the 9th is columbus day so later in the month would be better anyway.

Week of 22nd works for me.

Jetblue doesn't have October up yet so I can't check the cost.

Pat?

If you don't mind a geek inviting himself I could possibly make that work as well,I'd like to meet some of you fockers but I do not golf.

BTW Ed I tried to send you a message,I got a question about a DJ gig I've been offered but your box is full.

Just using your season ticket D league example, I'd say no way. And I'm a basketball guy but how many games are you realistically going to go to? I bet it ends up bing fAR fewer than you initially tell yourself. Things will come up and "it's just the D league" will have you skipping a lot of games and wasting a lot of money. Can't imagine there is a very strong resale market for D league tickets. The NBA resale market sucks unless it's the premium opponents.

Personally, I'm consider myself to be the kind of person who doesn't keep myself from buying the things I want BUT I labor over finding the best deal possible. I test my golf clubs at golf galaxy but usually buy from a reputable ebay seller for much cheaper. When I go to the barlclays center for Nets games (maybe 5 a year) I buy good seats but I ONLY buy if the seller notes have all access listed. All access means a season ticket holder who opted for all access is selling their seats and all access gets you unlimited food and non alcoholic drink from 30 minutes before tip off until midway thru the 4th. We routinely "spend" 300 on food and drink when we go and it costs nothing. In some cases the all access includes alcohol for 30 min before tip. I hate shopping for clothes. When I find ties, work shirts, golf shirts, shoes etc that I like, I will usually buy more of the same in different colors or patterns but I'll use ebay and save a ton on the second purchases. Shopping online I always Google coupon codes for wherever I'm purchasing from first and can usually wind up with 10% off and free shippping.

I don't keep myself from anything i really want by reasoning against it, I just do a little leg work to make sure I'm getting a great deal.

Just irks me that their fans are always talking about all their BIG 12 Championships etc. when the truth is they've never had much competition, then they get to the tourney and usually sh!t their pants.Don't get me wrong I love seeing them lose(I'm a MIZZOU fan :( ) but to hear their fans you'd think they'd won numerous NCAA Championships.

I haven't bought a baseball ticket since 1995, and since 1996 have been to only one game in that time span and only because it was a Cub Scout thing..... I have never bought an NFL ticket, and nor will I, I will only go if someone gives me the tickets for free then and I assiduously avoid buying anything when inside.

Ha, true. But I'm not much of a gambler, least on that level. I go to Windstar (an hour away) for my gambling itches... But we've not yet got our MGA schedules and need to make sure when our Club Championship is - plus a few other things.

I'm not much of a gambler either in the casino sense. I may sit at a table for a few hours.

but I do love losing money on the golf course

I don't have a problem spending money. I put a lot away in my 401k and save some more on the side such that what's left over is pretty much open for use. However, I don't like to waste money. I don't just spend it to spend it. But I decided I wanted an Echo dot recently so I bought it, and threw in a couple of compatible AC controllers to toy with home automation. I like good micro brews so I enjoy that. My SPP gives me nice chunks of money a couple times a year so I use that for home improvement projects and larger purchases. If I don't have any projects at the time I just save it. So, no problem spending money but try to spend it on worthwhile things and not just waste it.

I'm horrible at using gift cards.

When it comes to spending my own money, I get "paralysis by analysis". Then I have to finally get in the right mood, and take the plunge just to get it over with, even if it means disregarding a lot of my research or not getting the best deal. <_<

I was just cleaning out my desk and came across a JC Penney gift card and thought wth I'll call the number on the back and enter the number just in case, $113.37 balance  I kid you not that card has to be 5+ years old.

Im cheap with day to day stuff that I really dont need which adds up. I save what I can. But for larger items I will have for a while I get quality stuff and dont mind spending money. I also am willing to drop a lot on events like football games or trips.

My ex gf was the other way around. Shed blow money on day to day junk she really didnt need then try to go cheap on say a new set of tires.

I'm a cheap mother focker. I'll drive past a restaurant or a fast food joint when I'm hungry to eat ramen or a $0.99 can of soup at home. Tires are bought at a junkyard, same as most car parts when needed. If there's a movie I'm dying to see, I'll watch a crap copy online rather than go to a theater and watch it on a big screen. I'll splurge on a big ticket item, only after waiting years for the price to come down.

