There's some things I need to update, and we can always talk about the rules for next year, but this is what was on the books when the new season started on March 1...

Constitution: Draft

Snake-style draft (reversing order in alternate rounds). Players may be selected in any order, regardless of position. The draft is over when every team has the full complement of 26. Supplemental rounds may be held separately, but are part of the draft. All criteria for an active roster must be met by each team at the end of the draft (i.e. you cannot fail to draft a catcher and wait to pick up one as a free agent).

Once a player is drafted, he may not be dumped until after the draft is complete.

Trades cease midnight the day of the draft. Trades resume immediately after the draft.

The commissioner may call up to three mandatory 3-hour sessions without vote. Typically, there are two such sessions the first and third evenings of the draft, should time neccesitate them. They may, however, be called at any mutually agreeable time. At no time will any mandatory session exceed 12pm Eastern except by mutual agreement.

Sessions are mandatory for a reason--to propel the draft along, and facilitate banter. As such, unexpected absences not considered of an emergent, serious nature are highly, highly discouraged. Should one arise during the draft, the owner(s) must whenever possible provide for pick selection in their absence.

Each pick has a time limit of two hours. During normal process, no penalty is assessed for lateness, other than the derision of your fellows. During mandatory sessions called or agreed upon, exceeding the limit without provision of selection shall result in a $10 fine, and the forfeiture of the selection until after all unpenalized teams have full rosters. Multiple owners penalized will proceed in round, and then draft, order of the picks lost. Each subsequent pick also has a time limit of two hours. A minimum of four hours must therefore elapse before two fines in succession are assessed. Please make whatever arrangements are necessary to attend the mandatory sessions for the full period of time. Besides, it's fun.

Roster

A team’s active roster (starters) will consist of 21 players as follows:

- 1 catcher

- 1 first baseman

- 1 third baseman

- 1 second baseman

- 1 shortstop

- 1 middle infielder (an extra second baseman or shortstop)

- 1 corner infielder (an extra first or third baseman)

- 5 outfielders

- 9 pitchers (At least 5 starters and at least 3 relievers)

Statistics are calculated for all 21 players on each team’s active roster every day.

A team’s inactive roster (bench) will consist of 5 players during the draft. There is no position restriction on these slots. These players may be active MLB players not on your starting lineup, injured players on the disabled list, or players sent down to the minor leagues. During the season you may not exceed 5 players at any one time. For instance, if you have 5 players on the disabled list, you must drop one of them off your bench roster to pick up a free agent to start or you can leave the injured player as a starter and sacrifice his points. You may, however, carry fewer than 5 bench players if you like.

A player is eligible to be drafted at any position at which he appeared in 20 games or more during the preceding season. Players making their MLB debut are eligible at the position either that they played most during the most recently completed Spring Training, or at the position recommended by the external stats source of record (currently Yahoo!). All players who did not play more than 20 games last season are eligible at the position they played the most games at. Once a player plays a new position for 5 games in the current season, they will be eligible at that position as well.

Upon completion of the draft, you must have players eligible (based on the criteria above) at each of the 21 active roster slots. If you do not, you will be forced to relinquish a player at a position for which you have a surplus and fill the active slot via waivers/free agency.

21 starters must remain intact for the entire season with the correct player allotment (i.e. a team may not have 7 outfielders and no catchers starting, or a second baseman may not be started as a shortstop during the season unless he meets shortstop eligibility). PLEASE check your rosters for proper eligibility! Our rules are not necessarily based on what Yahoo allows you to do with them.

If a violation should be found after the fact--that is, games have been recorded and credited that should not have been--the commissioner will use the available players on the team's roster to create a legal lineup. If there is more than one way to rectify the lineup, the player listed first alphabetically will be used. If it should become necessary to use the waiver wire to obtain an eligible player, the owner shall choose the player to be dropped, as well as any roster changes necessary to accomodate that drop retroactively. The pickup shall be the first available free agent at the necessary position, listed alphabetically by last name. Note that any player illegally activated can only be reserved in order to rectify the problem. They cannot be shifted to an eligible, active position on the roster after the fact.

Scoring Category Rankings

Team rankings will be calculated daily using 5 offensive and 5 pitching categories. The offensive categories are total home runs, total stolen bases, total runs batted in, total runs scored, and composite team on-base percentage [h+bb+hbp/PA]. The pitching categories are total wins, total saves, total strikeouts, composite team earned run average ([runs/innings]*9), and composite walks and hits to innings pitched ratio (WHIP) ([walks+hits]/innings pitched).

