No, I'm not talking about the San Andreas Fault or Oldmaids vajayjay. I'm talking about the states sanctuary laws. It seems at least one community has some sense of right or wrong.

A city in California has voted to opt out of the state's so-called sanctuary laws.

The city council in Los Alamitos, a city located in Orange County, voted 4 to 1 earlier this week to opt out of the law, CNBC reported.

"This is important for us, for our city, for our community," Warren Kusumoto, the mayor pro tempore of Los Alamitos said ahead of the vote.

Kusumoto talked about the importance of the local measure, citing "a conflict between two governing documents - the Constitution of the United States and the state constitution itself."

 

The city's mayor said he has received calls from other city council members and mayors that are "interesting in being part of this."

"They really want to know what was the process and are trying to get advice on how to go to the next steps," Mayor Troy Edgar said.

In order for the order to take effect, a second vote must be held, according to CNBC.

Yeah, we don't have to follow federal law but how dare you defy our state laws. Typical focking California.

 

These are the same people that decided that the state environmental regulations were too restrictive for their bullet train boondoggle so they opted to go with the less stringent federal environmental regulations so they could continue with the project. Of course, private companies aren't allowed to do that though.

Orange County has some of the most conservative cities in the nation (I live in one of them). This is true. There are also a lot of conservatives in the north east part of the state. Unfortunately, they're leaving in droves. I think I read somewhere that 100,000 people left the state last year. I'm sure most of them were conservatives.

I wouldn't say that's completely true. In the primary cycle, I'm forced to vote with the democratic party, as the republicans won't let us caucus with them. As such, the republicans candidates in the general are usually the bible thumper/pro-life far-right types that independents don't like. We tend so support more moderate conservatives (ie. Kasich in the last cycle).

San Diego County is narrowly blue as of the last few years. Lots of military and similar demographics of Orange Co. but the urban area has tipped it into blue.
