  1. Has FFtoday ever tried to put together an fftoday league? Maybe you already have one.... It would be fun to have a large league with many of the posters here involved. I've seen other fantasy websites rent the MFL software and then sell the leagues on their site. Any chance of fftoday doing this?

Who are your Top 10 PPR RB's?

I actually expect him to compete for the #1 PPR back. Think of McCoy or Westbrook. He is as good as either and likely much better than Westbrook was. Reid keeps talking up McCluster as their slot guy, but I think Charles will get most of those passes out of the backfield. It's why Smith, being such a weak armed QB, is perfect for the Reid offense. He calls a lot of very short passing plays and lets his WR's do the work. The only speed guy they have outside of Charles is Donnie Avery, or as I like to call him; The guy who never shows up when he's in my lineup. Avery isn't a great fit for that team, but may keep defenses honest. Charles is on my short list of players I can see hitting over 2,000 total yards in 2013. There is a legitimate claim one could make as him being the #1 prospect this season. The line is going to be improved, the defense and the offensive cast. I don't see many negatives with him. Agree 100% with whomever stated there is a huge dropoff around the 1.10 this year. You hit the tier two players pretty quickly. In some ways, it is an advantage as the tier two group is pretty small two. Do you want a tier one player and a tier three player, or two of the top tier two players? Tough call.

