Thornton Melon 542 Posted February 16, 2018 I think most of the songs Weezwr has created, save for a few good hits, are jawdroppingly putrid Nope. I just listened to Pinkerton on the way to work this morning. I hadnt listened to it in a few years. Still great....

Thornton Melon 542 Posted February 16, 2018 First two are masterpieces. Everything after that is...different. Yup...smatterings of goodness since the turn of the century, but generally downhill, and certainly bottoming out with this latest offering.

I think they suffered from that thing of having your whole life to write your first one or two albums, then six months to write your next one. Their genuine angst and emotion had already been used up. "Island in the Sun" is okay, and nice, but there's nothing really there.

I liked Maladroit better. It wasn't bad; it showed a return to a harder edge, but even then it seemed to be just missing the "feel" of their 90s work. Since then, they've become even more formulaic and insignificant. There's nothing quite like 90's Weezer, that's for sure.
