The median rent in DC is $2700 - I doubt AOC’s $2000/month place qualifies as luxury housing. I don’t think it’s necessarily hypocritical to rent an apartment that’s 25% cheaper than average while saying everyone should have affordable housing. Unless you think she should be living in a tent out of solidarity with the poors or something.

Agree to disagree.  If the person in question is prominently proclaiming the evils of the wealthy, and how evil real estate people do not provide affordable housing, then you participate in tha that model.....typical leftists hypocrisy.  People just need to do what she says or thinks, but she wont hold herself to that standard. The Ayn Rand factor.

As stated, her manifesto attacked the people who provide the building in which she resides, there are countless people in DC who cannot afford that rental, and that owner makes no effort to provide affordable housing.  She does care about people, she cares about attention, she lives separate from her credo.

I haven’t read much about AOC. Did she attack all property owners or just luxury real estate developers? Is your issue that she is renting a place at all or that it’s not cheap enough? Her townhouse is 25% below market average. If it were 50% cheaper than the average DC rental would she no longer be hypocritical? Just trying to figure out your grievance formula.

Interesting, didn't know that.  That being said, I don't think she opposed the existence of social programs per se, rather she opposed what she called "second handers" who were not truly needy.  As an example in Fountainhead, she talks about the poor situation in the projects.  She blames the husbands for going out drinking and otherwise not being responsible.  But she also blames the slumlords who did little to nothing to improve the places.

They observe the rich fat cats running everything and making more money.

The Bernie Sanders' of the world (from here for, known as BS), promise that these folks won't be in control anymore if they win.
Insurance prices will come down, jobs will pay more, etc.

The problem is they don't recognize that the rich fat cats are that way BECAUSE of government.  Not in spite of it.

I like a lot of what Bernie and Warren say about income inequality and the corporatization of America. 

Problem is, I know their solutions are largely bullsh!t promises that would never, and in most cases should never, happen.

I think you are partially correct. We have seen some change in certain issues, yes.

I don't know that the issue we were talking about, namely wealth disparity and too much corporate power, is best served by electing a billionaire corporatist, but in other issues, yes, trump has brought change.

I disagree with companies paying CEOs millions especially after they fock the company up. With that being said, how would you legislate that? Perhaps if you made corporate tax breaks tied to CEOs salaries. You want to keep the benefit of lower corporate rate? Knock off the bloated CEO salaries.

I like most of Bernie’s policies. I can’t get on board with prisoners voting but ex cons who’ve already paid their debt should be allowed to vote. 

I think he’s one of those guys who will help shape the direction of the party and maybe he’s even a behind the scenes kingmaker but he won’t ever be the guy. To anyone in middle American he’s going to come off as the cranky old hippy Jew and I don’t see enough appeal there.

I think it was Thomas Jefferson who said the first job of a statesman is to get elected. I don’t think Bernie clears that hurdle.
