Every time I saw him in something or he popped up, I enjoyed him. This isnt some deep intricate concept.

For the record, he was never actually a gunnery sergeant.

 

He was a drill sergeant and a sergeant in the USMC. Certainly not some guy they grabbed off the street with no experience in what happens.

He was also five foot two. Had to get a special waiver just to serve in the Marines.

 

It's the only service that would allow him to enlist. Even though he was too short to reach the trigger.

 

Basically, he looked like a helmet with combat boots.
