Muhsin Muhammad's worth as a #3 WR in PPR with Smith Back?

Recommended Posts

Half of what I read says Muhsin has zilch value now with Steve Smith back and hogging the targets.

The other half says Smith will draw defenders and Muhsin will benefit:

Muhammad might actually see more looks long term with Steve Smith back and garnering all the attention from opposing defenses.

With Steve Smith returning to the lineup in Week 3, Muhammad will match up against opposing No. 2 corners the rest of the way, which bodes well for his overall production even if his number of targets falls off a bit.

What do you think? Does he have some upside still?

Muh Muh is nothing more than a bye week filler or a flex option when he has a good matchup as far as I am concerned. I have 6 WRs on one team and I probably wouldn't start him over any of them on a regular basis.

Thanks for mine.

I agree that Muhammed is a fill in, at best. You're set at starter, barring injuries. If you have room, grab him, but don't go out of your way or drop someone decent for him.

Thanks for mine.

Stick with Muhammed if you need him. If you don't need him, keep him on the bench for about a week or two to observe his progress. I wouldn't drop him by any means, especially with the multitude of injuries thus far in the 2008-2009 season, which will likely continue. At the very worst, he will stay on your bench and can be plugged in for bye weeks or for good matchups. As for advice, again I will reiterate that I would keep him around and observe his progress. Both sides of the argument are very viable (Steve Smith will draw many double teams, but will also see a lot of looks). Definitely keep him around though, but keep an eye on his progress.

As a side note, both of your teams have two defenses. Not necessary in my opinion, although I don't know the specifics of your leagues. You will be better off getting another offensive threat or taking a chance on a guy with big upside. This year, you may even be able to get away with streaming your team defenses (which is what I'm doing) based on matchups. Pick up another WR or RB.

I think it will be hit or miss where he will have some big games and some games with no catches. It seems like the Panthers game plans the past couple of years have been very inconsistent in that you never know which player will have a big game.

Thanks for answering mine.

Moosh... will have couple of 100 yard games if any. The offense is build around steve smith. If Delhomme has a 300 yards game, half of them will be to Steve Smith. I dont think muhsh value increases with SSmith coming in. If whatever, the running game gets a push. Plus Stewart is a nice goal line back and they will power run most of the time to avoid injuries to Delhomme.

You can hold on to him if you dont see any recievers in free agency. In PPR, muhsh gets another 4-5 points.

All the Best !
