Ray "LONG GAIN" Rice

direct tv called me and told me the total choice package that I now own is not going to be available anymore.
They game me the best package for 5 months, all the movie channels...yada...yada...yada.....also I ended up getting NFL Sunday Ticket plus SuperFan ....both FREE!
I just need to change my basic package by the end of december, so I do not get billed for that big package.

I can not see the Bengals making the playoffs.
Coach Marvin Lewis lost this team over a year agao in my opinion......all the antics with Chad Johnson and such.....once you lose a team, i believe it is lost, you cant get it back.
It seems to me he has absolutely no control over the team.
All that $hit with Chad needed to be stopped at the moment it started, it is way too late now.
Team needs a new coach....one that will show alittle disapline.

I really never have been much on drafting rookie WR.....I just have a hunch about a guy I think just possibly could grab maybe 7 tds on the high end.
Maybe this guy cant do it either, but I dont feel there are any real studs ahead of him....what are your thoughts on WR Hakeem Nicks? Dont ask my why....I just thing he is a good fit here with a chance to succeed.

Who would be your top 5 rookie wr that you would want in a keeper league....the league is a TD only League!

I am in a keeper league and it is a TD only league...
My RB are
1. Deangelo Williams
2. Pierre Thomas
3. Lendale White
4. Ray Rice
I do not need Rice to perform this year, however I do believe he will emerge as the Ravens run the ball more than ANY other team, so there is actually alot of carries there for the taking, even if they are split up....he is also an awsome receiver who can catch 60-70 balls a season.
Next season McGahee will be gone and rice will be the primary runner...even though I expect that to happen by mid to late season this year.

I'll stick with the "rice lacks vision" comment....this is the NFL, not Rutgers. I think Rice is going to be a between the 20's runner (very frustrating). He'll get some yards, but inside the red zone, Mcgahee and Mcclain will be in the backfield.
Don't forget, just like down the stretch last year, in cold crappy november weather, baltimore will like nothing more than to run a talented 260lber down peoples throats. Mchgahee and Rice were both available to play when this occured last year.
You could say many things about Ray Rice if you do not like him.....saying he has poor vision is just plain stupidity
You can go on the internet and read all the scouting reports on ray Rice that you want, most will say he has EXCELLENT vision and sees the field very well.....it is a well know fact that this is one of his biggest assets.......I believe the scouts on this.....however I watched him run alot, and it is pretty obvious that guy has great vision.
He very well could be a between the 20's runners....but to say he lacks vision is BS

I disagree with what was said here about Ray Rice not having good vision....that is one of his stong points....among many others......as you can see he averaged 12 touches a game last year , when he played....he missed 5 games.....his touches will only go up....a very talented RB, and the future of the ravens running game , in my opinion.
2008 stats
107 carries 454 yards 4.2 yard average
33rec. 273 yards 8.3 yard average
Had a game vs the Browns that saw 21 carries for 154 yards
Had a game vs the Colts that saw 7 receptions for 64 yards
Rice had almost as many receptions as Mcgahee and Mclain combined
Mclain had 232 carries last year....that won't happen again, barring injury to Rice
For me....Rice has by far, the most talent of any RB on the Ravens....and I believe it will really shine this year......and in a keeper league....he is a must have!

We have 2 divisions with 7 teams in each division.
The division winner with the best record gets the bye...the other division winner is the number 2 seed.....then 3 thru 7 seeds are by their record.

Pierre Thomas has some talent....after all, he kept Mendenhall on the bench, for the most part in college.
The Saints will be in the red zone plenty of times, and Thomas is also an excellent pass catcher........nothing not too like IMO.

Rice will make an impact and get his share of touches....plus he will be on the field for all 3rd downs, IMO.
He is an awsome receiver as well as a runner........next year he will really shine and take over the offense, IMO.
Rice will be good this year, and great next year.
I am in a keeper league and I will stash him on my roster this year, so i can reap the rewards next year.

I picked Pierre up at the end of last year as a free agent in our keeper league.
It is a TD only league for me and I have him ranked as my number 2 rb.
1. DeAngelo Williams
2. Pierre Thomas
3. Lendale White
4. Ray Rice.......hoping the job will be his by 2010 season......I am in a nice position as I dont need him to produce this year, and I just love his upside...the kid can run and catch.

