See, most of the Churches where I grew up are enormous focking tax free glitterpalaces with free gyms and pools for their members. And their "mission work" is basically sending their rich focking brats to camp. That isn't charity... that is a tax scam to write off your gym membership and your kid's camp.

After Katrina thousands of church organizations came to New Orleans and Biloxi/Gulport Ms. before some the news organizations and some goverment agencies got there. They came ready to sleep on cots in gyms with no a/c or electricity for weeks at a time. They came with food, clothing, baby supplies, and many other items that were donated from their communities. They came with good intentions. And we couldn't have started our recovery without them.

All my flavors are guranteed to satisfy.

So you've been bitter at life, and the world, since your late teens.

:sadbanana:
Obama really inherited a mess for his second term.

I'm simply saying that the argument of "It's in the constitution, thus that right must be defended" is silly.---cbfalcon

One of my oldest daughters trips was to NO after Katrina.

 Thanks.

Cracks me up that the posters who love to hate religon have no answer when it comes to charitable giving. They were nowhere to be found when the sh!t hit the fan here in NO. And yet they love to spout off on how they hate religon. And for those of you who do.......go fawk yourselves. While you did nothing, we came together as a community and a nation while you "cried for humanity" and felt our pain while watching CNN.

Maybe I'm naive, or maybe its because I have not been inside a whole lot of churches in my lifetime, but I've never seen a Church with a pool. I'm not saying they don't exist, but are you saying that is norm? I would think those are the exceptions. :dunno:

But anyway, let me pose a question to you this way. I've heard folks say that Churches should not be tax-exempt because the church doesn't represent what everybody feels, they don't spend the tax exempt monies like some think they should, and they should not be special.

Well lets flip it and let me ask this question. Should Planned Parenthood be tax exempt? PP is a tax exempt, non profit organization that also recieves federal grant money (something most churches do not).

If you want Churches not tax expemt, wouldn't it also be purdent and fair to make ALL non profit organizations not tax exempt as well? Or do you base such decisions simply on which organizations you agree with or not?
Disclaimer: I have no focking idea what I'm talking about.

Political Correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

I, for one, did more: I was riveted by how many people in that hellish cesspool of a city had priority #1 as stockpiling booze.

Maybe TBBOM is really a Gutterboy alias and he is seeing the baptismal font and mistaking it for a swimming pool. :dunno:

I'm certainly not arguing that it is the norm, but yes, some of the churches in my hometown had massive fundraising drives to build a "Life Enrichment Center" complete with workout facilities, a pool, basketball courts, tennis courts, and day care. I'm sure the next expansion will include a golf course.

As for tax exemption?

I think Planned Parenthood should be tax exempt, not because I agree with them, but because their main purpose is to provide a free or low cost service to the public.

I would even have no problem with the church's mission and various other charitable arms being tax exempt... but should they be tax exempt to build a massive glitterpalace and preach at each other? No.