    Pierre Garcon

This year is the longest list of 'do not draft' players I've ever had. In a redraft, I'll take a shot on some of the players if they fall a couple of rounds. In a dynasty, I have pretty solid rules I live by; If they are on the 'do not draft list' they will not be drafted by me. Foot/toe injuries are scary in the sense they never fully heal, especially with the weight of the body pushing down on them 50 times per game and on an artifical surface. My dad broke his foot while jogging. He didn't do anything extraordinary, just put one foot in front of the other and it broke. It was down near his toes. He had to stop jogging permanently. This was several years ago, and maybe the surgeries are better now, but if you cannot jog, imagine how difficult it would be to run, cut and push off at the line. I expect Garcon to get his receptions this season, but have some doubts about what he will be able to do with them at this point. It is almost comical though how many people will put Garcon & MJF on their 'DND' list, yet there are already threads about Run DMC and "is this his year" all over the internet. lol
  4. Who do you believe is trending upwards and why? I'll list some below. Most are pretty obvious, but not all. Reuben Randle - The Giants cannot afford to keep Nicks AND Cruz unless one of them takes a mighty hometown discount. In Dynasty formats, I like Randle a lot for 2014. You may not get him in 2014 unless you trade for him now though. He can be had cheaply as I've traded for him in many leagues. Steven Jackson - In most league formats, I would not have drafted him had he stayed with the Rams. Atlanta is the perfect place for him. With their offense, he will be lining up and facing only 6 to 7 defenders on most plays, vs. the 9/10 he had to try and run on in St. louis. I don't think he's an early pick, but he may make for a top flight RB2 in redraft leagues. His receiving skills will likely be used more now too. Mike Martz new how to use him in St. Louis and I believe Atlanta will too. Percy Harvin - I loved this trade. Pete C. is all about speed. Playing on a natural surface is going to take away some of the pounding he took in MN and help his knees. Ponder really limited his potential in Minnesota. Wilson, with his scrambling ability, will hit Harvin for some long balls in 2013. He went from my 7th or 8th WR to my 4th, as of now. His potential in that offense is limitless. Danny Amendola - I am on record as saying I'm glad he didn't return to St. Louis. In our offense, and with missing 20 of the last 32 games, he wasn't a fit. In New England, he could be a PPR monster. His injuries were not the result of bad passes though, they were fluke injuries where he was tackled hard. I don't believe his new Division will be able to stop him. He not on my draft board unless he falls quite a bit, but he COULD be a WR1 in PPR formats with the receptions and targets he is sure to garner from Brady. Dustin Keller - He's on a one year deal in Miami. With Wallace and the new WR's, Keller should have plenty of open room in the middle of the field. He's a low end TE1 in my book. I don't expect a big season, but he is a guy I will target very late as I think he's being overlooked in a system that is built for the WR1 (Wallace) to get the first look, then the first check down should be the TE. Sanu - The Bengals 2nd year WR is another PPR guy you can target late and reap the rewards. I didn't think he would do anything as a rookie, and he didn't. He is very good in the 7 to 10 yard range and I think he will become the focal point after Green in 2013. He isn't fast, but he's quick in & out of his cuts. In Dynasty Leagues he is another guy I'm attempting to trade for. He plays like Houshmanzadeh. While he may never be a Superstar, he could be an excellent bye week fill-in player in 2013. Greg Little - I like him as a sleeper in 2013. With Turner solidly in his corner, he could put up WR3 numbers very easily, or better, this season. He came on at the end of 2012 and with Richardson fully healthy, he is going to see a ton of man coverage. His run after the catch numbers are pretty lousy, but he seemed to "get it" towards the end of 2012. T.Y. Hilton - This little mighty might has been going late in most new drafts. He is going to be a solid WR in the NFL and flashed his potential last year. He has WR2 potential in 2013, although I'm more comfortable with him as a WR3 for now. The potential for a very nice season is here. I like potential. Cecil Shorts - We saw him blow up last season. Once they realize Gabby is NOT the answer at QB, he could be what many Scouts envisioned. He was often compared to Hines Ward and since he played QB, he knows the position, routes and reads. Kenny Britt - Call me crazy, but I see a bounce back year for him. He is in his walk year, and we know people perform well in these situations. He has the size, speed and receiving ability, but he is NOT smarter than a 5th grader. Draft him with caution, but I suspect this will be the best year of his career. D. Moore - With Heyward-Bey out of town, and the Raiders surely playing from massive deficits most of the year, I see him getting a great deal of targets when the games are out of reach. He could be the most targeted WR in the 2nd half of games this year. Garbage points are still points. DeSean Jackson - He will be used in a variety of ways this season. I expect a high in receptions, yards and TD's. He will be used in the slot, as a downfield threat as well as in the backfield. Chip loves versaility. Pierre Garcon - I see Garcon as a very high WR2 with potential for low end WR1 production. When he came back from his injury, he looked good. An offseason of rest will help as will this being his 2nd year in the system. He's being overlooked. Reggie Bush - In PPR leagues, he is going to be a monster this season. If he stays healthy, and you average out what J. Best was doing two years ago in that same offense, his numbers would be almost unrealistic. If he were only the 3rd down back, he would be a worthy RB2 in PPR formats. With him being handed the starting job outright, he could end up with RB1 numbers, and probably should. I look for him to become the first option in the checkdown and for Stafford to rely on him heavily. With Backus retiring and Reif being moved over to LT, they are needy along the offensive line. This usually turns into a season of dump off passes, which I envision being the case here. If you own him now, keep him. You can't get adequate value in return and he has a couple good years left. Darren Sproles - I've seen him being traded quite often. His numbers were down last season, but he will bounce back. With them losing their RT and the defense transitioning to the 3-4, I see him being similar to Reggie Bush in the sense the dump off passes will surely be coming his way. He may not get the carries, but his receptions will make him valuable in PPR Leagues. I'm listing him here because so many people are down on him after last year and I believe you can get him much cheaper now than two years ago. Andre Roberts - He has become a valuable piece of the Cardinals offense. Stanton is only a stop-gap QB, but he's better than anything they had last season and he is well versed in the downfield passing game of Bruce Arians. I see him as a valuable WR3. They won't be running the ball often in the Desert this year. With no overly talented RB, and the fact that Arians does not like his RB's catching the ball, I see Roberts only becoming more valuable. Floyd will see some more time this season, but he looked really lost last season and I don't think he will push Roberts out of the way in 2013. Between being in a very solid passing system and Fitz commanding double coverage on every play, he will get his targets. Givens/Quick - One of these two is going to take a massive leap forward for the Rams. Pay attention to the pre-season. Our HC has always had a TE who catches passes and a WR who typically puts up WR2 type numbers. I think it will be a dog fight as to who this player ends up being, but one of them is going to break out in a big way. The early money is on Givens, but there is no doubt Quick is the more talented of the two. Coming from a DII school, his transition to the NFL game may take another year, but he's certainly talented. There are numerous other RB sleepers and some very good TE sleepers too. Bennett in Chicago is a prime example as is Cook Jr. in St. Louis. Anyway, just my $.02
  5. The Rams nabbed Jared Cook Jr., which should be a boon for the offense. Signing Jake Long to a 4 year deal gives us our best Tackle since Pace moved on. Switching Saffold back to the Right and with Wells fully healthy at Center, we should be much improved next year. With two first round picks, we can address our Safety need as well as take another WR or Guard. If Cooper falls to us, we'll take him. Re-signing our DE was a plus as we have a great three man rotation. We're also solid at the DT spot. With 3 solid Corners, we're doing better than many teams in that category. Still, with Seattle and the 49'ers making very impressive offseason moves, we have not done enough. We didn't restructure a lot of contracts though, so we are fine going forward and there will be no Piper to pay down the line. Did anyone else notice how Atlanta is structuring their contracts? Gonzo is a two year deal that can end after this one with no cap penalty. Jackson's is for 3 years, but almost all the guaranteed money is in year one. Roddy White will be gone in two years. Baker's contract is front loaded and I believe Asante Samuel has two years left. If they don't win in the next two years, their window, they will be able to re-load fairly fast. Smart moves on their end.