I own him in our Dynasty TD only league....he has been money.
I hope he is still fat enough.....I mean big enough to run over people and fall in the endzone from inside the 5 yard line

I would not be too scared to have Marion Barber....actually I think Felix will help keep him stay fresh and not be over used. I also believe Barber will be the primary TD maker.
Thomas Jones will not have to carry the load here......I really like Greene on this team as a keeper .
Deangelo Williams...make no mistake about this kid...he IS the REAL DEAL. Jonathan Stewart is also a great runner.....Carolina is very lucky.
Surely you saw DeAngelo run last year. That was not luck my friend....he is a very talented RB who has great receiving skills as well.
He is powerful and is big enough to take it in from inside the 5 yard line, and he can take it 80 yards to the house as well....he is a top 3 talent in my book. The kids makes more 20 + yard runs than anybody I have seen in along time. Great vision and great balance and great feet = great RB.
With that being said, I would not expect 20 TD's again...that is hard to duplicate.....but I would expect between 10-15 Td's.

I really pay attention to it for weeks 14-16
It is nice to have a player going against someone like the Lions in those weeks.

Now that I think of it. What TE's and WR's do you think will be kept? Narrowing down your projected player pool will also be a good indicator of who you should keep as your last player. A backup RB who might have a future upside, or a top TE and a serviceable WR that would serve you well right now.
Well, when you have a 14 team league.....there wont be many guys left unprotected than will score you double digit td's......I mean you can count on one hand the wr's that do that to start with....so our draft is alot about the future of your team...trying to hit on that gem.
Picking in the 8 hole , I am going to guess that I will get the 2nd WR off the board......I am thinking the best free agents will be.....Gonzo...Chad...Roddy White, possibly......then some veterans that score between 5- 7 td's
Keeping 2 QB and 4RB leave me a great luxury of taking 2 wr in the first 22 picks in the draft....while most will be scrambling for a starting QB or a nice 2nd QB and RB's......my focus can be WR and another Defense

I like keeping Gonzo myself.
Turner had a huge number of carries last year. I'm not quit sure White is as good as his stats were last year. I need another year to be a believer. I think Gonzo is going to be a key security blanket, and a bigtime endzone target for Ryan.
I think those 2 could be the best QB/TE combo this year.
On a side note.
What is it like being in an only TD league?
Do/have you played in any regular leagues that use normal scoring.
I guess I'm very intrigued be hearing someone plays in this type of format, as I don't know anyone else.
Probably a guy like TJ Duckett who would be useless to me, would be fantasy gold to you?
And your rankings would be the hardest part to adjust too?
I have played in your standard scoring leagues on the internet, yahoo and the likes....but I much prefer the TD only scoring much better.
For one thing you can sit down sunday after noon with the nfl sunday ticket and you know right where your team stands...you know the score of your game at all times right as it happens....we also like the fact that the scores of our games are more like the scores of a real nfl game...like 34-21.....rather than 125-89.....so you just target the TD makers on your team and dont worry about the possesion receivers to much...get the Playmakers.
We have 14 guys in our league and it makes the scoring fast and easy and our league has brought it up for vote a few times to change the scoring....but it has never come close to passing...so i believe we will use it forever.

Thanks for all of the responses guys. I may have to consider keeping Gonzo or Chad over Ray Rice....I think I will let it play out in the pre season and see if McGahee is still there.
The running backs go fast in our Draft, as Rice went within the top 6 picks last year....the reason being that rookie wr hardly do anything and the really good wr's are already on a roster....leaving a large amount of wr's that score between 5-8 td's per year available.
I still believe very strongly that Ray Rice can be a 4 down back in this league and score his share of td's.....I mean he will play 4 games against the Browns and Bungles...I really Like his chances in those match ups.
At the number 8 pick, I will get a decent WR, and maybe even a shot at Crabtree....that would be a pick for the future, but I would be willing to do that.

