Favorite Blues songs(with BLUES in the title)

Recommended Posts

Limp Bizsuck

Holy hell you suck at music. That tune is almost as sacrilegious as that Disturbed cover of The Sound of Silence that SUX cranks one out to.

I think certain songs fit the spirit of the blues even if the title contains the word blue-singular.

I hate "The Blues"

I know it's not a popular opinion, but I find it to be on the low end of musical intelligence.

Also it's basically a showcase for crap lyrics, bad vocalists and indulgent guitarists. :ninja:

not a fan

Eh. Music doesnt have to be technically challenging or multi-layered for me to enjoy it. It just has to make me wanna sing it, play it or dance to it.

Yesterday, I was doing push ups, crunches and leg lifts to VH.

This morning, it was karate with Ravel and Vivaldi.

Tomorrow, who knows?

Also, the wankiest guitarists in the world wont be found playing the blues scale.

Theyre shredding, sweep picking and tapping major scales in various modes that stretch the limits of their fingers and my patience.

Love this! :headbanger: Because it's great ROCK with a slight bluesy flavor / feel. Also it's very Thin Lizzyish.

And funny that you chose that title, I see what you did there

I've always looked at music and movies the same, there are popcorn offerings where I just turn my brain off and have a good time and then there are those offerings that make me delve deeper and really put some thought into it.I think that's why I love good dramatic movie sagas i.e. The Godfather and love progressive rock music.

I hear you, and can appreciate all you said.

I was generalizing in the same way someone would about modern Country Music (which also sucks lol) with the "pick-up truck", "the beer", etc. I simply can't stand any blues song that starts out "I was walking down the road the other day" (which seems to be about most of them) or uses the phrase "I'm a gonna leave you baby, goin' back to my Mommas", then has this massively long shart solo that sounds like every other shart solo I've ever heard, and sung by somebody that sounds like he drives a garbage truck.

I was going to say if I didn't know better Phil Lynott was on vocals.

R.I.P.

Man I loved Phil, and if it weren't for Thin Lizzy, I wouldn't like the blues at all.

OK, I take that back.......props to ROBIN TROWER as well. :headbanger:

Blues flavored ROCK, works with me. B)

I listened to rock and roll, rock southern rock and hard rock growing up.

When I started playing guitar, I started with straight up blues and gritty vocals cuz they were easiest.

But after awhile, I wanted to branch out from a standard 12 bar blues so I found myself going back to rock I grew up with, most of which was blues based.

Now, Im really into a lot of acoustic, singer - songwriter stuff.

Movie sagas are the best. I wish they still made good ones.

A lot of prog rock failed to register with me though. Granted, I love some of it, but much of it just isnt my thang.
