Bigotry and Hypocrisy

Sure there are a few pockets of hardliners still obsessed.

When one of the people in those pockets happens to be the Vice President, it's a problem.

Abortion: I'm actually more right leaning here. I struggle with the exact moment that a buch of cells becomes a person that deserves protection. First hearbeat? First brain activity? I don't know. It's not conception, but it sure as hell isn't late term. If I looked a the development timeline I'd probaly be way before the end of the 1st trimester (could be wrong)

Illegals: same, but f the wall. It's impossible to build and maintain, and would be a huge money sink, eyesore, and momument to shittyness. And it also wouldn't work.

Guns: I'm pro regulation. More regulation for deadlier weapons. Easy check for bolt action rifles. More for pump shotguns. More for semi-auto. More for pistols. More for carry/conceal. More for full auto. Some of these "more" include regular safety checks, classes etc. No more Uncle HeeHaw with a full arsenal in his basement or Grandpappy with an assortment of loaded handguns hidden throughout the house.

Weed: same

Gay marriage: Psst. Gay people care. They are the same as everyone else, treat them that way. (but I'd galdly take "who cares" as a stance from many people)

Refugees: The current vetting process is around 1.5 years I believe, and covers extremism. Sounds appropriate to me.

LBGT+ rights: See above re: gay marriage.

In a nutshell, the place you are willing to compromise to is basically the place I would be happy for everyone on the right to get to. The problem is not many people will move away from their stances, usually only because is is "THEM" that is proposing it.

you took that wrong, I didn't mean I don't care about them or don't treat them the same, I meant I don't care if they get married

what I am sick of though is that we have to care that so and so came out, like its news, like you need a parade and a whole month

Of course I have. His current stance is the old "hate the sin, love the sinner" routine. He also welcomes the LGBT community into the Church (but of course they would need to repent for having same sex... sex)

Even that, though, is too much for many on the right who are now actually delegitimizing THE POPE saying he is not adhering to the Bible's teachings. Lolz.

I assume you're ok with gender neutral bathrooms and locker rooms in public schools?

Stick to sports? Cardinals' support of Supreme Court nominee shows NFL's hypocrisy

It’s not mixing football and politics the NFL finds so distasteful. It’s mixing football with politics the league and its owners find distasteful.

That was made abundantly clear Monday night, when the Arizona Cardinals posted a story on their website lavishing praise on new Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh from team president Michael Bidwill. Shortly after, it retweeted a post by Adam Schefter with the letter Bidwill and fellow high school classmates are sending to the Senate Judiciary Committee in support of Kavanaugh.

MSNBC star Joy Reid loses 1 in 5 viewers following homophobic blog scandal

MSNBC show host Joy Reid has seen a drop of over 20 percent in viewership since it was revealed that her pre-fame blog contained dozens of homophobic and hateful posts that she claims to not remember writing.

.

.

.

Earlier this year, Reid claimed homophobic and other hateful posts on her pre-fame blog were planted by diabolical hackers. In April, Reid got emotional on the air when her hacking claim fell apart and admitted it seemed unlikely she was hacked, but claimed that she didnt recall making the offensive remarks, for which she apologized anyway.

Critics were quick to criticize Reids apology for not mentioning the dubious hacker claims for which she reportedly alerted the FBI about the crime.

Liberal Activist Accused of Stealing GOP Lawmaker's GPS-Tagged Campaign Sign

Following the disappearance of Rep. Tom Reed's (R-N.Y.) campaign signs, members of his campaign team placed electronic tracking devices inside the lawmaker's signs to catch the alleged thief.

A tracker in one sign led them to the home of Gary McCaslin, a liberal activist and leader of the anti-Reed group Citizens for a Better Southern Tier.

Mark Duplass apologizes for pro-Ben Shapiro tweet after liberal fans slam him

Liberal actor Mark Duplass issued an apology to his fans on Thursday after sending them into a lather by calling conservative pundit Ben Shapiro a “genuine person” with good intentions.

In a now-deleted tweet, Duplass encouraged “fellow liberals” to follow Shapiro if they are interested in hearing perspective from the other side of the political aisle. Instead of listening to the actor’s advice, fans were outraged that he suggested leaving the liberal echo chamber. As a result, Duplass deleted the tweet and replaced it with an apology.

