A House Divided

Recommended Posts

Do you and your spouse (aka "life partner" for some of you) have drastically different political views? And if so, do you ever have serious conversations on current events?

I largely avoid any political discussions with my wife because I know it will end up as a real life version of a typical GC political thread. On the few occasions when my wife insists we discuss something it usually ends up with me getting irritated because as we all know it's impossible to change anyone's views. I have to constantly check myself from being too honest about what I'm feeling.

Yes, I know I'm a beta cuck because I can't keep my b1tch in line, but I'm wondering how the rest of you deal with this situation.

I'm conservative and my wife is a die-hard liberal. I try to keep it to a minimum because it's been non-stop "Did you see what Trump said?" , "OMG, Trump!!" since he was elected with her. It's exhausting having her on tilt every day, same as the ones here in the GC.

However, I don't hold back my honesty when we do get into it and some of those can be some real barn burners. :)

Christ guys. Let's try to keep this thread from becoming another slap fight. Truly curious how you deal with differences without getting into any specifics.

Well, to be fair, he started it for no apparent reason. :)

fortunately for me, my wife and I evolved together, I was always a Reagan Conservative at heart, people used to call me APK back in the day, and preppy. Anyways we were both Bill Clinton supporters in college, and both of us voted for Gore in 2000, however after 9-11 we shifted very fast, we looked back and saw how Clinton did nothing after Cole, after the first TC attack, and we have become more conservative each year

I couldn't be married to a liberal in this day in age

I was just making a funny.

My wife is far more liberal than me and much more interested in politics and current events. When I listen to one of her rants about Bernie Sanders or whatever I make sure she has to listen to an equally long sermon from me about the Sixers or Eagles. :D

My wife couldn't tell you the difference between a republican and a Democrat.

I sometimes find myself having to hold my tongue about what a joke her countries government is though.

She's Fillipino, not Chinese.

She aknowledges that the government there is a corrupt joke sh!t show, but she doesn't like my ranting about it too much.

And that goes double for the church.

Been together for almost 25 years. I was/am conservative she was a liberal feminist when we got together. Over the years I've pretty much stayed the course. She has become more conservative than I am at this point.

All it takes is a little time and some common sense. Most people come around eventually.