    MJD

I say wait until the preseason. If the surgery didn't go well, or if there is still damage, it will show by the second or third game. If he looks good in the preseason, I think he's a solid RB1. It has been a while, but I recall some people saying he looked like he had lost a step before the injury, so that's something else to watch. In a dynasty, I don't know that I would draft him. In a redraft, he's worth taking a flier on. A ruined early dynasty pick can haunt you for a long time. Even if he plays well this year, his injury isn't going to be a non-factor. The carries will catch up to him and they still don't have a solid backup to take some of the load off. The fact they won't restructure or add years to his contract should tell you all you need to know about how management views him. They see him as a potential liability beyond 2013.

Could we have an fftoday league?

I received about 7 separate invites last night. I think they were all the same league name... I did log-in, but haven't had the time yet to come up with a team name or read the rules and scoring. I'll do so over the weekend. Thanks for including me. Madd - I would love to join you in a league somewhere. I like reading your rookie reports, as well as what the others here post. I'm looking forward to finally get a chance to hang out with you guys.

Who are your Top 10 PPR RB's?

Just my opinion, but I don't have AP in my top 4 in PPR Leagues. I think we will see some RB's healthy again this year and in systems geared to get the the ball through the air. In a standard scoring format, I have AP number one. Charles wasn't fully healthy last season and McCoy was out too. My top ten is changing a bit from week to week with free agency additions, but my top ten is apparently quite a bit different than the ones posted here. Same players, just very different order. I'll post mine after the draft. We saw the impact a top LT made with AP last season. A couple of teams would be wise to do the same this season considering they have great RB's who need more of an opening to run through. With two stud guards and 3 or 4 top Tackles available, not to mention Winston and some others are still on the market, the rankings could change quickly over the next 2 weeks.

Could we have an fftoday league?

I'm definitely in. I don't check this site every day, but save me a spot. I think it would be a good idea to post our league rules and scoring system at least a month before the draft so we know what they are and can prepare for it. Someone mentioned a league with 2 sets of 12 teams. How would that work? It would be nice to have as many owners as possible, but with 24 teams, would we draft each player twice or just have 6 man rosters? lol It is easiest to contact me at nikki63304@yahoo.com. It goes to my phone, so whenever we're ready, let me know if I don't see it here. What about draft timing? Not sure how everyone feels. I'm open to pretty much anytime, but prefer if we wait until the second or third week of the preseason. In dynasty leagues, it is horrible when you draft before the preseason and see your top RB or WR go down in the preseason with an Achilles tear. If you lose two of your early picks that way, your season is toast.

Could we have an fftoday league?

