    Why "experts" do this?

Take "experts" with a true grain of Grade-A BS. Years back, I thought these guys were just that, "experts". Until I started writing for sites and quickly realized that at the end of the day, we were all folks with opinions, with a forum to spout them. Did I feel like I knew my stuff? Sure. Many of these decisions are pure common sense. Don't over-think. You drafted guy relatively high, START HIM. Of course, there are always exceptions - hell, last season I grabbed Kamara off the waiver wire and he helped carry me to a championship with both him and Ingram... most weeks playing them both... This season the guy was a top 4-5 overall pick. But last year, who knew? But so much of this is opinion, subjective, and at the end of the day, not worth a whole lot. You know what Dirty Harry said about opinions.. You post "Start 'Em's" and Oddly enough, come Sunday night, many of them should have been "Sit Em's". The guy you exclaimed should be left on the bench? Blew up on your bench no doubt. Ah the fantasy pundits. I was always of the school of thought, and I know it is Old School, but you "start your studs".. Players are viewed as such not because they play well against sub-par opponents, but because they do so against most if not all opponents. Now with the influx of flex positions, decisions are widened. Choices are plentiful, but that is maddening in itself. 8 spots - 8 quality performers - call it a day. But now it is a chess match and the chess pieces are akin to mental manhole covers. Rosters are huge, talent pools are thin, and the decision making all the more ridiculous, because you are weighing one marginal talent against another marginal talent. I keep up on news regarding injuries, dabble in some common sense and make up my own mind... but reading multiple articles, getting burdened with opinions... ugh who needs it? I'd rather kibitz with you fine folks!!

    Graham - out 4-6 weeks

Ugh... Graham was maddening marginal with all 10 digits healthy - can't see a splint on his thumb helping his production in a positive way. It'll be like trying to catch with a paint stirrer taped to your hand. Haha

Who the hell is Gus Edwards

Ah, Mr. and Mrs. Edwards son.

    Brandon Marshall to the Saints

That's saying something especially since they spend a lot of time in the red zone.

    League Issue

Paying the next year fee is a nice thought, but again, if he is leaving.. let the new owner pay the fee and steer the ship of the team. Not be left not paying for the crap the previous owner left behind. Gee, thanks pal. If you are leaving, be competitive, start a solid team every week and put a lid on the general manager activities. Punch him in the face in front of his family. Then veto this silliness. It's a win/win.

    Golden Tate traded to PHI

Jeffery will likely benefit - Tate is another attention-grabber for sure. Ahholor? Moves back a step - he is not having the same success as last season - maybe it'll help him in the long run - and Matthews? Bah. It was a nice story to have him back in the mix, but his best days are a county mile behind him.

How did FF leagues work before the internet?

I am getting misty with nostalgia here. Yep, we also cleared the scores with that week's opponent and called it in to the commish..

How did FF leagues work before the internet?

Agreed, good ol' days.. Live drafts - up close and personal shots taken at your fellow owners after EVERY PICK.. LOL The USA Today sports box scores were official and were perused over - remember being one point down?? Feverishly looking and looking and looking for that fumble recovery or fumble lost... and god forbid if the box score was off - and you actually saw the game locally - THAT WASN'T A FUMBLE!!!!! - despite the fact you were privy to an obvious miscue - too bad!! USA Today was LAW. Actually crap like that were few and far between.. More? No flex position, people on the help board actually helped and didn't beg incessantly for you to "ANSWER MINE" or "LEAVE A LINK".. (lazy asses)... The toolbags at CBS with their backwards ball caps - now they are "professional" dart-throwers in suits and ties.. Ah the mighty pundits. As clueless today as they were then. With the exception of a few I leaned on then and still lean on today. Scanning the local papers in every NFL (been there, done that..) city for that nugget of information... who remembers "our favorite newspaper sites" from the mastermind? Pay sites - BAH. Silly then - sillier now. The few FF magazines out there were the SHEEEAT. Never mind they were obsolete pretty much the minute you plunked down $7.99 and left the store.. The Fantasy Football Index.. the bible back in the day. FFToday is still going strong - and for good reason.. Mike does yeoman's work. I have been here for well over a decade for a reason. Sadly, Gone are the daily days of ffmastermind, redeyesports, the original pigskin addiction.. so many more.. The hobby sadly got itself into a big damn hurry. I am on a roll.. I remember the days when the networks, the leagues, etc all shunned this hobby. Hardly recognized it. Until one day it dawned on some suit in a corner office that crazy peeps like us spend MILLIONS on this hobby yearly.. maybe we ought to pay it some mind. Funny, I felt like they invaded our fraternity tho... but I digress.... Now, you can't go anywhere without an update. Fantasy this, fantasy that. Scrolling scores, fantasy shows, podcasts, "experts".. (please.. I wrote for multiple sites over the last 15 years, I know my stuff, but at the end of the day, I was a guy with an opinion and a forum or two to spout off... opinion.. ) And you know how that cliche goes.. LOL Technology. This was fun!
  9. Completely understanding this is a forum, set up for banter to ensue, but the downright panic has always been kind of hilarious. It's way too early to hyperventilate. That said, such owners are a delight, as they tend to make the best (worst) deals. So to my to echo the comment of one of my patient brethren, "Buy Low" Relax. The season is merely a week old. Ah, my first of the year. Always a joy!

