  1. Anything you can spend pre-tax dollars on instead of after tax is totally worth it. We put money away every year for estimated kids medical, etc. A couple years ago, I used the pre-tax dollars to have my lasik surgery. Smart planning, but I believe it is, "use it or lose it"! So be smart.
  2. He was invisible last week, but coming off the concussion, that was to be expected. I dunno, he is #18 among WRs in my league. He was huge for several weeks. He is not gonna be the #1 WR in any league all year in my opinion. Unless you have great bench options, why would you sit him in THAT offense that has to throw? Cincy has a good QB and Chad on the opposite side. I think TJ is in a great position. (I own him in one dynasty league)

    throwing games on purpose?

"Throwing games" is a terrible way to help deteriorate your league. Once you allow it, where does it stop the next year for someone else? If you don't have a rule against it, the league should adpopt a formal rule. Absent the rule, have a little integrity and don't fall into that trap.
  4. Heard on the radio that the Bears put Hester back there because they were afraid the Giants would pooch-punt it.
  5. I thought Jones looked good last night. Barber got one TD in garbage time. Parcells will probably use both depending on the situations.

    MIKE BROWN OUT FOR YEAR?

I am a Bear's fan and losing Brown will definitely hurt. However, Mike has been pretty fragile the last couple years and the defense looked pretty good when he was out. From a fantasy standpoint I would not sell that defense unless someone really overpays for it. They are still a top 3 DEF in any league and they could easily be the leader by a large amount. They are going to score a lot of defensive TDs this year. I have them in several dynasty leagues and no way am I jumping ship because they lost one player. Do yourself a favor and hang firm!

    Shuffleboard/Game Tables?

Guys, Finished my basement last year partially for the kids and partially for the adults. We have the new big screen TV and I want to add a game table or two. We would love a pool table, but it would just not fit right and I hate when I play pool at a home where there is always a wall or post in the way. I was thinking that maybe a shuffleboard table would be fun ....something for the adults to gather around and play with a beer or two. They are not cheap, however, so I don't know. Will probably get an air hockey or foosball table for the kids (although, I hate foosball, my wife and the relatives seem to like it). Any of you have a shuffleboard table or have another recommendation?

    Bears did NOT "Get Lucky"!

I thought Green did a decent coaching job. I saw him mixing in throws with the necessary runs to burn off the time. He didn't just sit on his lead. He didn't fumble the ball and didn't let the punt returner run past him. The only thing I would have done differently and I thought it at the time, is to tell the punter to kick the ball out of bounds on the last few punts to Hester. I thought that was a mistake waiting to happen.....and it did. It was pretty clear the Bear's offense was going nowhere last night.

    Leinart is ESPN's next Favre

I'm a Bear's fan and I thought Leinert was extremely impressive. He deserves a lot of kudos considering he's a kid who has virtually no pro experience. In 2 -3 years he will be a top 5 QB.

Foood combinations other people think are wierd

Your Dad was Elvis? If Elvis ate it, then he must have got the recipe from my dad!

Foood combinations other people think are wierd

I give my dad credit for inventing this sandwich (I know one else who ever heard of it, but who knows?) Most people think it is sick, but if I once they try it, they ususally really like it: Toast some bread Put on Peanut Butter Fry up some bacon and put it on the peanut butter. If you like lettuce, put a piece on for a little texture Add some crunchy potato chips and an ice cold glass of milk on the side and there is a great little meal.

    When you're 0-5 or 1-4

In one year leagues, if I have a lousy team, I generally don't give in to any trades unless they are totally fair for both sides. I am not gonna give up LT for Reggie Brown and Jamal Lewis for instance. I just figure it will upset the balance of power in the league and if I drafted crappy, I have the duty not to make some ridiculous trade to help someone else (in effect screwing other guys in the league). Not saying your trade offer was ridiculous, but maybe that is what the other guy thinks. Much easier in Keeper Leagues where you can trade for future draft picks or young guys with huge upside. Just my $.02.

I picked up Turner in a keeper

You might be an A-hole. Who knows? Why would picking up Turner be a deciding factor? I think Turner has a better chance of going to Clev, Hou, Jax or maybe even GB.

Mark Anderson = Front Runner for DROY?

He won't get enough playing time for ROY in my opinion. Even if he gets double digit sacks the voters will assume a lot was in garbage time or because of the overall quality of the Bear's D. He is a nice player with some upside potential for sure. He totally got overlooked in the draft because people understimated his speed and he is a little under-sized. He was a captain on his team and a tremendous player in his conference. He just kept falling in the draft and in the 5th round, Angelo could not pass him up.

    Lasik

Had it a couple years ago and I love it. As I age I still need reading glasses, but that is okay. It should last forever, but age can cause the vision to deteriorate somewhat just like for people who have not had the surgery. It is pretty safe, but like any supposedly "safe" surgery, something COULD happen, although it is rare. Cost is coming down (I paid about $3,500 - pretax with some tax advantages bringing the actual cost closer to $2,600). I would not be trying to get the lowest price for something like this. I would get the best doctor possible with access to the most up to date advanced laser.

    ***Colston position debate***

It is what it is. If you play in Yahoo, you have to live with their rules. My Saints experts tell me he NEVER played TE for the Saints but he did a little at Hofstra. How he got listed at TE is sort of a mystery. Maybe it happened after the Saints got rid of Hilton and the other guy (can't remember his name). I have Colston in a couple leagues run by different groups. He always was a WR and he has been a very good WR. Especially happy in my Dynasty Leagues.
  18. Talent concerns aside, the consensus I have heard is that Culpepper is not 100% recovered from his surgery and that it will take him til next season to be where he should be.

    Video of the face stomp?

I think the whole board agrees this guy deserves major league action. Now.....if only those NFL League guys will grow some cahoones (sp?).

    Video of the face stomp?

Hey, take it easy. I agree the action was awful. He should get suspended all season, if it was up to me. I am only commenting on his statements made in the paper. It doesn't make it right or correct the violence, but he was quoted as saying he deserves whatever punishment they can dole out. No, I did not see his post game interview.

    Video of the face stomp?

I read a statement from Haynesworth and as pathetic as his actions were, at least he acknowledged it and is taking responsibility for his actions. Compared to some of the other losers around the league, at least he knows he totally screwed up.

    LCD vs Plasma

Last December I was researching the same thing for my newly finised basement. It came down to the newest 60'' SONY LCD (Can't remember the number) or the 56" Mitsubishi DLP. They were side by side at the store with the same football game on. The Sony was a couple hundred more than the DLP. Went with the Sony mainly because it seemed less can go wrong than with the DLP. Also, we have had good luck with Sony in the past and the picture was a tad brighter, which I liked. Pictures were very comparable and I would have been happy with either set. Thought the DLP had a little extra trailing picture with real fast movement on the screen. Not too big a deal, but... Ended up with the Sony and am very happy. Non-HD programs are not that good to watch on any of them (Plasma, LCD or DLP), in my opinion.

    Tiki Barber

Nobody with any common sense is gonna dump Tiki. He will have a good year, but no player lights it up every week.
  25. Sometimes things just don't work out. I don't think you can beat yourself up over injuries. Nobody knew the S Smith injury would keep him out this long. Jordan....well.. the raiders are in for a tough year, but it is easy to revisit the past. Smith will be back and will be a top 10 WR. Hopefully Jordan will bounce back on that team and you can get into the playoffs. Anything can happen once you get in.
