Interesting trend from my 6 pt for QB TD pass league
Puddleglum replied to Matt Mueller's topic in FFToday Board
Our league is 6 pt TDs, -1 INTs, 20 yds/pt, Roster: QB,RB,RB,WR,WR,TE,W/R,K,D. Background: I've only been playing FF for ~5 years. People go CRAZY for QBs. It starts early and by the middle rounds people are panicking and drafting QBs 2-3 rounds ahead of ADP, people with elite QBs drafting backup QBs as soon as other slots are full, etc. Anecdotal evidence from me: Two years ago I sat out on the madness and ended up with Garrard and some other shmoe, played QB flavor of the week all year and just missed the playoffs. I blamed LT more than the QB situ but had a nagging desire to get an elite QB in 2010. So I learned up on VBD and found that while we were going a bit to far in our league in the middle rounds, in the first round we were actually UNDER valuing the elite QBs based on our roster and scoring system - no matter how I fiddled with the numbers, the only guys showing up ahead of Rodgers in VBD last year were AD and CJ2K. So I drafted him in the #7 spot and went on to win the league, even with a blown 2nd-round pick in D.Will. -
If you would start a NFL team from scratch...
Puddleglum replied to RicemanX's topic in FFToday Board
rodgers peterson megatron revis c. matthews First five names that came to mind when I thought "young and elite at their position." But a RB with 4 years of wear is probably a bad move, and there's a good argument to be made that Rodgers doesn't need an elite WR, so probably swapping one or both of those two with Suh or Ngata and an LT would be smart. Not going to spend too much time thinking about it though. -
JC will go off for 2000+/12+ this year, and Haley & Co. will bring in Clinton Portis in the offseason and list him as the starter, just watch.
-
This is probably the best reason to avoid Charles. I had him last year and he was brilliant, but my goodness, it is so frustrating to see the guy's potential go under-utilized. But taking the heartburn factor out it, I would say JC's ceiling is as high as any player in the league, and I'd take him over McCoy for that reason. Plus you will have more fun watching JC's highlights, the dude is just ridiculous.

Annual "I am going to cancel my Sunday Ticket" deal
Puddleglum replied to abair058's topic in FFToday Board
They are giving it away for free to new subscribers, lot of reports at the other site of successfullly getting Sunday Ticket 2011 free PLUS knocking down their monthly bill for 6-12 months. Sounds like the best route is to use "cancel my DTV service entirely" as the barganing chip. -
Last year I tempted the football gods and drafted my team's QB as my fantasy QB, somehow it worked and pulled off the unthinkable, won my league and the Packers took the SB. As such I have taken a solemn vow not to complain about the Packers or my FF team for five years. We'll see how long it lasts but this year for sure I know I'll be able to enjoy as PURE FUN. Winning the SB is real hard, who knows how this season will end, but one thing we can bank on is the Packers are loaded with young stars and great coaches, and they are going to give us some quality football this year. GO PACKERS!

With Hightower out of the picture the 10th round is crazy talk. I'm sure that ship will have sailed by the time most are drafting for real.
-
Totally agree with this.
-
Yeah, the correct answer is that the guy to own is probably not on the roster yet. But when in doubt, grab the lowest guy on The Rat's depth chart. Man was that just last year? I forgot about the Redskins 2006 RB Greatest Hits Collection, they even tried to get Westbrook didn't they?
-
D.Will burned me last year but I would draft him again if the price was right.

The 400 fans who got booted out their seats....
Puddleglum replied to cyclone24's topic in The Geek Club
I am okay with the $2400 plus all expense paid trip to the next Super Bowl. If you're a Packers fan, there's no way to replace seeing Rodgers win his first SB, so no matter what the compensation is you're going to be bummed. Letting them on the field postgame might might have taken the edge off it just a bit though. If you're a Steelers fan, the deal "feels" a little better because your team didn't win and you didn't miss anything historic. Either way this was a royal screw-up by Jones and the NFL in the first place. In many ways it felt like the glitz took precedence over the game and this was the worst example of it. -
If Megatron doesn't set the ball down at the end of the week 1 Chicago game, the Packers are the number two seed. Trust me, pick any play you want to change to make the Packers miss the playoffs, I can pick one that give them a first round bye. It was that kind of season.

That's a cool stat.

So proud of the Green Bay Packers.
