Refusing to Apologize - We Need More of This

He was on a shock jock radio show called Bubba the Love Sponge for crying out loud, over a decade ago and said shock jock things.  Actually rather tame for real shock jock banter.

The media - Twitter mob, tried a drive by hit job.  Tucker told them to eat a diick.

He was on a shock jock show where even the announcers thought he'd crossed a line...

"I am not defending underage marriage at all," Carlson said in a clip from 2009. "I just don't think it's the same thing exactly as pulling a child from a bus stop and sexually assaulting that child."

When the hosts pushed back, saying that what Jeffs did was arguably worse because it was "more planned out and plotted," Carlson disagreed.

But if this is the hill you want to defend, by all means.

Tucker Carlson’s valiant stand in favor of ‘dissent’

Self-righteous pronouncement in favor of free speech:

It’s really not that much you can do to respond ... it’s pointless to try to explain how the words were spoken in jest or taken out of context, or in any case bear no resemblance to what you actually think or would want for the country.

Speech that he’s actually defending:

She just does seem a little c---y.

Self-righteous pronouncement in favor of free speech:

One side is deadly serious. They believe that politics is war. They are not interested in abstractions or principles, rules or traditions. They seek power and they claim to win it with whatever it takes. If that includes getting you fired or silencing you, or threatening your family at home, or throwing you in prison, okay. They know what their goal is. If you are in the way, they will crush you.

Speech that he’s actually defending:

Oh my God, she’s a pig. [in reference to Arianna Huffington]

Self-righteous pronouncement in favor of free speech

The left’s main goal, in case you haven’t noticed, is controlling what you think. In order to do that, they have to control the information that you receive.

Speech that he’s actually defending:

Underage marriage isn’t “the same thing exactly as pulling a child from a bus stop and sexually assaulting that child. ... The rapist in this case has made a lifelong commitment to live and take care of the person so it is a little different.”

Self-righteous pronouncement in favor of free speech:

One of the only places left in the United States where independent thoughts are allowed is right here. The opinion hours on this network. Just a few hours in a sea of television programming, it’s not much relatively speaking. For the left, it’s unacceptable. They demand total conformity.

Speech that he’s actually defending:

Somehow the rest of us have been bullied into pretending that Oprah’s great, that she doesn’t hate the pen!s, that she’s not anti-man.

Self-righteous pronouncement in favor of free speech:

The point of this show has never been us, but now it’s obvious to everybody. There is no pretending that it is not happening, it is happening and so going forward, we’ll be covering their efforts to make us be quiet.

Speech that he’s actually defending:

No, it’s just absolutely fundamental -- physically, the problems with [Elena Kagan] are fundamental. She’s never going to be an attractive woman.

Self-righteous pronouncement in favor of free speech:

You’ve got one channel that disagrees with all the other channels. You have an island of dissent in the middle of the sea of sameness, and that’s too much for them, and I wonder if we’ve been lying to ourselves about the extent to which they would like to shut this channel down.

Speech that he’s actually defending:

If you’re talking to a feminist, and she’s given you, “Well, men really need to be more sensitive,” [say] no, actually, men don’t need to be more sensitive. You just need to be quiet and kind of do what you’re told.

Self-righteous pronouncement in favor of free speech:

Why would they want to stop all dissent? What’s the point of that?

Speech that he’s actually defending:

There’s no Canadian woman that you’d want to pay to sleep with.

He truly is an American hero, God bless you Tucker.   🇺🇸

Other than the under age marriage comments, I don't take issue with anything you quoted above.  That stuff was routine on Bubba's show as well as Stern and O&A.  I've never watched or listened to Tucker's show, so I'm not a fan and don't think hes' a hero.

I do think the country is overly sensitive to what people say or have said in the past.  We're killing careers and condemning people for making off color or sexist remarks.  My friends and I have done it for years.

Las week during a card game, one of my friends asked another (black guy) if he was still not eating pussay.  He said nah man, I don't know how you guys do that.  I said, "I don't blame ya man.  I wouldn't eat that black stuff either."  Laughs all around.  I'm positive the word kunt was used.  As was fat ass, dumb sh!t, retard, , and others people now deem completely off limits.  They're just words.  Shut up and deal.

Why go after FOX? He was working for MSNBC at the time and they didn't have a problem with it. Why not direct your fake outrage at the entity that was employing him at the time he actually said the things you're so upset about?

I think Tucker is an idiot, but don't disagree with anything you said here.  Advertisers can make their choices, but they should be reasonable, and consider context in general.

