Giants Fan?

It shows my last post at 2008. I have not been back since then. Can anyone tell me what I have missed. Does Giants Fan still post? Love that guy.

Many times teacher of the year is a popularity contest. A teacher gets sick one year and she is fired? Third party evaluator watches every teacher, every day, all day?

So since you have it bad, everyone should have it bad? Perhaps we should channel our energy so people do not work 16 hour days without overtime, or work on these people not working 7 days a week. Why dont you need a top on a pot of crabs? Because when one crab tries to crawl out, the rest pull him back in.

Yes I am. Principals only care about keeping the parents happy. Teachets who challenge students with rigours work many times are villianized by parents who only care about their child getting an A. Principals love teachers who make parents happy. I.E. everyone gets good grades, easy class. How would you rank teachers for a lay off? You honestly think principals would not use this as way to lay off teachers making the most money?

Ok so in the story above, how should the school district lay off teachers if the do not use years of service?

What is your problem with the middle class? Would it really be a bad thing for fireman, teachers, cops, solders, blue collar workers, etc. to make a good living wage? Do you trust the goverment or company management to take care of the workers?

Ok, I will bite. The idea of ranking teachers is preposterous. Too many variables exist. The only far way to do this is by experience. In your world, would the principal have say on who stays and who goes? Would that be fair? Teacher tenure was created to ensure teachers jobs are safe from parents upset for no reason, principals who do not like a teacher for a petty reason, etc. The only way to fairly cut teachers has to be last hired first fired.
