  1. I think Portis can be grouped with the top 3 this year... anyone of the 4 can hit 2000 yds...

LJ - lost lineman though --

    Alex - wont have 28 + TDs - but still a beast.

LT - may have 100 catches again with Rivers at QB

Portis - everything is in his favor - linemen, OC, offensive talent ...

    **homer glasses off**

Portis will be the #1 fantasy back when the dust settles on the 06 season

Ugh. I have the #4 pick in the geek league and I was seriously considering taking Portis over Tiki (.5 PPR). That is ofcourse until you came into the thread. It's like de ja vu all over again....

    :(

  2. Besides your QB's I like your team. The Yahoo leagues are always really easy to grab RB's in but they tend to take QB's earlier for some reason. I can see why you drafted getting the value you did but as a result you're really struggling at QB. I'd definitely drop Carr for either Brooks or Leftwich. You really don't need 2 TE's or DEF's either so you might as well drop one or the other for Benson. I doubt T. Jones will finish the season in Chicago and Benson if healthy will be the man. Might as well scoop him up so you can sell high in a few weeks to one of the teams who took QB's and WR's in 4 of the first 5 rounds (like a few yahoo teams always do!)

  3. I'd rather have Wayne then Plex too. The departure of Edge should open up more looks for Wayne. The offense is just generally better and in reality both are really 1B's (Shockey being 1A in NY). Plex is also a bit fragile making him more of an injury risk then Wayne.

    Do it

  4. RBs are going to kill you. i dont see the playoffs for you unless manning has a record year. u dont have 2 starting RBs on ur team, only one! thats gonna hurt u the whole season. hope for injuries. i would expect ur WRs to be a little better due to ur RB weakness, but i guess u went with gates instead. u need to hope chrissy brown goes down, or ahman green goes down.

got to agree. I don't like that team at all. 2nd RB is going to absolutely kill you. Gates is a total stud but since you drafted Manning first you really needed to get 2 RB's in 2 of the next 3 rounds in order to have a solid squad.

Here's a team I drafted from the 6th spot of a 10 team league (also taking Manning first). Knowing how the Yahoo noobs like to take QB, and WR's early I knew I could still take QB first and get two stud RB's. Then I grabbed a couple WR's and continued to stockpile RB's. A few weeks into the season I'll sell high on whichever backup is looking the best to a team like yours.

    QB

    P. Manning, M. Brunell

    S. Jackson, L. Jordan, J. Lewis, K. Jones, C. Taylor

    R. Wayne, D. Driver, D. Mason, Ro. Smith, D. Bennett

    C. Cooley

    Elam

DBC (going with Zona vs. SF week 1)

    I give you a 4/10

  5. I think you did pretty decent. SA and Ronnie are a very solid 1-2 punch. You got the Indy backfield covered for backup's. That situation will probably start as a RBBC but one should emerge over the other by the time your first bye comes (week 5). Holt is a stud and if DJax is able to get back to 100% you got a very nice combo of WR's. You're a bit weak at #3 and backup WR's though. Kennison wants more $$ and even if he stays in KC I don't expect much from him in Edwards run orientated offense. Bryant and Wilford aren't exactly guys I'd want as my #3 either... You QB situation is decent but not ideal. Bledsoe although with TO is still like 80 years old and inconsistent. Plummer will put up decent #'s but not top 10 QB material. Not sure why you drafted 3 TE's but I think Heap will end up the #1 TE this year. I'd probably drop 1 (atleast) of your TE's and grab another backup RB (maybe Cedric Houston, Lawrence Maroney, etc.)

    overall 8/10

  6. We will be doing the live draft (yahoo) Wed Aug 23 6:30pm PDT (9:30 eastern) so make sure you're around. I'll post the draft results here when we're finished if anyone wants to use for draft info

  7. Yah I'd definitely do that. Why keep a starting RB on a run first offense when you can get a super stud like Andre playing with an offensive line that doesn't even allow the QB to take a complete drop back before passing.

DO IT AND DON'T LOOK BACK

ps. If you want help on the help bored try giving some help first tool.

  8. Over all not bad. the only mistake I think you made was taking Boldin over Lewis in the 3rd. Doing so forced you to reach a bit for Taylor and take an unproven (so far injury prone) back in Benson in the 5th. If you would of taken Lewis in the third you could of came back and got Driver or Walker in the 4th and more then likely still got Taylor in the 5th. I'm not sold on C-Pep either but I don't think you got bad value for him. Obviously you only mocked 11 rounds so you didn't bother with a backup QB but if I was going to use a 6th on C-Pep I'd make sure I got someone not great but consisten as a #2 in the 8th or 9th round (Plummer, Green, etc). I also don't think you needed to use an 11th rounder on Seattle D. They're more of a last/second to last rounder and not one of the elite D's like Chicago and Carolina that you would use a 9th or 10th rounder on.

    8/10 overall

  9. originally form south louisiana, live in dc now....there is no comparison...i miss the crap out of a good plate lunch with rice and gravy, smothered anything and slice of white bread with some beans...

what else...a good fried shrimp poboy....###### there really isnt any good food up here that you can afford...man i could talk about all the food i miss for hours!!!