In each of the ten categories, teams are ranked from first to last. In a 12-team league, the first place team in each category receives 12 points, the second place team in each category receives 11 points, the third place team receives 10 points and so on with the last place team receiving 1 point. Ties will split the available points between the tied teams. For instance, in a tie for 2nd most HR, both teams will receive 11.5: (12+11)/2. For categories in which a lower result is more desirable (such as ERA and WHIP), the lowest result scores the highest points.

The rankings and total team scores at the official end of the major league season (one game MLB tie breakers are included and playoff games are not included) will decide the final standings.

Lineup changes between the active and reserve rosters, and between either of these and the waiver/FA wire are effective for the following day’s games.

Roster Movement

Transactions can take place at any time during the applicable eligibility periods. There are two types of transactions: Trades and Free Agent Acquistions.

Trades: a player or players from one fantasy team are traded to another fantasy team. The number of players can be unbalanced (i.e. 2 for 1 and/or positions do not match). However, unbalanced trades must be accompanied by other roster movement (free agent acquisition or another trade or trades) to ensure the team has a full roster of 21 starters eligible for the position they are slotted.

The trading deadline is August 31 of each season unless the season is too short to reach that date. If the last date is known, as many days as possible (up to 30) will be used to set the trading deadline previous to it. If the season ends abruptly, trading season will remain open until the following CutDown Day.

If draft picks are being traded, either by themselves or as part of a player swap, the owners MUST notify Commissioner before that part of the trade is official. Owners may execute the player swap on the league host site before the rest of the deal is confirmed, but be warned that if a dispute arises over draft picks that precludes the completion of that part of the trade, THE PLAYERS TRADE WILL REMAIN IN FORCE. Until both owners send the Commissioner exactly the same terms, the deal is not struck. Once both communiques agree on the terms, the deal is official, and will be committed to host site transaction logs, or internal logs if necessary. The entire draft pick provision is not in effect, whenever host site protocols permit detailed inclusion of draft picks in official trade agreements.

No non-league parameters may be included in a trade. That is, you can't trade beer or your spouse as part of any BOSMOSPOF transaction.

All trades are subject to veto by the Commissioner, for evidence of clear collusion. Clear collusion is defined as a situation that reflects a lack of motivation on the part of one or more teams involved, to enhance his or her chances of winning. This rule should almost never be invoked, if at all, and is reserved for only the most egregious violations of fair play and competitiveness. It is expected that each owner do his or her best to improve the chances of winning the current season. By the same token, a spirit of caveat emptor shall guide you in your efforts to trade.

A veto may be overridden by votes that reach or exceed 75% of the non-Commisioner, non-trade-involved owners.

If a player is traded from his actual American League team to the National League (or vice versa) there is no impact, as the league is using players from both leagues.

Waiver/Free Agent Acquisitions: you can try to cut any player on your active roster and replace them with any player in the waiver/free agent pool (MLB players not on the active or reserve roster of any team). If the player you acquire is not of the same position eligibility as an active player released, the latter must be replaced by an eligible player from your reserves.

A player newly added to the pool, or newly released, is ineligble for pickup for a variable period determined by the hosting site, currently approximately 48hrs. After this time, the player “clears waivers” and is subject to a claim. A claim may be made in advance, and will be considered in current waiver order. At the start of each season, the waiver order shall be the reverse of the draft order. If two owners make claims on the same player, the team with the lower waiver number shall receive player. Upon receiving their waiver claim, the owner moves to the end of the waiver order, and everyone else moves up one spot in the order.

The current auto-Commissioner (Yahoo!) will process all waiver claims and maintain the current waiver order.

Free agent acquistion is first come, first serve. There is no limit on free agent acquisitions. You may always release a player from your reserves without adding one from the free agent pool, or add a free agent to your roster without a concurrent release, assuming you have space on your reserve roster. All add/drop transactions are closed from the day after the final day of the regular season (or the last day of regular season games played, including pre-postseason playoffs), through the draft. Transactions open again the day after the draft is officially completed.

Owner Removal

An owner may be voted out of the league for gross misconduct such as seriously past due fees payment, collusion, or failure to participate actively so as to enhance his/her chance of winning. A vote reaching or exceeding 75% of league membership shall be sufficient for ouster. If an ouster is made, that owner shall be refunded dues for the current year. The remaining members will vote on whether to dissolve the franchise and release all players to the waiver pool, or seek new ownership. A simple majority shall carry this vote. Should there be no majority, the players release to the waiver pool by default.

