The Skinny Addition

Recommended Posts

I've been playing Fantasy Football for over 20+ years and won multiple championships in my league.

If there's a 10 point rating system on my football knowledge, i would be a 12.

So go ahead if you have any questions, i'll answer them with the best of my abilities.

I'll play along. Should Monte Ball be taken in the 1st round before any WR's or TE's?

Absolutely NOT.

Megratron, D. Thomas and Jimmy Graham are proven and ELITE players in their respective positions.

I have him at about 1,000 yards and 8 TD for the season.

That's good enough for top 20.

gio bernard - where does he finish? is the jeremy hill hype preseason noise or a legitimate threat to causing gio to be less than a bordeline #1/Solid #2?

Also, which rookie WR's become startable options?

Besides getting kudos for self promotion, this seems like the definition of a little help board topic. Your literally offering a little help. I may be just picking a fight here so im sorry, im very bored at work/home.

As a side note, nothing to do with your personal knowledege but actually winning FF titles is almost 90% luck. Who you play that day, how the ball bounces, penalties, injuries, busts are all completely random. Also I see plenty of people on here that have played for 20yrs that still take defenses in rnd 6, draft 2 kickers, believe in cancelling out, dont understand relative qb value etc. Tenure means nothing. you either have the capacity to understand and adapt to FF concepts and theories or you dont and are stuck in your ways forever. Im a self proclaimed genius at FF, I understand the most advanced concepts, make the best by the book moves and can draft as skillfully as van goh could paint. I still whiff on half my picks, have never won my big money league of a decade despite the village idiot whos taken joe flacco and boldin in rnd 1/2 and always makes bonehead picks winning and making several playoff appearances.

Let's be real folks, Jeremy Hill got a ton of carries in game 4 OF THE PRESEASON. You don't give a prized player 20+ carries in a meaningless game.

Hill will play a role but i can't see him getting more than 30% of the touches in the back field.

Gio is a very talented back and 'IF' he can stay healthy, he's an absolute #1 RB.

I don't disagree. FF is 90% luck. My job here is to provide guidance on the remaining 10%.

I'm simply giving back and adding value to this community.

Sorry, that's how i look..

what ass razor do you use? I find gilletes to be too rough on my milky candy apple man poosy. Mach razors tend to hug the delicate He-curves just right.

I'll play along - Where do you rank the Rams Defense this season overall? Are they top 3 with the addition of Williams (for fantasy purposes) or are they being overhyped and their lack of a Secondary kills them? They do have a great return game (punt/kick) set up for this year with Austin.

Does Shaun Hill have a better season than Bradford would have?

Will the Rams exceed their sack totals from last year?

In half point PPR combined WR/TE, I have drafted these players, will any of them hit for WR 2 numbers? Rookie and 2nd year receivers have bad track records...

1) B. Cooks

2) Kelvin Benjamin

3) Marcus Wheaton

4) Josh Reed

Jordan Matthews is still on the Waiver Wire... Drop any of the above for him?

I have a big picture question worthy of your breadth of knowledge with consideration your many years of FF experience.

What implications do you see the new emphasis on DB contact after 5 yds having on FF this year......... and into the future if it sticks?

I have been thinking a lot about this myself and I think it could have both redraft and dynasty implications but I love having the opportunity to ask someone else who has a long window of watching changes in the NFL effect the FF landscape over time. Plus I think the question fits OK here with respect to the complaint regarding "a little help board".

I don't need razors.

Congrats on winning in your two team league...

12 teams

That SF offense have looked out of rthythm all preseason. I would avoid Kaep in week 1.

The Rams defense finished 13th overall in yards per game allowed and 12th in points allowed. With another year under their belt, i see a top 10 finish for them this season. Top 3. No.

Shaun Hill is one of the better backups in the league and can do a lot. I don't think he's as good as a passer than Bradford, but he does do a better job in commanding the offense.

I think B. Cooks is the only one with a shot at WR2 numbers. He should get tons of target with Sproles and Moore now gone.

This gives a big advantage to teams that pass effectively. I think Manning's passing yards record will get broken by Brees this season.

I also tailored my draft based on this assumption.

Back to the Rams Defense - What do you think of them in terms of a fantasy defense where you get points for sacks, kickoff and punt return TD's, Interceptions, yada yada yada.....

They face some creative offenses in 2014, but it was typically the best offenses they blew up the last two seasons. Where do you rank them in terms of fantasy? Every site has them in the top ten, and I think that's a given, but are they top 2/3, as some suggest? I've seen them as high as the 2nd ranked fantasy defense and the lowest I've seen them ranked is 7th. I don't think the Williams addition can be overlooked as he will blitz non-stop.

I tend to agree with this and took Brees in the 2nd round of a large dollar redraft. He has speed all over the field and wasn't happy about losing his "title" last season. Stills and Cooks provide speed and if they don't kill you there, they have size in Colston and Graham. Not to mention a trio of RB's and Toon/Meachem on the bench.

This was actually a test question. The correct answer is what you said minus Jimmy Graham. JG or any TE for that matter. should not be taken in the 1st round this year or the last 20 years.

I still laugh at friends who used to take Antonio Gates in the 1st round.

One other reason I don't like Graham this year is he just got paid. I've been burned by this theory a lot over of the years. I'm sure some disagree, though.

Why is ty Hilton being xrafted/ranked so low?

Because there are better options out there.

I got this sneaky feeling we'll get a real good glimpse of Austin this season in special teams. He'll propel them into a top 10 unit. But i would never draft a defense early simply because they are so unpredictable.

Gate's best season wasn't even close to Graham. Gate's best season was 1,100 and 9 TD. JG was 1,200, 16 TD. Name me how many RB ran for 1,200 yards and 16 TD last season? Will he repeat? Who knows, i say his chances are better than Montee (1st round expectations - 1,400, 13+ TD) doing anything special this season.

who will be a better bet this year and would be a keeper for next year?

Justin Hunter

Jarrett Boykin

Cody Latimer

Boykin -- More 3 WR sets this season since they really don't have a TE option.

Hunter -- I like him...but it's the Titans. 800 yards, 8-9 TD is what i think he's capable of.

Latimer -- Talented but too many elite talent to feed in that offense.

OK Carnac I'll play...

Here's the envelope... Best long term upside- Davante Adams WR GB or Charles Sims RB TB?

I like Adams situation with Cobb potentially leaving, and the fact GB does well with early round WR's, but not liking his 4.56 speed. Sims can surely play (saw him in the WV game at TCU last year), but will be coming back off an ankle injury to a potentially crowded backfield.

Or I could go Door #3 with Derek Carr.

In a league that gives return yardage and P.P.R. will Patterson and Harvin be top 5 at the wide receiver position?

I would keep Hunter.

What's with you and speed? Derek Carr got the look and arm of a potential young stud. Broken ankle is not an easy injury to come back from and i'm not sold on any WR that runs a 4.56.

List the top ten running backs for P.P.R.

How many point(s) per reception? That could make a big difference.

Name a surprse Q.B. to finish in the top 10 this year.

Ben Roethlisberger - That uptempo offense flashed some serious potential during the final 9 weeks last season. Take that final 9 week avg and dude could had thrown for 4,800 yards and 35 TD.
