  1. 1. That's not a fair comp. As bad as Dems are, the current GOP has zero credibility. True conservativism has been murdered by MAGA and today's Trump- aligned republicans are indeed RINOs. 2. Questioning sources is a legit complaint, agreed. But the report the Dems put together is nothing that hasn't been reported many, many times over by many, many (non right wing) media outlets. We already knew it happened. But "flood the zone" works so well that it's hard to keep track of all the bullshit. As always man, love our interactions even when we don't see eye to eye. You're good people, enjoy your weekend.

  2. Can't remember how much I've shared about her illness, but in 2020, she had a small stroke. Kind of ignored it, didn't get treatment. But that's when she started to kind of change. She was in denial, didn't share with us that she had *maybe* lost portions of her vision. Had a larger stroke later that year, diagnosed with Parkinsons. Over the last 6 years, she's had more small strokes, and the one in Sept 2023 is what mostly took away everything. She couldn't walk anymore and was placed into a care home. She continued to get worse and eventually lost the ability to really move, speak, and was bed ridden. Last weekend, her breathing was affected and she went into the ER. Due to having an advanced directive (please get one if you don't have one), and very strict DNR requests, she was made comfortable and passed Tuesday afternoon. I was with her from Sunday to Tuesday the entire time with the exception of a few hours on Monday. No matter how much you think you mentally prepare for this, especially after prolonged illness, it still hits you.

  5. I love ya Volty, but you're crocked. I'll just respond to your last statement, as this does belong in the Iran thread. Since cockwomble started a war in Iran, and Iran (allegedly) attacked water systems in Minnesota, which caused the President of the focking USA (of which Minnesota is still part of last I checked) to blame :checks notes: the government of the state for poisoning it's own citizens. After, of course, reducing the amount of personnel dedicated to counterterrorism in this country because there were some brown people that needed to be put in their place. Yeah this guy can fock RIGHT off.

  9. Eh, I’d say there’s a lot of evidence of people disconnected from reality about Fauci. No doubt they’ll indict him (whether the Senate votes for contempt or not) & my guess is it will go the way of the other Pirro & DOJ due process disasters to date. But as we’ve seen even a court’s findings have no impact on people with TDS, so we shall see. I look forward to the same ‘it never happened’ reactions.

  20. They're overwhelmed because several thousand DHS "agents" were unleashed on the streets to conduct a massive operation for which they did not engage the state leadership at all. High staff turnover is due in large part to career prosecutors and US Attorneys that refused to carry out what they considered to be unlawful and unethical cases pushed by their MAGA bosses. Many of them are now defense attorneys for the folks that got railroaded by DHS. Most of the cases brought against protestors fall apart in court due to the corruption and ineptitude of the current DOJ. This is happening in every area that saw huge influxes of agents and is well documented throughout the (non right-wing) media. The feds refuse to investigate two killings of American citizens perpetrated by their agents under highly questionable circumstances, which until now has always been SOP. You're right about the prosecutors still in place. Many of them are corrupt, which is shown by their willingness to continue prosecuting cases that have no chance in court due to DOJ's own negligence, ineptitude, and extrajudicial malfeasance. They can't prosecute local cases because the admin never thought to plan or fund in anticipation of the massive wave of immigration cases. Your statement about the local cops is pure partisan fallacy. Ever been to MN, Volty? C'mon up for a visit someday. Me and some of the minny geeks like @easilyscan would happily show you a good time in our beautiful state. We even live in a district that elected a Republican rep, so you won't feel like you're in constant danger.

  22. Acknowledged. I didn't try to hide where it came from. But what they're saying is well documented fact that we have known about for a long time. And those facts only buttress the arguments we've already made: the biggest threat to election integrity and national security in this country is sitting in the Oval office. Does anyone on the "conservative" side have anything to say about this other than questioning sources?

  24. Election security is sooooo important. Why did Trump reduce the size and efficacy of counter-terrorism and election security agencies? Democrats document staffing gaps in counterterrorism and election security Democrats are saying that counterterrorism infrastructure has been “basically eviscerated” thanks to the Trump administration. Some highlights: The admin purposely reduced staffing in those agencies and has not replaced them. Then he blames Minnesota for trying to poison its own citizens because he can't admit he started a moronic war. Trump is scum.

These last few years have been tough on our relationship as we haven't seen eye-to-eye on a lot of family dynamics (me getting re-married, step-kid dynamics, my mom's opinions on these dynamics being different than mine)...and it's been tough to see past those things and remember that she's still my mom and maybe deserves more grace than I tend to give her. Maybe. Regardless, I know my time with her is shorter than the time I've had with her. Thanks for the reminder. And Ts&Ps.

  30. That's a well done spot. It's a bummer she's running on an anti-co(R)ruption campaign. That message will die quickly and violently in today's GOP, which is entirely centered around enabling (their own leader's) corruption. While I have no issues with Tafoya personally, it'll be at least one more cycle before I even consider voting for a Republican for anything. My US Rep is a useless MAGA POS that gets elected on doling out farm subsidies.

The most important thing about holding individual stocks is something that was included in one of the pamphlets I received when I subscribed to IBD for a year back in the early 2000s. Rule #1: When you pick a loser, NEVER let it become a big loser. When you're down 8%, dump it.