I don't play in any free leagues. Honestly don't see the point. I tried playing in some Yahoo leagues years ago, but as much as I love fantasy football, the free leagues have never kept my interest. The dynasty leagues I am in now are usually $125 per team. The redrafts range from $100 to $200 and I like to get in at least one larger redraft with a $250 to $500 entry. I have yet to decide how many teams I will run this year. Last season and the season prior, I was sick of keeping up with them by mid-season. Too many leagues will do that to you. So, I'm thinking I'll keep it around 15 leagues this year outside of the dynasty leagues I am currently in.

Could we have an fftoday league?

Hmmm, if I had my choice, a 1 ppr dynasty or redraft would be perfect. 28-32 teams? I've never played in one over 16 teams. Definitely a buy-in league. Free leagues usually have half the owners stop playing or paying attention once they are out of contention.

    Blackmon

In recent real dynasty drafts (not mocks) I have seen Blackmon go in the top 12. I think the draft will answer a lot of our questions. Jacksonville desperately needs a QB. I took Blackmon in my dynasty rookie drafts last season and will not typically consider trading him. I view him as a Dez Bryant type of player, but not until the QB situation is straightened out. Even with Henne, I believe he could put up high end WR3 or low WR2 numbers this season. Having MJD back should allow him and Shorts to both see less coverage. If you watched the games last season, many teams were using dime packages against these two as they didn't view the Jags running game as a threat. Blackmon found some huge holes, as did Shorts. With more men now at the line of scrimmage, I would expect them both find holes more easily this year. Again though, the question is who is throwing them the ball? Anyone but Gabbert is an upgrade. I've posted this before, but people tend to overlook Shorts. When he was drafted, Scouts Inc. claimed he would be the second coming of Hines Ward. He runs terrific routes and has an other-worldly release off the line. He is quicker than he is fast, but he finds holes in the defense and has deceptive speed. With the Jaguars defense being a laughingstock, these guys are great buy low candidates if you can get them. Blackmon though, seems to be on the dynasty radar of most owners. Getting him will not be nearly as easy as getting Shorts.

Our RB situation in St. Louis will be interesting. We have brought in the 4 highest ranked RB prospects for pre-draft workouts. That was a stunner to me. Coach seems to want Pead to win the job, but Richardson looked great early on last season. Don't forget about Galloway either. He is another favorite of the coaches. A couple of weeks ago, I would have said you need both Pead and Richardson as they will split time, but now, I'm going to say wait and see how the draft plays out. If we take a RB in the first few rounds, it will clearly show Jeff F. isn't sold on Richardson or Pead. He has said over and over the team needs a true battering ram in the mold of a younger Steven Jackson. If we do not draft a RB, I think Pead could win the job. His quickness to the hole is amazing and he's a natural receiver out of the backfield. Richardson has great vision though. There weren't many holes opened by our line last year, but he seemed to find them with ease. Pead had to miss the offseason last year because his school wasn't out yet, so this will be his first full offseason program with the team. I think he is the guy, as of today, coach wants to see on the field. Unless we draft someone though, we're in an odd position in the sense we have two very different style RB's in Pead & Richardson, but neither of them can do it all. Pead doesn't seem to be an every down back and Richardson proved he gets better as the game goes on.... So... As much as I hate to say it, right now, it's up in the air and we'll likely need the preseason to figure out who our starter is.

