So, I go over to the casino, a little shell shocked after losing to that one outer last session, and I bring $400 with me. That's more than usual, but I didn't want to be in a situation where I needed money and didn't have it. After not very long I have like $300 of it on the table (1/2 NL). Was down, and then back to even, and then down a little, when a 2/5 game opens up, and one of the fishiest players moves over to that table. I ask the floor if there are any more seats, and they say there is one, so I move over there. Well, the fishy guy was in the 10 seat, so I couldn't get position on him, but the 9 seat was open, so I sat there. Then, this new fish shows up. A poker players dream. He's drunk off his ass, and has an envelope full of money. I dunno how much he had, but he wanted to buy in for a grand. The max is 5. I had bought in for like $250, but after a couple hands I saw how this guy was playing and took all but $4 out of my wallet to get me up to $400, when this hand happened: Drunk guy raises to like $15. So, I read that he does not have a very strong hand. That's a small raise for him. I look down at AJ and call. Pretty good flop for my hand, AAQ hits. I check. The guy moves $75 across the line, they make him leave it all in because he crossed the line. I flat. The turn is a 5. No flushes, and I think we both checked there. The river is another Q and the guy aggressively pushes out $300. I re-raise all in for like $23 more and you can see the look on the guys face ... he might have a queen, but he likely has nuthin, and how can you fold now? He eventually calls and I scoop the massive pot. Then I won a smaller hand against some other players where I had 88 and the flop was 225. I bet and everyone folded. Then I get into another hand with this drunk guy. I had 68 spades and he either limped or only raised to $10. I want to be in every flop I can against this guy, so I call and the flop is A88 with 2 hearts. I made a small bet and sadly the drunk guy folded and another guy called. The river was some rag diamond, putting 2 hearts and 2 diamonds out there, guy checks, I bet $100 and he calls. River is the 9 of clubs and he checks. Now, he could be slow playing AA here, so I just check, and take it down. He tells me he had a diamond draw. I think he really had hearts, but whatever. So, then like 45 minutes later, drunk guy has hit some massive hands. One where he calls 2 all ins with JQ off. All ins have aces and kings of course, he flops a jack, rivers a queen and sends both of them packing. I was thinking, "Seems like that's usually what happens to me. I'm gonna play tight, because I don't wanna hit some cooler." I fold lots of K8 and Q2 type hands, this guy loses some of his stack to other players, when this hand happens. 2/5 really spread limit, max bet is $650 so neither of us can go all in preflop. I have about $1200 and he has like $700. He is 2 seats to my right. Drunk guy raises to $30. One guy, who is sober, but not really all that good, flats and I look down at AK. It's not suited, and not my favorite hand, but it absolutely crushes his range and I want to isolate. I raise to $120. Folds around to drunk guy, who calls, which tells me he does not have a very good hand. He would re-raise with AQ for sure. Sober guy folds. Perfect. Flop comes K,10, 4 rainbow. This is where it gets pretty funny. I bet $300. Actually hoping just to take the pot down, but no. The guy gives this speech and he actually says, "I'm not afraid of your AK. C'mon man, I like you, why are you doing this, I don't wanna take your money." but the whole time, he is talking to the guy to my left, who doesn't have cards and folded preflop. I look at him and he just shrugs his shoulders. Eventually someone says, not him, him and points to me. And he goes, "Oh him? Ok, I call." Now we are both pretty much committed, and the pot is almost $900. Turn comes another 10 and the guy shoves in his last $300 (he has more in his pocket, but thats it on the table). I'm thinking, if he has a 10 ... that sucks, but I hafta call. So, I call, turn over my AK. The guy looks at his cards and says, "I need a 4." It echoes in my head ... and I am having flashbacks to the other day where a guy said "I need a 5." and then his one outer came. One out, in the whole deck ... this guy is TWICE as likely to nail a 4 on the river and this pot is for $1500. I can't remember what the river was, but it was not a 4. The guy mucks his cards, someone demands to see them ... 2, 4 off suit. Bout 15 minutes later I took almost 4 racks of red ($2000) to the cage, cashed out and left. So, I made almost $1600. That's a record cash win for me. Previous record was in Vegas at the WSOP this year for $1300.
