hard to predict who that is at draft time.

Short answer: no.

Long answer: don't drop Zeurlein right now, unless there's nobody else you can drop.

I'm holding Succop thru his bye. Can't recall ever holding a kicker, but take away the non Marriota games and he's been amazing.

I've been very happy with Butker. I'll have to make a similar decision once KC's bye rolls around.

I won't drop Zeurlein or Butker. start 2 kicker league. They're #1 and #2 in ff points per game.

I'm holding him also.

He's been awsome so far.

I can drop J Wiilams of the Packers whom I've been holding for just a reason like this.

I'm not planning on dropping Butker, who is averaging 13.5 pt per game (just .2 under Greg the Leg). Based on the byes and what my opponent has that week, I'll either eat the zero or find someone else to jettison for a week for stand in kicker.

I've had Justin Tucker on my teams the last three years.

Would never consider dropping him.

I reached for Tucker this year and nabbed him in the 10th round of a 13 round draft because I really wanted him. He wouldn't have made it back to me. He's that good. He has won me plenty of games and this year I tagged teamed him with the Ravens defense. I play in a limited transaction league (10 moves the entire season) so for their week 10 bye I plan on taking a zero for both and taking one in the rumpus. :shocking:

You mean the Justin Tucker averaging 8 pts per game and ranked 14th by game average? (technically 15th because Butker's getting 3 games he wasn't even signed on a team counted against him). I guess by league rules it's not a bad thing reach for a kicker and not have to play roulette, but that Baltimore offense it severely cutting into Tucker's prowess this year.

Greg Zuerlein has 90 points so far in my league, It's his bye. Do you drop a roster player and keep him? Next closest available players are 26 points less through 7 weeks. That's a 4 point advantage if he maintains it. Hmmmm

if my kicker is top 3 I wont drop him. I'll either drop a fringe backup to grab a Kicker, or I'll play without the kicker for one game.

My favourite trick is to target a kicker who plays late on Sunday (or Monday) if you can.

After the early games are done, do a quick check to see if you likely need him (or not) to win.

If the game is close, you pick up the kicker and drop someone.

If it's not (regardless of whether you are winning or losing) then I'd just play without the kicker.

Good strategy. Will keep in mind.

I did that too the first couple of weeks too while sifting through my roster and waiting for an every week guy to eventually show himself, and it can work great even over multiple weeks.

Week 1: Forbath, 12 points

2: Prater, 8 points

3: Tavecchio, 4 points

4: Walsh, 9 points

5: Walsh, 12 points

6: Butker: 8 points (settled in now every week)

you could really do this for an entire season and still be better than most kickers individually.

Agreed.

This is why (in my opinion) a kicker is non droppable only if he's top 3. All the rest are replaceable.

I like to do this with defenses, and have had a couple of seasons where my Defense by Committee outscored the stop scoring single defense by a sizeable margin. Unfortunately, kickers are an afterthought for me most of the time.

I like it! Been playing FF for a long time and never tried this.

Monday night is Denver vs KC right?

what I would do is keep Zuerlein, and wait to see my matchup scores going into Monday, and if I absolutely had to drop him to get a W, add Mcmanus and hope for the best, if you are down 15 or so don't bother

I have Justin Tucker in both of my leagues as he is Baltimores entire offense. Once Baltimore crosses into their own territory he pretty much has rights of kicking a field goal.

wait, again...this is the Justin Tucker averaging just over 8 pts a game and ranked 15th in avg pts at the kicker position?

I dropped my backup QB, Hundley and Smallwood to add a K and D and kept the Jags and Zuerlein. I will never start either of them and these guys are outscoring everyone by 4-7 points a week. That's like a 10 point difference on my competitors. It's like having Antonio as a WR instead of say a weak WR2.

I feel like Elliot has been one of the better kickers since he returned week 2. I get bonus for 50 yarders.

Will dump hopefully McFadden for a K

Zuerlein was dropped, but i'm not making a move. Elliot has been good and Zuerlein faces Seattle in week 15. McFadden is my most droppable but I need to wait for this decision on Zeke.