Sure. If an average weekend of my conversation was recorded and made available to the general public, there would be a lynch mob after me. Racist jokes, sexist jokes, pedo jokes, rape jokes, etc.

Hell, every day, when we are walking down the hill from the classroom building to the staff apartments, a typical conversation goes like this... (keep in mind that when we foreigners speak English naturally, rapidly and full of slang, nobody here can understand a word we are saying).

"Would you hit that... (points at random Chinese teacher)

"Maybe. Wouldn't date her though."

"What about _____________ (insert name of female boss)?"

"I mean, shes gross, but I'd choke her while I assraped her."

Sh!t like that.

Hell, anyone who heard a conversation between me and my wife would be appalled. I order her to cook me dinner woman, threaten to beat and rape her, she tells me to hurry up and get drunk so her other boyfriend can come do the job properly, etc. Its all affectionate and joking, but a transcript would look really bad.

And 90% of the men I have ever met are the same. That's why all this fake outrage about talk is so dumb.

In the latest resurfacing of Fox News host Tucker Carlson‘s old comments on a shock jock radio show, the then-MSNBC pundit joked about being an “extraordinarily loaded” trust fund baby.

Carlson’s over-the-top trust fund boasting was unearthed by The Intercept’s Aida Chávez from an old segment on The Bubba the Love Sponge Show, which was a typical provocative morning radio show broadcasted in the Tampa, Florida area.

“I’m not getting a new job, I’m not going to be hanging around, [I’m] same old, you know, pathetic, unemployed, unshaven in his boxer shorts at noon kinda guy,” Carlson said in 2008. “Who would employ me? I live a perfect life right now. I get up late, I go down, buy a cup of coffee, read the newspaper, stuff like that.”

He continued:

“I’m like extraordinarily loaded, just like from money I inherited from my number of trust funds… I go out and beat some servants, I’ll wrap my Lamborghini around a tree, go pick up a kilo [of cocaine] or two — just like normal stuff like that… I’m completely a [trust fund baby]. I never needed to work, the whole cable news thing was just a total pose, it was just like a phase I was going through.”

Not too surprised.

Seriously.  It's as if a sense of humor is no longer allowed.

Retroactively not allowed.

Liberals were always scared of words though.

Unless you are using yourself as that source of humor, no, it is not allowed. Further, the color of your skin now matters more than anything else, this is how you divide people up, thank you leftists.

Check out Ricky Gervais new series on Netflix.  It's chocked full of all the stuff that outrages people.  In fact, it deserves it's own thread.

I really wish he wouldn't laugh at his own jokes so much. Especially with that high-pitched, shrill girly laugh.

None of that in this series so far.  His character is too pissed/depressed to smile, much less laugh.

Crowder > Tucker

Both hold some traditional viewpoints that are now controversial, but character wise, the former is a gentleman at the same time.

I agree he shouldn't apologize if he's not sorry/doesn't want to. But I do think he's a bit of an a-hole now, and I was neutral before/haven't watched his show enough to have a deeper impression.

He’s also from Canada and still has family there. When he says socialism sucks he isn’t talking about of his a$$ either.

Titans is describing shock factor joking, which is usually easy to discern. Sounds like Carlson was dryly sharing his actual condescending and careless sentiments in a way to be amusing but also present an actual viewpoint. I wouldn't assume Titans wants to inflict harm on his wife if I heard his conversation. I hear Carlson as a little punk dispensing his viewpoint. More power to him, the public can just take notes. Some will like him more for it, some will dislike his character, deservingly.

I don’t think he should apologize for things he said 10 years ago on a shock jock program, but I do think he’s a smug little twerp.

Beto O’Rourke apologizes for joke about wife

In a taping of the “Political Party Live” podcast in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, he apologized for a campaign joke he made on a number of occasions -- in which he quipped that his wife, Amy, raised their children “sometimes with my help.”

While the jest picked up chuckles on the campaign trail, he apparently ruffled some feathers, with The New York Times reporting that his comments “elicited both laughter and derision” and cited tweets that criticized him for unwittingly exposing the double standard between male and female candidates.

“This is not the first time Mr. O’Rourke has been accused of appearing to revel in his advantages as a white male in an increasingly diverse Democratic Party,” the Gray Lady declared.

That criticism was quickly acknowledged by Beto.

"Not only will I not say that again, but I'll be more thoughtful going forward in the way that I talk about our marriage, and also the way in which I acknowledge the truth of the criticism that I have enjoyed white privilege," he said on the podcast.