Yah I wish I could find a good poboy around here. We've got one restaurant that has a decent on and a decent gumbo but it's all fluffed up and gourmet style. I want just a plain old poboy with a nice bowl of gumbo over some dirty rice.

  10. I don't know about 'ruin', but I believe he will disappoint where he is getting drafted. We will both get fried by the Tiki lovers out there though.

Tiki is on the wrong side of 30, and carried the ball 354 times last year along with 50+ receptions. That's over 400 touches. Add into that the fact that he has never been a consistent visitor to the endzone in his career:

Check out these TD totals (combined Rus/Rec) over his career: 4,3,2,9,4,11,3,15,11. In 9 years he's had 5 seasons where he failed to score even 5 times. Yes, he's scored more than 10 times 3 out of the last 4, but he will lose goaline carries to Jacobs again this year, and you can't count on him having as many long TD runs again.

I'm not saying he will suddenly stink, and predicting injury is a losing proposition, but I just can't see myself taking him at 4 or 5 where a lot of people are. At that spot he needs to be the lynchpin of your team, and while he is one of the most consistent yardage monsters in the league, his erratic TD produciton + 31 years old + immense workload last season makes him a risky proposition as a top 5 pick IMHO.

Yah that's scaring me too. I've got the #4 pick in the Geek League and I keep going back and forth between Tiki and Portis. At first I was deadset on Tiki as it's a PPR league but now I'm hearing Portis is going to get more passes so I dunno.

Does anyone have the stats on how many of TIki's TD's last season were long yardage?

I personally think Steve Smith will dissapoint. WR's are too inconsistent to be taken in the firsy round. I don't think SMith will be a compelte bust but I wouldn't expect numbers like last year.

  11. They're like the San Antonio Spurs. The might make the playoff's but the commish prays daily that they don't, becuase of all the revenue he's going to loose from the low nielsen ratings. I'd rather watch paint dry than either of those boring ass teams.

    Lions and Pistons fan

  12. thanx ! All of these guys are still available in my league - 12 team redraft - points based.

we are near the end of the 5th round and i am lookking to grab one of these RB's in the 6th.

there is still some talent out there for sure

In that case I'd take Lewis, and as always let me be the first to point out you play with a bunch of retards.

ps. Take this to the little help board. This post is a help question masqueraded as a general topic. However most of us don't play with people who are in wheelchairs or hug complete strangers so this scenario would never happen.

  13. I just looked over the Chronicle and I don't see this quote from Shell you keep referring to. http://www.sfgate.com

In fact, I can't find any article with your outrageous and apparently fabricated claims.

Here's the only mention of Fargas in the Chronicle today. while close to what you claim was said, it seems like you were fairly liberal with inserting your own spin and attributing it to the Chronicle - likely why you didn't link to it. http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?...001&sc=1000

the bold section makes a reference to increasing Fargas' carries, and does so for the exact reasons that I and others mentioned. Where in the hell did you get "reducing Jordan's carries" or "Art Shell said" from? :D

What, are you drafting today with people here and are bent on misinforming them so Jordan slides to you?

I don't care if Vargas steals some of his carries. I'm seriously considering drafting him #4 ahead of Tiki and Portis in my PPR league. He showed last season he could be a work horse, He caught 70 passes compared to Tiki's 54 (equivalent of almost 3 TD's in FF points), and the Raiders play Cinci, St Louis, and KC in weeks 14-16 compared to Tiki Carolina, Philly, and then the laughable Nola. I'm sure I'll end up going back and forth over this as that Nola matchup in week 16 looks good but getting past Carolina in week 14 would be tough.

  14. which remaining RB has the most upside for the '06 season ? who would you target ?

    Droughns

    J.lewis

    Foster

    Addai

    Dayne

    C. Brown

    Benson

    m.anderson

    Rhodes

    Gore

    Taylor

    Gado

    D.Williams

    thanx

    Droughns - 3rd round

    J.lewis - 3rd round

    Foster - 4th round

    Addai - 4th-5th round

    Dayne

    C. Brown

Benson - 4th-5th round and climbing

    m.anderson

Rhodes - 4th-5th round and climbing

    Gore

    Taylor - 5th round

    Gado

    D.Williams

Of the rest I'd say either Chris Brown or D Williams has the most upside. Foster will inevitably get hurt at some point and D should be strong behind that line. Brown has looked good in camp and is said to of worked out really hard in the offseason. Travis henry is a crackhead and Lendale White is a fatty so as long as Brown stays healthy I see him getting 70%+ of the carries this season. I'd also add Barlow to your list. Word from camp and a few FF homers is he's looking real good so far this camp. The staff is also worried about offseason shoulder surgery performed on Gore and the fact that both his knee's are reconstructed.

  15. I'd move Tiki and Lamont ahead of Portis for #4 and 5 picks personally. The fact that Tiki and Jordan are going to realistically get you 60+ receptions compared to 30 tops for Portis is basically 5 more TD's. If you think Portis is going to score 5 more TD's then Lamont or Tiki then I'd leave them the same. I personally think he won't so I will be drafting both Lamont and Tiki ahead of Portis in any PPR league I'm in.
