Traded - Got Warner for B.Edwards & Slaton (how did I do?)

I traded RB Steve Slaton and WR Braylon Edwards for QB Kurt Warner (and had RB Ahmad Bradshaw thrown in there to make it 2-for-2). I have terrible QB situation - reason why I did it. My team was below. Did I do well? I was going to try to get A.Rodger or Brees from an owner, but the Warner accepted first. My record is 4-4-1, and am .5 games back of a playoff spot.

 

Start 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 WR/RB flex, etc

QB: B.Favre, K.Orton (hurt ... why I had to go get a QB) [just got Warner]

RB: LT, J.Lewis, T.Jones, R.Torain, McAllister [traded Slaton]

WR: Marshall, Colston, Bowe, Royal [traded B.Edwards]

TE: O.Daniels

DEF: Ravens

K: <none> reason I needed to trade 2-for-1 or drop a player to pick someone up

 

I just heard Orton may not be gone that long, but I still may drop him to pick up D.Driver or D.Avery.

I think you did well, Braylon is junk right now and Slaton is solid but you still got Jones or Jamal to choose from to go w/ LT. Pretty even trade in my opinion. Thanks for helping on mine.

If this is a redraft league I like it a lot. This is a perfect time to sell high on Slaton and Edwards is having a rough year. Warner will help you starting lineup a ton. Look at it this way, which one is better:

 

Favre

LT

Slaton

Marshall

Colston

Bowe

 

or

Warner

LT

TJ or Lewis (play the matchups)

Marshall

Colston

Bowe

 

When you look at it this way I think it is easy to tell you did well, as long as it is not a dynasty league. If it is a dynasty league I would not have given up that much for a QB that may have this year and maybe one more left.

Its always nice to have that one-two combo with Brees and Colston(if he gets back on track)..I wouldnt blame you for trading for Brees with Warner; and favre will be good for a couple good games here and there..just ride them out because the AFC will a good competition come playoff time...

just as a quick correction from the last response, I'm not getting Brees. I am getting K.Warner. I would have had to pay more for Brees, and the Warner owner bit first. Now my only issue is whether I should drop Orton since there are reports he may come back soon ... and I don't want to have 3 QBs (Warner, Favre, and Orton).

I have Warner in almost all of my leagues and he has been just HUGE! Good move on your part. I have been trying to trade Warner in one of my leagues where I also have Brees and they pretty much have the same stats (though Boldin & Fitz are better WRs). As a Warner owner I would have accepted a Slaton & Edwards deal as well.