Fees

Current league fees are $50, and include all services and transactions, including all hosting fees for web-enabled service (currently $0). An entry void of all services may be obtained by sending a self-addressed, stamped envelope to the Commissioner. Fees are payable to the Commissioner March 1. Nonpayment of fees precludes the opportunity to earn reward, regardless of standings. In such cases, reward will be paid to the next-highest scoring owner. Fees not paid by the end of the season will also render the owner ineligble for the coming season until they are paid, and is possible grounds for removal by the league.

Reward

The team with the highest total score at the close of the MLB regular season shall receive monies equal to or slightly exceeding 50% of the net fees receipts, in $25 increments until the threshold is reached. For a 12-team league, this payout would be $300. The team with the second highest total score shall receive monies equal to or slightly exceeding 66.6% of the remainder, in $25 increments until the threshold is reached. For a 12-team league, this payout would be $200. The third highest scoring team shall receive a portion of that remainder, such that the award exceeds the league fee to the next $25 level. For a 12-team league, this payout would be $75.

The Lidle Award is offered to the best scoring team from the first day after the MLB All-Star Break, through the end of the season. The reward shall be the remainder of fees after all other charges and payouts have been completed. The current default reward is $25.

Thanks for being dilligent and close at hand when email or phones called you to the draft board. 9 days is pretty good for a board draft, IMO, and things went pretty smoothly.

I'll now complete the task of entering in all the players. When that is complete, I will declare the draft officially over, and trades and waivers will begin!

It is with a heavy heart that I submit my resignation as the owner of the Too Much Burrito franchise. As the season wears on, I just can't keep up with all the league transactions and minor league call-ups that I need to. Plus, with another little FB gracing our lives in the spring, I will have even less time.

I have had many years of good times playing with you in BOSMOSPOF from its inception. I'm sure the new owner will have more success with this franchise than I did.

Good luck to all of you in the future (except for Nate - he clearly doesn't need it)

Adios

League I'm in with FSW guys, some of whom are FFToday tweeners/ex-pats. This league is coming apart at the seems on the trade deadline day.

This trade happens - Aug 26 1:53am: Sir Monks trades M. Mora, R. Sexson, J. Johnson to Beermutts for P. Feliz, C. Carpenter, M. Mulder

16 team HTH league, 8 make playoffs and Sir Monks is 9th and a few games back of 7th and 8th. Beermutts are done. I'm in 7th and I didn't think the deal was that bad. Anyway, a couple guys did...

Can you say Fire Sale???? by: Nashville Knights (hov34) Aug 25 8:58am

The trade between beermuts and Monks is ######. Why can't we vote on crap like that?

FYI for you silverbacks, Hearbreak Kids is Rattlesnake

Yeah by: Heartbreak Kids (mike_fsw) Aug 25 9:08pm

That one was tough to look at - a Monks classic. LOL

So will it get the green light? by: Nashville Knights (hov34) Aug 25 11:24pm

I mean beer isn't even changing his lineup anymore (he has a pitcher on the DL in the rotation) but he can make a shity trade like this?

At this point, the commish, duk, comes in and says he talked to both guys and explains the trade. This is a 5 player keeper league.

Still a ###### trade... by: Nashville Knights (hov34) Aug 26 2:22pm

It was a horrible trade duk. And the fact that it was made by a guy that isn't even changing his lineup anymore doesn't help the situation. Why can't the league vote on trades?

down hill fast...

Then beermutts comes in and explains his side and the commish again reaffirms the justification. Me and another team chime in and say we agree the trade doesn't look that bad. There's no voting on trades in this league, but it's been together for about 5 years and there's never been much concern with the commish's decisions on trades.

At this point, people are firing off who is on the block, trade deadline was today. So now this trade occurs - Aug 28 5:40pm: duk trades G. Anderson to Mojo for C. Peña.

Pena isn't worth keeping, IMO, but, whatever, not an absolutely horrible deal. Well, this fires up some others...

That was pretty bad... by: Highlanders v3 (rodney9780) Aug 28 4:15pm

the anderson trade.

...but must have been the last straw for hov, b/c this trade comes across shortly after...

