The extraordinary arms purchase plan, known as Operation Avarice, began in 2005 and continued into 2006, and the American military deemed it a nonproliferation success. That would mean that the previous administration had this info and sat on it even though they were getting crushed in public opinion. Either some people here are tragically obtuse or they just enjoy the attention that inevitably comes with saying stupid things that beg for correction. Iraq had a huge cache of WMD's that were documented, inventoried, locked-up and put on UN surveillance after GW1. Those weapons were a known quantity. The run up to GW2 was about how Saddam had "reconstituted" his WMD program to include things such as nuke enrichment, mobile weapons labs and the abillity to launch WMD drones from ships off the Eastern Seaboard - not to mention a completely mythical relationship with AQ - which hated Saddam due to his treatment of Shia peoples. All you have to do is, again, WATCH or READ Colin Powell's speech to the UN to hear an exhaustive list of claims regarding these "new"/post inspection WMD's. - The majority of which proved to be completely false. The claims were largely supported by one single source named "curveball". He or his brother claimed to be nuke engineers, turns out he was a cab driver who REALLY wanted out of Iraq for good and hated Hussein. When we launched GW2, we stupidly didn't first secure the existing WMD caches prior to wiping out the C&C structures. As soon as we decimated their C&C, their was an open house on existing WMD's. The shiit scattered to the 4 winds and still isn't entirely accounted for. The CIA launched this buy-back program as an "oh shiit!" response to this monumental fock up. - Which is why BushCo sure did NOT want to publicize the fact that we were spending a small fortune rounding up 20 year old bio weps shells that should have been either secured or taken out while we still knew where they were. Did you read the whole article...or just what phurfur parsed to spin you right where he wanted you to go? Many rockets were in poor condition and some were empty or held a nonlethal liquid, the officials said. But others contained the nerve agent sarin, which analysis showed to be purer than the intelligence community had expected given the age of the stock. So...many had nothing...some still had some sarin that was still pretty old...but purer than they thought. THen they talk about the last article from October that I believe was posted here to try and prove something about Bush and blew up in the faces of you hacks then too. These munitions were remnants of an Iraqi special weapons program that was abandoned long before the 2003 invasion, and they turned up sporadically during the American occupation in buried caches, as part of improvised bombs or on black markets. These rockets were leftovers from the focking war with Iran. Not some evidence of an active chemical weapons program...which was what was sold to us about going to war. Drobs, phurfur, NV, and pork (likely RP too)...using this to claim Bush was right or not lying. (and then wonder why they rightfully get called hacks) Holy fock...can't make this up.
