Oh, for the record, I vote in favor of allowing the Walt Disney Corp. pick. Walt himself has been dead for decades, and the company continues to hit all time highs.

But it only counts Disney. Not subsidiaries.

Thats my vote.

As to the hockey thing, I vote let em all in, if they played in the NHL. mainly because I know

Should the Walt Disney Company be fair game as a Media Company pick: yes

Should it include all other companies that have been absorbed by them over the years: no

For the hockey thing, we are stuck with the rules that were first put in, if they had citizenship here then they are legal. I haven't found anything yet that says Howe had duel citizenship, but if Volty can find that, he can pick him.

I vote yes to Disney Corp. Walt has been dead for decades, the company continues to hit new highs. But does not include subs.

As to hockey, I vote any NHL player is ok. Mainly because I know nothing about hockey and have no idea where they are from.

Howe doesn't. I'm not saying I want him since I don't think he should qualify. Of course opening it up to al lNHL players makes things easier. I'll admit, Gretzky's secret US citizenship has me spooked as you can go through every Canadian in search of Gretzky-type loophole.

I said before I don't even know hockey and I want to just pick 3 guys and don't want to go thru the trouble. Its an American based sport, and I think a Canadian who plays for the Kings his whole career should count like an American who plays for the Blue Jays his whole career

As far as Disney I guess it doesn't matter, but it all comes back to the guy who started Disney, and thats the guy I took that started an empire

Think he is a fair pick for the Colonial Era category, whether anyone is going to be picky enough for it.

Then Colonial period is free for all ? I only say it because I specifically didn't take him for that reason. Especially that he didn't die here in America!!!

I think if you were the Governor of Virginia colony, you qualify for Colonial Era. Things that seem like they shouldn't count to me are explorers who visited North America but didn't actually do anything else related to the colonies and the development of what became the US (Columbus, Hudson, etc).

I guess me, Volty is taking a canadian hockey player

I didn't say that. I've said a few times that I'd preferred Chris Chelios (and thought all along Chelios was the #1 American player until I learned that Gretzky had acquired duel citizenship). Anyway, although some people had wanted to open up hockey to include Canadians, I am not/was never one of them.

It still seems as if that is unresolved as of yet. (2-2)

It's only if that argument wins and Canadian NHL players are allowed that I would want Gordie Howe over Chelios.

oh well then take whichever one you want, doesn't seem like anyone really cares, everyone seems to care about how slow things are moving. I say make a pick and move on, and if someone challenges it we can discuss later

I think we can move on tenatively if nobody wants a hockey player and resolve as we go.

I wanted and intended Chelios all along as #1 in hockey (pre-Gretzky eligibility), but I can't take him then have somebody come behind and pick Howe and everybody agree that Howe is an acceptable selection, as I also agree that Howe is the more desirable hockey player.

so Howe is your pick next, any issues?

No. You're the one that wants Howe eligible not me. He was clearly ineligalbe before. The only reason he is even on the table because you wanted to carve out an exemption for Canadians in the NHL category.

You're the one that opened the discussion, not me. I was only courteous enough to allow it to open. Now you're trying to ram it through/

The pick is hopefully Chelios.

I said I dont care either way, quite frankly the NHL is nothing to me anyways, and I would just google 100 top hockey players ever and give me any 3

you organized it make a ruling either way, I honestly don't think anyone cares either way

So then only Americans are eligable and the pick is

I cannot believe how much of this thread has been dedicated to a sport which is completely irrelevant in this country outside of a handful of cities.
