Opened a bottle of Old Rip Van Winkle last October after my son’s rehearsal dinner for the wedding party. So disappointing. I enjoy bottles from the $50-70 price point so much better. It was a fun way to end the night & his friends loved the experience but the bourbon meh
Yea, Old is dissapointing, but Pappy 15, 20, or 25, now thats a different story

@Meglamaniac -- Amazing, as I recently got a bottle of this as well, and I kept meaning to tell you about it, but I never got around to it.
I'm on a list with Total Wine for rare bourbons -- every 6 months I get an email to rank the ones I'd buy if I get into the lottery, but it's like Master's tickets, I never get selected. But one day I got an email that they were going to be selling a handful of Buffalo Trace bourbons to us reserve members on a FCFS basis one Saturday. They listed Blantons, Col E H Taylor, and Eagle Rare. I got into the store and they also had some Weller Antique 107. I'm a big fan of wheated bourbons and Weller is the original, so they say. Also I like the higher proof.
There was a (cute chick, 32B) rep from Buffalo Trace there with the Total Wine folks, and her rec was the Weller. She said it's the hardest to get; she's never seen it at a Total Wine, only occasionally at boutique stores. FYI, she also said that to expect to see more Blantons in the months ahead as they have more of it coming.
Also as I type this, I'm guessing that whoever gifted it to you might have had a similar fortuitous experience I did with Total Wine.
Anyway, I've had a few pours and it's very good, I'm confident you'll like it.
It is nice, can't say it's harder to get than Weller 12 year but close, if you haven't had it try to get it
My nephew is in alcohol sales in GA and i have a nice little honey hole store there that I spend a lot everytime I visit Pop, they gifted it to me in April when i was up for pops BD as a thank you

I saw that. I looked it up due to your post. I drink brown liquor. someday I may drink some of this. I sometimes wonder about reserves, aged stuff, or other matters to make a good drink rare and therefore more valuable. I am not sure my paleatte is all that refined or sensitive to really tell a subtle difference. After more tahn 5 decadeds of smoking how discriminating can I truly be?
Who knows about you palette but you may be surprised. If you ever have questions about bourbon I'm here and have a wealth of knowledgr

Yeah, we know. Every time you guys are on the wrong side of history you proclaim that you were actually the Republicans "back then". Weird how there is ALWAYS a mass exodus of your party when you have to take responsibility.
GTFO, cult boy.
Dude, he's a history expert, you can't tell him chit about history, he knows everything, just ask him. i wouldn't be surprised if he was a time traveler and actually experienced these things first hand

Weller Antique 107. Gonna take it up to Pop's for Father's day weekend. Should go well with the Brisket, Spares and stuffed porkloin

Lol can I just say I absolutely love and I do mean love the fact that our board liberals have called us and everybody they don’t agree with Nazis for a decade at least. No actual factual information to back it up. They just like to label it because they know their idiot voters can even associate Nazi with the word bad therefore they think everything is bad on the right.
Then platner comes along with testimony from women that say, he knew exactly what the tattoo was. He actually has it on his chest and can be easily verified and look at the back bending they are all going to minimalize this guys warts.

Not sure what happened there, but the quote you attributed to me was Haucks.
Little kids swearing is entertaining. When my son was about 4 we had a meal with my FIL and his wife, who were VERY straight-laced Christians. We made every effort not to cuss in front of him, but you know how that goes.
My wife served the food and when it got put in front of him, he looked up and said "what the fuk is this?"
It was sooo hard scolding him without laughing my ass off.
I can't quote Hack, so I used your post to do it and call BS on his claim

So you just call other people out for doing the same thing you're doing then. Very true to the spirit of the GC. Do you have a Substack I can subscribe to? Might wanna level up my trolling game.
I call out hypocrites for the most part and typically only troll a troll. I am guilty from time to time at getting a little over sensitive to things and act not so 'nice' but I'm human.
I enjoy a good troll game, problem is so many here are terrible at it.
No need to level up, your troll game is pretty good

So I’m praising the free market, damning tariffs, and you call this LIBERAL back peddling???
You’re a Californian, right? I assume you’re a fan of the great Ronald Reagan? What the hell happened to you? What the hell has happened to conservatives? You guys are so obsessed with the woke stuff that you’re willing to turn your back on capitalism. It’s a stunning reversal.
