Thoughts on the Main Board this offseason....

Fascinating thread, glad to see the bored has improved and is more enjoyable for all. It's been a year since I wanted to check in again but I can't resist the lure of the draft contest.

Marquise Hill missing in Lake Pontchartrain

He was a human being. That's how you sympathize with this, my friend.

The utter lack of humanity of apparently most of the people left on the bored is just appalling. I can't believe so many of you are so cynical, so smug and so completely alienated from real human life. Get out of your house and meet some real people again, or no one will remember you (or even notice) when you go, unlike Marquise Hill. The world has lost a good man, and he will be missed.

    Music Downloader

One reason why I like soulseek is you almost always get what you think you are getting. As opposed to limewire which is overrun with viruses and fakes files. It is harder to see the quality of what you are downloading with a torrent, but they still are more or less safe. It's a fine idea to run everything you download through a virus scanner before opening it.

    Music Downloader

Soulseek is great for music, esp. if you are looking for full albums and/or legal downloads. Granted the legal stuff is electronic artists you may have never heard of, but I like it fine. If you are looking for videos or whole discographies, bittorrent is the way to go.

    Bored and browsing?

Are you kidding??? Drafting from the 12 spot, that's a killer lineup. The novices are the yahoos who let Maroney slip to the 13th pick.

    Bobby Wade?

Considering their WR corps, the Vikings need to run plenty of the wishbone with an 8 man front. Now that would be cool.

You can't go wrong with such an incredible talent.

It's still obvious (well, to me at least) we lost the first Iraq war because we let Saddam stay in power. Beating the crap out of somebody doesn't necessarily equal winning. I'm not into "pointing fingers," just stating facts. Like the well known fact that Schwarzkopf was the one who wanted to drive straight into Baghdad, but he was ordered to stop his advance. Tell me, who could have possibly issued that order except the first President Bush? And if Bush1 really did want to "finish it," who could have possibly stopped him? I will totally agree with you that "fighting under the UN umbrella" was a prescription for failure. Did you support Bush1 despite the fact you just admitted he gave away our national sovereignty in this instance to the UN? (That is meant without sarcasm - I don't know you so well and am assuming I am speaking with someone who thinks for himself and not someone who places blind faith in the cult of neoconservatism.) It was Bush's choice to listen to the UN, and as the so-called "commander-in-chief" the war was his responsibility. Getting back on topic, this is one big reason why I like Ron Paul. I consider myself to be a patriot, and a rather extreme one at that, but my first allegiance is to the truth. We won't be able to advance as a nation if we insist on being selective with our facts. Ron Paul understands this and Rudy Giuliani obviously doesn't.

famousb's analysis is spot on. I am not too big on guessing actual numbers, but it's a safe bet that Dwayne Jarrett can come close to Keyshawn's numbers from last year. One thing I have learned as a Panthers' homer is that our TEs have next to no FF value as long as Coach Fox is in town, and I don't expect that to change with the new OC. The Williams-Foster RBBC mirrors Jacksonville's tandem in my view - they will both see a lot of action over the next couple years, with the young guy slowly but steadily growing into the workhorse role. Which means I think Williams will be somewhat undervalued in redraft scenarios this year. One situation to watch, as NAn notes, is if Delhomme gets yanked for Carr at any point. Now, you and me and all right thinking people find this concept laughable, and yet it's clear Carr was brought in to compete and Delhomme is on a short leash. Coach Fox is a loyal guy so Delhomme will probably get more slack than say, Jake Plummer, but still our Jake playing 16 games is by no means guaranteed. If you play IDP, Julius Peppers is someone I am targeting high. FFToolbox put it best, "This freak of nature has averaged over 10 sacks per game since coming into the league, yet Julius Peppers still shows signs of unexplored potential. If there's a defensive player in the league right now who's most capable of having a record-breaking season, it's Julius Peppers." I couldn't agree more.

Please, the condescension isn't necessary. I was glued to the TV just like you, but what I saw was a great plan drawn up by Gen. Schwarzkopf and executed perfectly by our troops that was ready to march into Baghdad and take out Saddam, and then.... It was like if we were playing chess, had taken most all the opponent's pieces, was one move away from checkmate, and we resigned. That Saddam was allowed to stay in power meant that the first Iraq war was merely a minor distraction to him. If you want to split hairs, absolutely our military wins wars and then Presidents throw away their victories.

If we had won the first war we wouldn't be mired in the second one now. The lesson of the first Iraq war is that our military knows what the hell they are doing and the alleged "commander-in-chief" politicians in charge, well, not so much.

You remind me of one of my favorite political bumperstickers, from 1988, seen mostly in Massachusetts. It depicted a man ROTL and next to that image it said, "Dukakais for what???"
