Under the program, which officially launched Tuesday, people who work remotely for an out-of-state company can get paid to move to the state, The Associated Press reports. The state will pay eligible remote workers up to $10,000 for qualifying remote worker expenses, including expenses such as relocation costs and computer software, as part of the program. Vermont Gov. Phil Scott ® first signed off a bill allowing the program back in May. The bill budgeted grants for nearly 100 new remote workers in the first three years of the program, and 20 more workers per year for every year afterward. According to the news agency, the state has allocated $500,000 in total for the program, which will be awarding grants to workers on a first-come, first served basis. The legislation is just one of the Northeastern state’s latest efforts to counter its aging population. In addition to the program, Vermont has also launched another program, called Stay to Stay Weekends, that is aimed at getting the state's 13 million annual tourists to relocate to Vermont. Tourists who plan their trips to the state during one of the designated weekends from April to October have the opportunity to network with employers, entrepreneurs, and realtors. Would take a minimum of 100k for me to even think of moving there. What if you move there and lose your job that allows you to work remotely?

mighty_thor 115 Posted January 2, 2019 My sister raised her family in Benington and my uncle and his family lived in Stowe. Nice place to visit. Not a lot of lucrative employment opportunities. My Uncle was a politician in Stowe and he said he could get me a job working for the State of Vermont when I got of college in 1986 (Civil Engineer). Pay was $17,000 a year. I ended up getting $26,000 a year to start in Massachusetts. So I was making 56% more in MA than I would in VT. My cousins and nephews who were raised in Vermont were all heavy pot smokers. They were like the equivalent of surfer dudes except exchange the surf boards with skis.

Thornton Melon 542 Posted January 2, 2019 Since a couple of you have been to stowe. Like I said we are going next October during the fall colors. Anything that we should do? Besides kill ourselves If you like craft beer, go to The Alchemist. Buy a couple of 4 packs, and drink them. My son has been living in Jay, a few miles from the Canadian border, for a couple of years. Nice area, but there's nothing up there but the ski resort. Nice place to visit for a weekend, but not a whole lot to do if you don't ski/snowboard (which I don't). My wife says she'd love to live there, but then I remind her it's 200 miles from the seacoast, and she returns to reality.

Just figured we'd find some tours, look at the fall colors. You know...make some Maple syrup, lather it on my balls see what happens. You know the usual stuff. wiffleball 4,635 Posted January 3, 2019 Just saw where NJ is number one in net emigration. Unfortunately. No kidding, there are actually some really pretty places in Jersey. Probably has a lot more to do with corrupt politicians like Christy then anything else.

Probably has a lot more to do with corrupt politicians like Christy then anything else. I live in NJ. Came here for a massive work bonus. I hate it from the design of the roads to the food to the politics. But I met my GF of 6 years now, and although I would love to leave this state, she has family here and they are tight. I respect that and can deal with it better now that NJ has sports gambling. Although I'm not a big gambler, it does make some boring sports matchups way better.
