JTB 52 Posted November 25, 2015 If you had to align yourself with one of the 3 political parties in the USA, Independent, Democrat and Republican, and vote for a presidential candidate from a DIFFERENT party who would be your choice? I'm a registered Republican and would vote for Hillary. In a weird way I think she would have the staff behind her where she could be a successful president. Never having an independent President it would concern me with who would be part of the staff. You?
Frank M 181 Posted November 25, 2015 I'm not a registered Democrat, but in general I vote that way. I would vote for John Kasich in a heartbeat over any Democrat. Dude could put the country back on track within one term.
Mungwater 588 Posted November 25, 2015 I'm registered as an independent and don't vote in national elections, how does that count?
Voltaire 4,555 Posted November 25, 2015 George Washington wasn't an independent? Also we don't have three parties, we have two horrible ones. Independents are people who think they both suck. I'm an independent who's voted Dem four straight times for president. I really want to vote GOP next year but suspect they'll give me a poo candidate since the decent ones are stuck at 2%. The hypothetical answer is GOP but honestly, I still don't know who I'll vote for.

He was, in some books I've seen that one of the reasons he stayed on for a second term was to keep the newly formed parties out of the office.
JTB 52 Posted November 25, 2015 An independent is an individual politician not affiliated to any political party. I did and do realize. I was hoping for some leeway and not have to list each 3rd party separately. I chose Independent, is 3rd party better?
Voltaire 4,555 Posted November 25, 2015 I did and do realize. I was hoping for some leeway and not have to list each 3rd party separately. I chose Independent, is 3rd party better? The system can only be played by the two parties. A third party candidate only jacks up the major party candidate closer to himself like that dillhole Nader did to Gore. Now I may well vote 3rd party this year because I don't want to help Hillary defeat Trump any more than I want to help Trump to defeat Hillary so I may just say ' fock it' but I do that knowing its a waste of a vote. I liked Ron Johnson last time much better than Obummer but I voted Obummer anyway. Why? Because Obummer was so much better than Romney. If I have candidates I dislike equally like Trump/Hillary only then will 3rd party becomes an option.
IGotWorms 3,302 Posted November 25, 2015 I'd vote Kasich and likely Rubio over Hillary, even if I weren't required to for purposes of the thread
MDC 5,878 Posted November 25, 2015 I'm a registered Republican and I will almost certainly vote 3rd party because all the candidates with any realistic shot in 2016 focking suck.

I have no problem voting for the least sucky candidate. That was what Gore over Bushtard and Omummer over Romney were. I'm just having a devil of a time figuring out who that is this time. JTB 52 Posted November 25, 2015 So, is Kasich a better choice than Hillary for those who have a 'R' next to their name? If yes, then Kasich could, in theory, be the best candidate for ALL.

Kasich is the best candidate left. None of the good ones poll over 2% though.
JTB 52 Posted November 26, 2015 Kasich is the best candidate left. None of the good ones poll over 2% though. By good what do you mean? I am seriously trying to find the best candidate for everyone. Both parties are so damn left or so damn right that, in my opinion, little ever gets done. Having a more centric "leader" could bridge this gap. I mean, no one candidate can be everything to everyone but there should be a President who at least has some common ground between all.
