Yea, except he made that comment right after the team picked up the ideal 3rd down back in Mewelde Moore, who just happened to play for new OC Arians in Pittsburgh. The knock on Brown has always been the inability to pick up the blitz on 3rd downs, so this sure sounds like coach-speak to keep Brown happy. Brown also is said to be less-than-ideal between the tackles, which is the strength of Delone Carter and Vick Ballard.

I'd love to see Brown as a three-down back, but drafting Ballard and adding Moore (added to the "book" on Brown) sure don't make for the warm-and-fuzzies.

Indy is just one of many Backfields I plan to avoid at all costs this year when drafting..

this truly is one of those situations that no-one, not even the coaching staff knows whats going to happen..

I'd take him late if I was desperate for some depth and that's about it. I'd hate to think I would have to start him. Never know though some backs come on strong after a couple of bad year first seasons. He'll have the chance he needs to make the most of it this season. It would be huge for Luck.

Wtf? Back to avoid? Any starting RB in the 8th round is a bargain. Especially an explosive runner who hasnt been given a big shot at playing time. He's on a ton of my fantasy teams.

Donald Brown is a steal. His ADP is around the 8th round. Let's keep the talk quiet. We don't want a hype train to get out of hand.

He's one of the few unchallenged starting backs in the league. Uncertainty about his offense and his general lack of skills are worrisome, but you can't argue with his ADP. I'd gladly take him over guys like Peyton Hillis I wouldn't be too excited about it.

How was this guy a 1st round pick?

I agree with your argument that a starting running back in the 8th is great value. Where you lost me was your description of Brown being an "explosive" running back. Explosive? That'd be the last word I'd used to describe Donald Brown's running style. Chris Johnson & Adrian Peterson are explosive runners. Brown isn't slow by any means but I've never seen the guy flat out run by defenders for a touchdown.

I actually like Delone Carter in the Indy backfield. He showed some flashes last season as a rookie but his fumbling issues were costly to his playing time. Probably going to be a full blown RBBC in Indy but if the price is right, I might buy.

Since Pagano said that Brown's ADP has climbed. Saw him and Starks going in the 6th at FFC. When Delone can be had in the 15th. Food for thought.

Starks & Brown in the 6th? Ha! Someone else can reach for these two guys & their "potential". Maybe one of these two guys becomes the next Arian Foster but I don't see anything that warrants this ADP as of yet. Both better have impressive training camps to change my mind.

I'll instead wait for the value of Delone Carter & Brandon Saine in the final rounds if I'm going to gamble on those teams running back situation.

Saying he is unchallenged is a bit strong. He will probably start the year as first on the depth chart but any slip up or lack of production and they will certainly turn towards other options relatively quick.

Sure, but unless they pick somebody up they don't have another proven back on the roster. Though if he's still sucking at picking up the blitz and jeopardizing the franchise, that won't matter.

The Indy backfield is gonna be a tough one to figure out this year especially with rookie QB Luck playing. Brown should get the nod as starter but he'll face 8 man fronts and team will wanna see if Luck can beat them. Brown has a daunting task ahead of him and we'll have to see if he's up to the challenge. If he's around in the 8th in my money league I'll take a shot at him. Don't think too many guys in my league see him as much of a starter.