I would not take anyone in the draft unless they go to the right team and system. I do like Amendola in New England. He is pretty risky with missing 20 of the last 32 games, but I watched him play here in St. Louis and know he's a player with a ton of heart. In New England, he could be exactly as Wes Welker was. I would have no issues at all taking him with the tenth pick. Gordon is the most athletic of the group and the best WR, but he's also going to have Weeden or Campbell throwing him the ball. On another team, I would say he's a WR2 this season. In Cleveland, he's a WR3 with a huge upside. He reminds me a lot of Michael Irvin. Same attitude too, unfortunately. If we're only talking 2013, I'd take Amendola. I like Jones too, but if he continues to drop the ball, he'll be the 4th option. I would rank them as Amendola, Gordon, then Jones. Jones may have a better season because of the QB, however, if I read this right you are in a Dynasty. I would take a shot on Gordon over Jones as Cleveland will have a new QB in 2014. If Tavon Austin goes to a team that knows how to use him in the slot, he could be a fine little WR as well. If the Rams take him, I would say he is a WR3 right off the bat, and could finish in the top 25 WR's. If he goes to a team that doesn't use the slot receiver as much, he will be a WR4 with potential to be a WR3. Unfortunately, teams try to move these college guys out of the system they are familiar with too often. I don't know why, but they do it every year. Austin is too small to be anything more than a slot guy, but he could be a very very good slot guy. A team like the Ravens needs a solid posession receiver, so keep an eye on them if they take Hunter or Allen. They could put up decent rookie numbers in that offense.

Forte has only been injured one season in his NFL and college career. You are going to hold that against him? With his upgraded line and the new offensive minded head coach, I believe your reasoning was a bit over the top. Forte has been an iron man as far as RB's go. That said, it all depends on your scoring system. You pretty much have to start 2 RB's now. It's possible the Cowboys upgrade their offensive line via the draft and Murray will not take so many hits. His history is shaky though. Never had a single season in college or the NFL without an injury. Morris I like, but have to wonder why the Redskins were trying to sign Reggie Bush this offseason... Are they not convinced Morris is the answer? I think you did ok in the trade as you should have 2 healthy RB's all season. If you can get a WR with the 1.10, you may be ok, especially if your league is one that awards RB's more points. Also, someone claimed CJ will could be the top WR in fantasy for another 5 to 8 years. Highly doubtful. If he is the top WR for the next 8 years, he's going to go down as the greatest to have ever played the game. The Lions had better upgrade that offensive line (which currently has holes at both tackle positions) and keep Stafford happy. I like CJ as much as anyone, but don't think this deal is as bad as it is being made out to be. Cobb should be a top fantasy WR this season and Sanu may become the posession receiver in Cincy. It's a risk, but again, it depends on your scoring system.

    Is it time?

If your league plays week 17 Championship games, you should find a league that doesn't. If changes your entire draft strategy. Peyton Manning has played in how many week 17 games? Usually only a partial game, or less. Same for many players. How can you call it a "league" or name someone the "champion" if you aren't facing their squad at full strength? You can't. This debate seems to come up yearly and each year someone has posted the stats of the "studs" who only played a quarter, half or just under half the game. If your normal QB averages 25 points per game, but only has 10 in the final game because the team isn't concerned with winning, you have a conundrum. For the teams that do play their players in week 17, how many of their Superstars actually "play" the entire game? Many teams use this as a showcase for their younger talent, like the Giants did with Reuben Randle last year. Same for the Packers the year before when Flynn lit up Detroit. He had a career game, but unless the Rodgers owner cleared out a roster spot for him, his owner had to use another, likely much lesser, QB. Beating a team at full strength is what makes you the fantasy champion. Beating a team with more than one player who has little to play for, or will be used sparingly, is nonsense. Where is the fun in that? I want to beat the top team with their top roster.

    Is Marvin Harrison HOF worthy?