Well, so far from what I have seen from Josh Daniels....I would say he is very dumb....I mean when ever you have to trade a franchise QB! It is too hard to find a franchise QB...just ask the Detroit Lions, they are still trying to relace Bobby Lane

I think you are right on with your keepers. Most will prob not agree on Rice but I like the guy to be the man in BAL. The only prob is L.McClain is prob going to take TDs from him. As receivers go Ochocinco is in line for a great year so I could see keeping him over Rice not to mention I think you could get Rice back in the draft if you like him but I doubt Ochocinco will make it down to the 8th spot.
Yes, it is a tough decision for me between Rice and Chad....I think I probly like Ray Rice more than most, and especially for the future....I think he is too good of a runner not to mention his great receiving skills to keep on the bench. I am very weary abot Mcclain getting the Td's however...and this is a TD league. I just love Rice's skillset and I thought that he was the 2nd best RB in last years draft.....most won't agree.

Don't believe the hype---this has all of the makings of a guy who everyone and their mother will be targeting as a "buy low" guy, which will mean that someone will likely end up overpaying for him as a way to make sure they get the "bounce back player of the year" and can then trumpet to anyone who will listen that they had the balls to reach for a "potential top 3 wideout"...the reality is, even the best case scenario probably ain't that great. For instance, even if he "bounces back" to pre-'08 form, don't forget that he was one of the most wildly inconsistent of the "top" wrs, week to week, even at his best. As in, three down weeks, and then a 3 td game, followed by four down weeks, then a 2 td game...A couple of years ago, his numbers were almost entirely found in a few week span in the middle of the season---just the type of guy that kills in a h2h league--too good to bench, too inconsistent to win each week. So, if he "bounces back" to that, you have yourself a potential lineup headache each week. And, if he produces like last season, you spent a mid round pick on a guy who won't ever crack your lineup. The best advice I would give is to draft him ONLY after you have three or four quality options on your roster that makes him a complete luxury pick...If he puts up top 10 numbers, you have a steal, if not, no big deal...Otherwise, I'd let some other poor sap overpay and NEED 85 to produce like it was a few years ago.

Hey guys....I have been coming to this site for a number of years now and reading peoples opinions...I have decided to join finally, and glad to be onboard.
I am in the same fantasy league "The Dirty Dozen" now for this the 19th year! We are called the "Dirty Dozen", however we have 14 teams. We play head to head for 13 weeks, once against each team, then the playoffs.
It is a TD only league, it is also a keeper league. Your roster consist of 14 players...2 QB...4 RB.......4WR.....2Kickers....2 Defenses
A starting line up consist of 1 QB 2RB 2WR 1 Kicker 1 Defense....if you wish you can use 1 RB and 3 WR
On defense you get any tds that are by int. return....fumble return.....or blocked punt or blocked FG returned for td. You also get 1 point each for each sack....fumble recovered and int. The QB gets 3 points for every TD pass.
At the end of every season we keep any 6 skill position players that you want and 1 Kicker and 1 Defense....making our draft for the most part 6 rounds with a big emphasis on rookies.
You can keep less skill players than 6 if you wish.
Here Is My Team heading into this years draft, where I will be drafting 8th out of 14. I am looking at drafting WR's with my first 2 picks for sure.
Tell me what you think of my team....remember....this is a TD only league...yards, and catches get you nothing.

I am mainly keeping him as I really like his upside, and quite frankly after 18 years of doing this, I realize that the RB position is where your TD's come for the most part.

I have had Chad on my Fantasy team for about 6 years now , as we have a keeper league.
Our league is a TD only league.....so throw out all the catches and yards.....he has only gotten double digit td's in one of those years I believe.
I will not be keeping him this year, I will be keeping RB Ray Rice instead.
I just don't see Chad scoring any more than 10 td's, and that would be a great year for him....I am going to guess 7-8, as that seems to be the norm.

I like Hakeem Nicks......below are his strong points, and why I like him.
1. Best hands in the draft......there is a reason for that....they are HUGE....they had to ghet the kid XXXXL gloves!!! Big hands and he knows how to use them.
2. Ability to run after the catch....i believe this is his 2nd best quality.
3. Has the knack for getting seperation
I am not saying he is going to emerge right away, and some other receivers will probly be better this year.......but in 2 or 3 years he will arrive big time......just my opinion.