Aug 28 5:21pm: hov trades Á. Rodríguez, C. Delgado, K. Griffey Jr., J. Nathan, J. Garland to Highlanders v3 for A. Dunn, Á. Ríos, M. Timlin, M. Clement, D. Kolb

Now Highlanders was just bitching about the Anderson trade...I guess it's not a crime when you're the beneficiary. Anyway, that trade gets vetoed.

Now, hov makes this deal with Rattlesnake...

Aug 28 7:21pm: hov trades Á. Rodríguez, J. Nathan, B. Myers, H. Street to Heartbreak Kids for J. Morneau, T. Iguchi, S. Stewart, B. Mueller, A. Burnett

Not as bad as the other, but it's pretty obvious at this point that hov isn't coming back next year and he's a playoff team right now, so he's killing that too. Remember, Rattlesnake was one of the first to whine about the validity of the first deal. Also, Highlanders tried to accept an even bigger robbery. With that in mind, more hilarity ensues...

That offer is HORRIBLE by: Highlanders v3 (rodney9780) Aug 28 7:57pm

Whats going on here?

I love this, RS tries to justify it...

Some things to note by: Heartbreak Kids (mike_fsw) Aug 28 8:22pm

First of all, if you people had seen the offers that Hov sent me earlier.........LOL.......good Lord. I went to duk, discussed it for the good of the league, and continued to exchange offers with Hov until I got Burnett and Morneau on my end. Burnett is a surefire stud right now and Morneau is a young kid with potential who Hov really likes, as a Twins fan. Iguchi fills a hole for him at 2B, bigtime. The closers are honestly just throw-ins, as I'm not one of those people who puts a lot of value on closers. It's nice to have them, but I could never pay a high price for one.

Well, if Hov shows up tonight...... by: Heartbreak Kids (mike_fsw) Aug 28 8:33pm

That deal WILL be accepted, according to duk, without Brett Myers in the equation.

My View by: Highlanders v3 (rodney9780) Aug 28 8:42pm

If that deal goes through my stay in the league is done. Point blank. Its bullshit. Two closers w/ 25 plus saves (no matter what you say you think about closers...you are getting them) and the best fantasy player in the game should cost more. Im sorry, AJ is good and is a stud so far but thats about half of what it should take to get ARod alone. The other scrubs you mentioned are just that outside Justin of course.

HBK you cant be serious by: Sir Monks (monks56) Aug 28 8:50pm

Closers as throw ins? In a league like this I never heard of that before...where people are fighting hard to get 2 closers worht a damn...and you are getting 2 studs closers as throw ins? Man you take the cake

What's "official" hov by: Mojo (nbaflnet) Aug 28 9:48pm

Is that Garret Anderson is a aging star with back problems who I wasn't going to keep. Carlos Pena, on the other hand, is a young and coming first baseman with tremendous power that he is displaying nicely since his call up from the minors a few weeks ago. I've had Anderson on the block for ages and if you thought he was so damn great, you should have offered something...but you didn't.

Here's the deal, people by: Heartbreak Kids (mike_fsw) Aug 28 9:55pm

A-Rod is a stud, no doubt. The 2 closers I'm getting are great, no doubt.......but they're still just closers. I realize some of you place a high premium on closers, but I don't. Trust me, neither closer will be kept. I think we all mostly agree on that stuff. Where we disagree is on what I'm sending.

AJ Burnett is one of the best around right now - he's a bigtime stud. Morneau is a bigtime prospect who Hov really likes. Iguchi is playing great lately and he immediately starts at 2B for Hov. Bill Mueller is a very solid player, as is Shannon Stewart.

Some of you may not like this deal, and maybe you think it's not even, but it's not nearly as uneven as some of you are saying it is. I'm giving up quality players, especially Burnett.......and heck, Morneau's still got bigtime potential, too.

If it goes through - Im gone by: Highlanders v3 (rodney9780) Aug 28 10:01pm

Im sure I wont be the only one.

Ok by: Heartbreak Kids (mike_fsw) Aug 28 10:07pm

I'm biting my tongue here, but people threatening to leave over this is nuts. This deal is not that bad. Burnett is a ###### stud, Morneau is a great prospect - I'm essentially dealing those two plus Iguchi for A-Rod.

Let's lay it on the line here - people have seen me make 2 deals today, my team is greatly improved in the short-term because of them, now they see this deal - and nobody wants to see it happen. If any of you could acquire A-Rod, even if it meant giving up your top stud SP, you'd do it and you know it.

And some of you that are complaining have made some pretty poor deals in the past where you've given up virtually nothing, that's what is really funny about this.....