You said above there are "at least 10" WR's currently waiting you would vote for over Harrison. Who are they? I'm curious. Second, you have said 3 times in this thread he would step out of bounds at the 1 or 2 consistently instead of "taking it in for the easy score". Can you post some youtube links or something to back this up? I have watched a ton of Colts games as Harrison was a WR I targeted most years in fantasy football. I can only recall one time he went out of bounds when he may have scored and that was because Peyton threw the ball towards the sidelines and Harrison caught it and couldn't slow himself down enough to change his direction. I'm not a huge Harrison fan, but from what I've watched, this doesn't ring true at all. He was injured multiple times in his early career for going over the middle and making some spectacular catches. I would put Moss ahead of him for the HOF, but not TO. Harrison had great hands, played ran over the middle, outside of his shoulder issue in his first or second year, he was as reliable as they come. His stats are incredible and he played to win. You make him out to be a big baby that ran out of bounds to avoid hits. Maybe we watched different guys named Marvin Harrison.... The guy I watched for years played with a lot of heart, even if he was an a-hole. Again, I'm not a fan, but you can't support the claim that "at least" ten other people deserve to be in the hall over him and I would love to see all these "easy" TD's he could have scored but apparently just decided to walk out of bounds instead.
  21. I don't see the racism here. Personally, I can't stand Obama. It has nothing to do with his skin color. I am a white female, so most non-white people assume I can sew, knit or take care of children. Why is it ok for one and not the other? It isn't "racism", it is stereotyping. BIG DIFFERENCE.
  22. In a pass heavy Arians offense, Fitz could have his best season yet. Palmer isn't Kurt Warner, but he is at least adequate. Arians will utilize a ton of 3 WR sets and make sure Fitz gets his. Reggie Wayne is past his prime and looked great with Arians running the offense last season.
  23. Cara

    T-Rich...2 or 3 overall

I may consider taking him over AP in a PPR Format. T Rich is going to catch some passes, as all running backs do under Norv Turner. His yardage and reception total should boost his stats above AP. While I believe Adrian is the best RB of this generation, he's just that; A runner. Trent will likely be everything (and much more) that Turner thought he was getting with Ryan Matthews.
  24. No, this is nothing like Vick's deal. The Cowboys are on the hook for a TON of guaranteed money. If they were to release Romo after 2014, the remainder of the guaranteed money would hit their cap immediately, unless he is a post June 1st cut, then they could spread it over two years. Even if his salaries the first two years were guaranteed, which I've read that only half of it is, they would still take a cap hit of $30ish million when releasing him and Romo would still collect the cash. Vick was paid guaranteed money all up front, outside of $4 million, I believe. The Cowboys are now 100% stuck with Romo and will live or die by his play on the field. With the current cap situation and the escalation forthcoming in the contracts of both Ware and Witten, Dez's extension to worry about and the fact their "top" players are all due for contracts in the next two seasons, they are in a world of trouble. If they were going to rebuild, they should have traded away some talent this year for picks in the 2014 draft, where there will be actual QB talent. Too late now. There is going to come a day in Dallas where they are going to be forced to do what the Jets and Raiders have done this offseason, and even the Steelers to a certain degree. You cannot keep restructuring deals in the NFL unless you are wise enough to pay the guaranteed money in the beginning of the contract. Backloading deals is great when there is no guaranteed money. When there is, you are at the mercy of the player. In this case, Romo took the Cowboys to school. I read a blurb online about their contracts over the next three seasons. They are going to be well over the cap every offseason, meaning more restructures, and eventually, the release of some of their better players. On top of that, with the way Jones has backloaded his contracts with fully guaranteed money, releasing the players is still going to count most of their salary against the cap. Horrible cap management by Dallas. On another note... I would hope this means Dallas will finally put a line around Romo. If not, they just wasted a LOT of money.

    T-Rich...2 or 3 overall

Just my $.02, but here it is; The Browns have improved on defense while I believe the Steelers and Ravens have taken steps back on offense. Cincy still needs a linebacking group that can tackle. He's in the right division for success in 2013. IF the Browns are able to grab a Corner to pair with Haden via the draft, or free agency, that defense may surprise some people. The more stops they get, the more carries T Rich will have. Norv likes to utilize the RB out of the backfield on dump off passes and considering the current state of their WR Corps, I could see Trent hitting the 65 catch mark this year. I see him being better than he was in 2013, but I also believe McCoy, Spiller, Charles and a couple other guys will be vastly improved as well. I do see him as a very solid RB1, but think his place is in the 5th to 8th RB taken range. This isn't a knock on Richardson so much as it is I'm high on several RB's this year. If I'm picking in the 1.06 to 1.12 area, I've got him penciled in as a potential draftee, although I think some folks are going to reach for him and take him at the 1.02/1.03. I don't think you can really go wrong taking him anywhere in Round One as the differences between his final numbers and the guys taken before him are likely to be minimal.