Last splurge was one of them new "big screen" TVs everyone was talking about... last year. Got a 65" 1080p on clearance, at Walmart, for $470 something plus tax. That's a splurge. Looking for a smaller one, 32" or so, for the bedroom... which will likely come off of Craigslist at tax time, when someone else upgrades theirs. When I need clothes, first place I check is Goodwill in a better neighborhood. When I pack a lunch for work, it's usually something to snack on from the dollar store. Spend probably $5-6 a week on lunch while working 6-8 shifts a week. I actually buy lunch while at work probably twice a year.

While I do a pretty good job of saving money for a rainy day, I'm pretty liberal with my spending habits. Life's too focking short for me to be a tightwad all the time. If I want something and I have the disposable funds necessary to get it, chances are I'm buying it then and there.

I mean damn man, when I said I was cheap on day to day items that I may not need, I didn't mean I eat noodles for dinner and mints for lunch. What on earth are you saving your money for?

Do not tell me you had a tubed TV until last year.

I did. It was a 36", not some tiny little thing. Heavy as fock though. Saving up for stuff like electricity, water, gas, car insurance, got a vehicle that needs fixed or replaced... you know, stuff like that. Wife's got medical problems, piling up bills on that. Bankruptcy leaves me $179 a week plus overtime. Usually get 10+hrs of overtime, but no guarantees there. Some weeks I'll get 60+ hrs, others just under 40.

I've posted before, I'm just a few miles outside of the ghetto... in more ways than one. I'm in what used to be a good area, now it's below average. Whole area is low income, and low cost of living.

Clothes and beauty stuff, I need to have more of a problem. Literally everything else though, yes. I'm looking to organize the former stuff better, minimize new purchases, and put more money toward stocking up on food which is also mostly for vanity sake.

Damn you getting mad garnished on a banko plan? That focking sucks. Why are you getting raped so hard?

And was it banko due to your wife's health issues or something else? If you don't mind me asking. Not that it matters, I'm just curious about it but it's none of my business

Lost my job (downsized), got another at 2/3rds of the pay, then lost that one when the company folded. Off for close to a year before getting another low paying job. Wife then lost her job, took quite a while to find something part time. She then got her hours cut to about 10hrs a week. She found a better job, 30+hrs a week at Walmart. Yeah, Walmart was a step up. I had an accident somewhere in there and spend 4 months on comp at $680 a month income.

I've had 7-8 raises in the past 4yrs, and still make less than most here joke about as low pay. There's eight people in my household, half of which bring in zero income. One daughter has a job, another is on disability. We spent about a year going under at around $100 a week before we had to stop making house payments. We then filed for bankruptcy before we lost the house. Now, we usually have an extra $100 or so at the end of the month, until something goes wrong, like the vehicle I mentioned.

The wife's medical bills are new, not on the bankruptcy. We're in the hole an extra $5-6k from that in the last couple of months. And yes, that's with health insurance.

I guess I don't really have a problem spending money. Realized yesterday that I was off on Monday. Son is off from school as well. Long story short, Me, my wife, my son and one of his friends are going to Fort Myers Beach for a couple days. Flying out early tomorrow morning and coming home late Monday. 2.5 hour flight and gaining about 60 degrees in temperature.

Now I just gotta pull my speedo collection out of storage.

Actually yeah: I have a lot of trouble spending money. Even things I think I need that aren't all that expensive like a new pair of shoes for work shoes whatever, I am always thinking that the kids may need something or we'll have another unexpected expense for the car or house come up or I can eek a few more months out of what I have and its better to out that $ in the bank. I have a 5 year old phone for this reason.

Thanks for a great reminder that there is person behind every post.

Here is another story about spending money on tickets. My son is Ravens fan and wanted to go a game in BMore this season. I said, great they are playing the Skins we'll go to that one. Did I just buy tix? No way, I checked the tickets for months waiting for a deal. Called everyone I know with ticket connections. Finally bought the morning of gameday.