    Waiver priority 1 strategy

Before you vilify the guy, some leagues don't allow waiver wire transactions until after week one is complete. So his availability is really not all that shocking. Should he have been drafted? With the uncertainty surrounding Bell, absolutely. But generally by the Bell owner or the savvy owner looking to shaft the Bell owner. (God that is fun, ain't it?) That said, to answer the OP's question.. of course he warrants the selection. Of course, until Bell returns (and he will return) and Conner is relegated to handcuff status. Let's not kid ourselves and think this kid is Bell. He has shown that he's capable, but game-changing ability? Nah.

I always chuckle when I see post Week 1 panic.

All the jumpers are in Detroit.

Jordan Reed....looks like he may give it a go

Thoughts on Davis with him hurting or out? and I agree - he looks in obvious pain, and they need to act in his best interest. He should be on the IR..

    Ladarius Green Questionable for Sunday

I have Green and was scanning the wire sadly.. I see Hunter, Clay and with Jordan Reed hurting, Vernon Davis... might lean to the wily veteran... LOL Shame about Green - kid has talent, but a maddening inability to stay on the field.

    Cam Not Throwing At Practice.

He's got that extra day and it's prime time.. he'll play. Just my opinion of course. LOL

    Farrow or Powell

Wow, funny how the season guides us in crazy directions, no? Whooda thunk it? LOL
  16. Woble Eth

    Farrow or Powell

Boom. Couldn't agree more. Hillman couldn't see the field in Minnesota and there were obvious opportunities.. Also, Zimmer made some odd comments about him, about readiness, etc.. Why not see what Farrow brings to the table? The grab of Hillman almost seemed like a play to keep him away from Denver. LOL

    Benching Brady

Overthinking is the death of many a fantasy football team... But hey, maybe you'll buck the trend!
  18. Of course, any time you get a chance to grab a guy who could be a number one option moving forward, it's understandable, I get it. But what keeps sticking in the back of my mind, if he was this quality option, wouldn't you think they would have found a way to get him involved last week when Lacy was less than 100%, Starks was out, and they had to use a WR at the position? That gives me pause. I am pretty set at WR and was thinking grabbing him and losing Michael Floyd, but... Gotta strike soon, if he does anything of merit tonight... forget about it.

    What is Jay Ajayi's value?

His value for now is GREAT! Last week, it was meh.. the week before, meh-sorta, with the TD mixed in.. This week when he rattles off 6-22, he'll be back on the scrap heap.. then Foster will trip over a rogue leaf walking to the huddle at practice.. Twilight Zone, NFL.

    Worst commercial during football

Agreed, the fist pumping asshat, as his wife/girlfriend sits next to him contemplating leaving him for her King Dong . Makes the hobby and it's participants look like jackwagons.

    This.

    Cameron Meredith

In most cases, he shouldn't be a free agent. If the rest of your league has overlooked him for some bizarre reason of course he is worth an add.. That said, if you have waivers, you probably missed the bus.. He'll be gone. (unless you have a high selection or have FAAB $$$ to spend.

    Champions Check In Here!

After a few years of head-shaking bad luck, those fickle fantasy gods smiled on me this year. Leading 116 to 80.. I still have a WR tonight. Brady - a meh performance I was able to withstand. But he was the reason I was there in the end. D Williams - my last pick on draft day after drafting Bell 3rd overall. Gore - despite the skeptics this week, I loved the return to Miami - so did Frank! D Thomas - yet to play A Hurns - languished on my bench for 3/4 of the season, but was a must-start down the stretch and rewarded me BIG Gates - BLAH Flex - D Robinson - serviceable Gano - nice work Redskins - loved the match up, despite my Eagles loyalty. feels nice.
