Fair point, though it took 20 years for Trump to finally replace the Taliban with the Taliban but it took him 9 days to replace Khameini with Khameini Jr.2 points

Who knows what to think... it was either us or Israel and nobody's owning up to it. I had the sense it was Israel when initially reported because they were targeting so many high-density areas... and let's be honest - it'd be consistent with their lose-cannon track record in Gaza. Regardless I wish Trump would address it and say something like "we'll investigate the situation to find out who/how it was targeted to ensure it never happens again, but it's a terrible tragedy. We offer our deepest condolences. " It's the right thing to do and puts the US in a good light.1 point

I read the Tennessee law. One good thing is that the payments go to the court instead of the child getting a check every month from the person who killed their parent. But what if the drunk driver dies or goes broke? The kid gets nothing? The idea behind the law is good, but I think they need to take it further. Guarantee payment to the child in such cases. Then the court does its best to recover that amount of money from the perpetrator if possible. Either way the kid should get support. Otherwise the child could go from substantial help to no help overnight.1 point

This must be a fake article. The NY Times is a leftist propaganda outfit that somehow also favors Muslim extremists and would never publish something like this!!!1 point

The annual budget is $65 million? The pentagon flushes that much down the toilet daily before breakfast. For our government, that's not even pocket change. I'm not defending the agency, since I don't really know WTF it is that they do, just pointing out that in the grand scheme, $65 mil is nothing. And the LEGALLY part seems to always be a stumbling block for this admin.1 point

Grew up and went to college in Bloomington during the golden era of IU basketball. Like all kids in Indiana played basketball all the time and was a huge part of my childhood. An ode to the man, Robert Montgomery Knight.1 point

He’s only correctly the constant lies and misinformation spread here. I mean the crap you guys spew and consume is incredible. “Hormuz isn’t blocked”. “The mullahs are hiding in bunkers”. Etc. it time for you guys to wake up. Cheerleading for Trump and further incompetence isn’t going to help anything. We’re in this thing now.1 point

Speaking of this https://www.wsj.com/politics/national-security/trump-sons-back-new-drone-company-targeting-pentagon-sales-2f74abca “Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr., the president’s sons, are backing a new drone company that is vying to meet fresh demand from the Pentagon and fill a hole left by the administration’s ban on new Chinese drones in the U.S”1 point

Nearly a quarter of all global oil passes through. Saudi can re-route theirs to the Red Sea through pipe-lines, but apparently there's capacity issues and increased time. Kuwait and Iraq would need use of those pipelines to avoid the Hormuz... who knows how feasible or practical that is. You'd think naval ships would be able to keep a mere 25 mile straight open, especially against Iran's impotent navy. But it's the era of drones and Iran has a lot of coastline along the Persian Gulf. Might be impossible to totally safeguard. Even if the US could protect most ships, just a few sunken vessels would probably be enough to dissuade others from even trying.1 point

Many liberals I know are insisting that we stop this war immediately and just walk away from this. But they’re just as wrong as the Trump supporters who continue to believe that we can just bomb the crap out of Iran and then walk away whenever we like. None of them seem to realize the awful reality that it’s too late. Pandora’s Box has been opened and we’re in this for the long haul. We can’t allow a continual closure of the Strait of Hormuz. We can’t allow even the threat of closure. We can’t allow oil from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and UAE to be interdicted. Not now, not in ten years from now. We’re gonna be in Iran for a long time. Years or decades. It’s going to cost trillions and it’s going to cost American lives. It’s a forever war and victory, whatever that means, is questionable. We need to accept this.1 point

At least I can say I've always been consistent with that area. Those groups just fight constantly and nothing we do ever gets anywhere. Tell them to piss up a rope and figure it out.1 point

What you’re ignoring is that if they can effectively continue to close the Strait of Hormuz the rest of what you’re talking about makes no difference whatsoever. We can’t leave and allow them to close that strait or even threaten to close it. At the very least our forces will constantly need to keep it open. Your notion that we can simply walk away from this is, IMO, sheer fantasy.1 point

Absolutely! I'm a fan of an indie band called Electric Six. I thought they were a lot bigger than they apparently were, because they came to Orlando a few years ago I was stunned to see the ticket price was $15. They absolutely rocked at a small venue holding no more than 150 people. Even mingled with the crowd after the concert - got my picture with the lead singer. Absolutely the best concert I've ever experienced and I've seen lots of big names. Felt so bad about the cheap ticket prices that I bought a t-shirt. Small venue is the way to go.1 point

Reminiscent of Venezuelans who initially cheered Trump arresting Maduro, expecting a new democratic government. Only to have the next in line take over, make oil agreements with Trump, and retain office. Meet the new boss... Seems Trump expected Iran to collapse instantly just by taking out the leader and blowing stuff up. Originally talked about regime change "it will be yours to take" he first said speaking to Iranians. When it didn't collapse, he changed course within a few days talking about making a deal with new leaders within the regime. Hegseth and others followed suit saying "this isn't a regime change war, only to degrade military forces." Trump then reached out to the Kurds to join the fight and help topple the regime (back to regime change) and possibly change Iran's borders. Trump has since back-pedaled on the border change idea. Now Trump is simply calling for unconditional surrender. Apparently there was no long-term strategy as feared, and it's impossible to believe they'll agree to "unconditional surrender" just from rockets - that'll require thousands of military troops on the ground. Those troops won't be fighting against a brittle Iraq army which collapsed rather easily, but a much larger, disciplined, and well-armed Iranian army. On the flip side Israel is doing everything they can to create the regime change - killing leaders, destroying military forces, and even hitting police facilities. They're making the regime ripe for collapse. This will inevitably lead to a long and bloody civil war, very similar to Syria which lasted over a decade with hundreds of thousands dead and many refugees. Israel's goals don't seem to align with Trump's - though it's unclear if ever had one. Iran's response to all this (which frankly is their only and best option) is to inflict as much economic pain on the world as possible. What a quagmire.1 point

What’s important about Springsteen is that he’s standing up for justice and America and openly telling everyone what a terrible person Donald Trump is. That’s admirable, and courageous IMO, and I really don’t care how much his ticket prices are and how much he makes. So what? He’s on the right side, that’s what matters.1 point

If teenagers killed themselves because they were hiding being trans, do you think you would have been aware of it? Do you really believe it would be possible to keep statistics about such things? It’s just incredible to me that some of you all apparently believe that teenagers can be talked into becoming trans (or talked out of it.) So backwards.1 point

I’m not begging you to not put me on ignore lol are you insane?. I won’t lose a minute sleep. Your purposely being obtuse for whatever reason to defend Bruce Springsteen? You’re arguing just to argue. You know damn well liberals are always complaining about millionaires and billionaires. Why do they say that? Greed so then you have Mr. woke Bruce Springsteen doing a concert where he absolutely has jacked up his prices so asking oh I guess it’s not those millionaires and billionaires you guys have a problem with because not a chance any of you would’ve complained about it. You made a fairly simple comment be difficult for no reason whatsoever and apparently you’re the only one that doesn’t seem to understand it.1 point

Mayor Radical Islam is taking his queues from the NYT. White supremacist racist bigot protested. Then... some violence happened. More 3rd person. Is this like his Tlaib "some people did some things"? Not even a mention of other people there. Did these protesters use explosive devices? Sure sounds like it from this tweet. I imagine his advisor helped craft this. You know, the guy who spent his life as a lawyer getting Islamic terrorists freed.1 point
