Something Harper. Roy??  I don't get the connection to Gin Blossoms though.

Edit: oh, the band is just fantastic that is really what I think

yeah I was just joking, playing off what BiPolarBear was saying

One of the few rock bands to come out of AZ.  I guess it is hard to drum up angst when it is sunny and a bunch of hardbodies are walking around in bikinis.  :D

Greta songs. The guitar solo on this song is brilliant because of the way it fits the music. Simple start, interesting middle, and out with a flare. I really admire the playing.

Just listened to this on my flight.

When suppertime came, the old cook came on deck
Saying, "Fellas, it's too rough to feed ya."
At seven PM a main hatchway caved in
He said, "Fellas, it's been good to know ya."

Isn't the correct lyric: Ignorance and prejudice and fear walk hand in hand?

My bad if you're not quoting Witch Hunt by Rush.

Edit - please ignore. I cheated and googled what song you were quoting. Sorry about that.

I knew it was Van Halen and one of my VH favs but couldn't think of the name.

Give me police protection
Gonna buy a gun so I can look after number one
Give me a bodyguard a black belt judo expert
With a machine gun

Gonna buy a tank and an aeroplane
When she catches up with me won't be no time to explain
She thinks I've been with another woman and that's enough
To send her half insane
Gonna buy a fast car

Put on my lead boots
And take a long, long drive
I may end up spendin' all my money
But I'll still be alive

The Last Resort ~ Eagles

I've ALWAYS loved that song and use the lyric quite often.

This might be a tough one:

Mild-mannered supermen are held in kryptonite
And the wise and foolish virgins giggle with their bodies glowing bright
Through the door a harvest feast is lit by candlelight
Its the bottom of a staircase that spirals out of sight

What are those voices outside loves open door

that make us throw off our contentment

and beg for something more?

It was about as random as possible. When I walked into the house those were the lyrics of the song that was on the station that my wife had chosen on the DirecTV music channels.

The wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald by Gordon Lightfoot

So moving, somehow I'd remembered 2/3 of the lyrics after the first listen

Got out of bed, wasn't feeling too good
With my wallet and my passport, a new pair of shoes
The sun is shining so I head for the park,
With a bottle of Tequila, and a new pack of cigarettes

Gotcha.  When you realize the song you'll understand it's definitely not in the same vein as those song writers.

Here's a couple more lines:

I got a cousin and she got a friend,
Who thought that her aunt knew a man who could help
At his apartment I knocked on the door,
He wouldn't come out until he got paid.
Now don't tell anybody what I wanna do
If they find out you know that they'll never let me through
