Vic Fangio new Broncos head coach

Recommended Posts

Denver going the defensive route again at HC. From ESPN...

The Denver Broncos have reached an agreement with Chicago Bears defensive coordinator Vic Fangio to become the team's next head coach, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter and Dan Graziano.

Fangio will receive a four-year contract that includes a team option for a fifth year, a source said.

And the hits keep on coming.

Although I am happy for him and wish him all the best.

Same here. But good luck with Elway.

Don't be too harsh to judge this move.

"Papa Vic" has an excellent record and inherits a pretty damn good defense as it is. If Kubiak can get an offense going, maybe a new QB as he has the receivers and 2 RBs, then possibly Vic can concentrate on the defense and the team as a whole.

Not a sexy pick.......but a darn good one still! (offense is way way over-rated)

Mmm I think its a interesting pick.

Be interesting to see how this move might upset the Bears def going forward also.

No so sure its a darn good pick, sometimes its not a good fit.

I would rank it a 5.

No. But 2020 is a big QB year. Fangio at least makes Mahomes'job much harder twice a year. If I were the Broncos I would

re establish a top defense, hell you have Chubb and Von. Then draft a QB in 2020 along with a playmaker of any sorts.

Or sign Foles and spend all the early picks on linemen

Who? Fangio? He has been a great DC for years and years. Do you watch football?

He has never been a HC. Along with most guys who get hired each year.

Who called him the 2nd coming?

The problem with hiring defensive coordinators as head coaches is that you need a really good oc. If you get a good oc he's likely gone in a year or two, so the following year you bring in a new system. Good luck grooming young QBs when you have either a mediocre oc or a revolving door of coaches and systems.

I agree. In todays NFL I want an offensive guy. Especially if I am selecting a QB.

Problem is some teams get the scraps.

Sometimes if your up and coming OC leaves after 2 years, you can maybe promote from within and keep the offensive system in place for the most part.

I don't watch football at all, but I do know that he has been in the league 30 years and, apparently has never been good enough to get his own gig. Maybe they just wanted to give Father Time his time.

He wanted to bring in guys he wanted. They basically said you are a OC, no.

So they give him the OC postion, and then tell him to run the system already in place where the people we have

Yeah I’m leaving also.