Here's my problem with that deal by: Tenacious D Aug 28 11:20pm

Hov is pissed about the other deals and tried to basically sell his team off earlier in the day. This deal isn't as bad as the other one, but it seems obvious he's not coming back next year and trading away A.Rod in a keeper league isn't a move someone who is returning makes. Trading A.Rod and two stud closers isn't something a playoff team does. If Hov gives his word he's coming back next year, this one is still tough to figure out, but a whole lot easier to swallow.

I don't get it... by: Nashville Knights (hov34) Aug 28 11:32pm

The NL Cy Young winner and Mark Mulder (a very very good, still young pitcher) go for Jimmy Sexton and no one says a damn thing? Now all of the sudden we are all up in arms about this trade.

So someone can trade the eventual Cy Young winner but not the eventual MVP? Hmmmm....

As of now, the commish vetoed the deal, even after B.Myers was removed (LOL, yeah, that was the only problem). To be continued...

I really like this league and would hate to see it implode. If Torrid has indeed had enough, and I can't say I would blame him, then we need a new commish because a league without one is heading for trouble.

Are there any volunteers? I might be willing but the issue for me is on handling the funds. It makes no logistical sense for all of you to have to send me international money orders for your fees and then for me to have to get another set of international money orders for payouts.

Just like to point out that a number of you have suggested that we use Yahoo to send league emails but that 2 or 3 of you have not entered an email address in the league. So some of you would miss these emails.

Anyways...just talk it through so we can resolve this like calm human beings. Keep in mind that this is fantasy baseball folks...we're not talking about crimes against humanity here.

WTF is going on with this guy. Explain the email saying no one should pick him up and why wasn't he assigned back to LA by you? I thought nobody was suppose to pick him up and I was the ######-up who did, but now Swerski did. I never would have ###### dropped him.

torridjoe, you want to use stupid ###### email as the method of communication for the league, then you don't ###### answer my email. How ###### hard is it to put a simple ###### message here or on the website too?

I either want Crosby back and my stats updated or a better ###### explanation about this latest stupid ###### overregulation and my waiver wire spot back.

This suppose to be a fun ###### game, but you try to regulate the ###### out of it. Focus on doing a better job of getting payouts on time and staying the ###### out of the way then another well-constructed <official> email you can pat yourself on the back for. A LOT more laissez faire is needed in this league. Start another blog or make some more posts if you need to hear/read yourself talk/write, instead of filling this emptiness by insisting on micromanaging the ###### out of this league to the strictest letter of the law and sucking all the fun out.

I could tolerate you being so anal as a commish about the little ###### if you weren't so utterly useless and incompetent when it came to things like issues of picking up and dropping a player the same day last year, without ever playing them, which screwed someone else of picking them up until waivers expired, AND burying your head in the sand when someone else carpet bombed adding and dropping as an intentional example in a hissy fit AND inability to handle collecting and distributing money in a timely fashion. Three focking things supremely more crucial to the effeciency of the league than OSHA-style minutiae inspection of lineups. Start to see the big picture.

My best friend in Montreal had been in a FB league for years but that league has now unexpectedly (well, sort of) folded. We actually used to co-manage a team in that pool but I dropped out about 3 years ago when the league got kinda goofy. He's asked me if he can help me with the current BOSMOSPOF team and I'd like that since we like to talk strategery. Torrid doesn't think there's a way to have co-owners on the site but I would be willing to just share my yahoo info with my friend so he can stay tuned with the league.

My question to youse is whether you have a problem with that. He's a class A guy and won't mess up the league. Trades and trade offers can go through me to keep it simple for everyone.

Lemme know watcha think.

The two moves I would like to take back are picking Bradley too early (panicked a little during an OF run) and taking Williams instead of prospecting for additional saves. I couldn't stand seeing Williams still there that late in the fraft.

As far as my team goes, I really need for Bonds to come back pretty quick (or for Kearns to get hot and Pena to be traded from CINC) and for Tsao to stay on as the COL closer. Wouldn't mind Hairston getting regular PT eventually as well.

I think I can compete...my SPs can't possibly be worse than they were at the beginning of last year when they would consistently put up 6 or 7 runs each and every game. Only took a few weeks to put me totally out of contention on the pitching side.

Nice Lopez pick by EMoney. He should just rush in here and pick like that for every round.

Monroe has good breakout potential; he had a big surge in the 2nd half last year, hits great against righties, does well home and road, and turns 28. As a fifth OF, a good bargain IMO.