A lot of people were pissed when Obama won, yet I can't recall anyone that worked in his administration being harassed and ran out of a restaurant.

McCaskill campaign hit with report on husband's federal subsidy windfall

Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill was hit with another politically damaging report Tuesday when her local newspaper revealed businesses tied to her husband have gotten more than $131 million in federal subsidies since she took office.

According to the investigation by The Kansas City Star, Shepard's personal income from the investments grew considerably since McCaskill took office in 2007. He reportedly made between $1,608 and $16,731 in 2006. But in 2017, Shepard reportedly earned between $365,374 and $1.1 million "from investments in housing projects that received federal subsidies."

Claire McCaskill's private plane used on campaign's RV tour through Missouri

Sen. Claire McCaskill (D., Mo.) said her campaign was "hitting the road" in an RV to tour the state, but public flight information indicates that travel also occurred on her million-dollar private plane.

The RV, named BigBlue by the campaign, was unveiled late last month by McCaskill, who said she was "very excited to hit the road" in it for an upcoming "Veterans for Claire" tour. The campaign kept a live blog of its three-day RV trip from May 29 to May 31, posting updates of its whereabouts.

Unmentioned on the blog is the role McCaskill's private plane played on the trip. The aircraft is a single-engine turboprop valued on her financial disclosure forms at more than $1 million dollars.

US cuts carbon emissions more than foreign nations that criticize Trump environmental policies

When President Trump announced his plan to pull the United States out of the Paris Climate Accords in June 2017, the howling cries from left-wing environmentalists could be heard across the globe.

From Canada to China and throughout Europe, the world denounced the president’s decision as reckless and in contradiction to “settled science.” Without the Paris Climate Accords, they argued, Earth would soon find itself cascading off the global warming cliff.

A woman wearing a Proud Boys shirt makes me cringe, not because PB are anti-women (they're not) but it has a silly, groupie, trying to ingratiate yourself to a boy's club feel to it.

No way should she have been fired though.

ETA: there may be more to it than her simply wearing the shirt. But hopefully it's something meaningful, not just mere association or any participation with PBs.

Trump aide Marc Short's hiring at University of Virginia prompts professors' resignation

Two University of Virginia history professors have resigned from the schools Miller Center for Public Affairs after it hired Marc Short, a former Trump aide.

Professors William I. Hitchcock and Melvyn P. Leffler said the hiring of Short, who was the White House director of legislative and intergovernmental affairs, violated the Miller Centers values to hire such a notoriously partisan political appointee as a paid distinguished fellow,

Stars rally around liberal James Gunn after offensive tweets, unlike reaction to Trump-supporting Roseanne Barr

The cast of Marvels Guardians of the Galaxy released a statement on Monday in support of embattled director James Gunn, and though his A-list pals criticized his tweets that joked about rape and pedophilia, they ultimately rallied around him.

Gunn's experience is in sharp contrast to the way the colleagues of Roseanne Barr behaved when she made her own offensive remarks on social media.

Nikki Haley draws shade over $53G curtains -- OK'd by Obama administration

Nikki Haley, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, is drawing criticism over curtains in her official residence costing nearly $53,000 -- purchased amid deep budget cuts in the State Department. Trouble is, the purchase was approved in 2016, under the Obama administration.

How can you, on the one hand, tell diplomats that basic needs cannot be met and, on the other hand, spend more than $50,000 on a customized curtain system for the ambassador to the U.N.? Brett Bruen, a White House official in the Obama administration, told the Times.

When @nikkihaley's not busy rejecting the idea of universal human rights, she's busy spending $52,701 of US tax payer money on curtains for her residence. Milk the people, screw the world. Fine priorities you got there, Andrew Stroehlein, Human Rights Watchs European Media Director, wrote in a tweet.

The curtains themselves reportedly cost nearly $30,000 but the hardware needed to operate them cost an additional $22,801. The curtains were installed last year.

ETA:

New York Times admits creating 'unfair impression' about Nikki Haley's $53G curtains that were OK'd by Obama administration

An earlier version of this article and headline created an unfair impression about who was responsible for the purchase in question. While Nikki R. Haley is the current ambassador to the United Nations, the decision on leasing the ambassadors residence and purchasing the curtains was made during the Obama administration, according to current and former officials, the editors note states.
