Do you care who gives you your news?

I'm not talking channels but the person, or people.

 

Had this debate today.....I've seen this on local and national stations where someone is leaving the station and they have this tearful goodbye, their "fans" express sadness, a speech is done.

 

I argue that these people are not as important as they think they are....I don't care who gets me the news, if it's not you it's just some other person. Why do I care about someone reading from a promoter?

 

The flip side is these people bring a personality or humor or class to giving the news you like to see everyday. That it's someone you enjoy hearing and counting on every day for your news.

Before the whole age of computer it was a little more understandable. I remember caring about some of the news people when I was a kid. They were the main messengers for the community.

I think it's dumb that every local station has a meteorologist. Anyone could just check the weather channel then read the temp and rain chance on the air. Am I supposed to believe they are actually doing whatever it is that lets you predict the weather a week out?

I was switching around at 10pm last night and ran across Tucker Carlson on Fox. He had some black woman who was involved in politics; democrat, but she was intelligent.

 

He would ask her a question like "Do you agree with X who said 'The democratic party needs someone of color to lead them from here forward'?

 

She simply wouldn't answer the question. He tried to steer her right to it, and even said "it's called a softball, I'm throwing it very slowly, can you please swing at it"?

 

She attacked him and said "Why do you have to throw it slowly? Don't you think I'm capable of handling it?"

 

It drives me nuts. On one side, Tucker Carlson is clearly trying to extract a response (and often the one he wants, in order to drive a point), and she's not taking the bait, and it's a back and forth of retardedness.

 

Nothing get accomplished, she never answered a single question he asked, some of them were very straightforward; which she easily could have answered. But I see BOTH sides doing this, in order to drive a narrative.

 

This country is in FULL propaganda mode, and that scares me. Germany in the 1930's was in full propaganda mode; in order to gain public support.

 

I don't trust any reporter more than any other. However, you can see when you get a clearly biased person (Think Sean Hannity and then think Rachel Maddow), and to me I pay less attention to them.

I don't mind a confrontational host at all. In fact I prefer them over partisan hosts. I'd rather see these hosts take people to task and rip on them. Unfortunately you would never get any guests like that.
