LOL. I don't do anything in drag other than in HS when I was a cheerleader during the powder puff football game. And yes, I had pants on. And yes, I very much accidentally alienated and insulted the gal that supplied the skirt by saying something like "thanks, I don't think the skirts from any of the other cheerleaders woulda fit me!"
Totally unrelated: I've got a VERY gay dude on my staff and he's spearheading a potluck based around the Met Gala. Several staff said they're going to dress in drag that day and I was asked if I would. HARD NO. Then I told the powder puff story and staff asked if there were pictures. If there are, I've never seen them. I'm so focking glad I grew up in a world before smart phones and social media.
I think pretty much every male that grew up in middle to small town USA in the 80s dressed as a Cheer Leader for Powder Puff games

I've read books to kids at the library; it's fun. Maybe they just enjoy seeing kids laugh and smile?
Did you do it in Drag? I mean, I'm a huge Jags fan and often dress in Jags attire when I go to games but it's not the attire I go, Hey, I'm volunteering today, got to put on my Jag swag

I mean, I put clothes on. Usually.
I will defend people that are unfairly targeted. That does not mean I can or want to get into their brains. I don't understand what goes on in the heads of LGBTQIA+, drag queens, MAGA, Christians, Jews, women, Muslims, doctors, lawyers, politicians, or myself. I try to consider other points of view. Sometimes I am not successful.
Fair, I just can't see any reason for a person who considers themselves a Drag Queen to dress up as such to read to kids without having an ulterior motive to do so

Respectfully, you have a distinct tendency to misinterpret what some posters here say, especially the ones you disagree with politically. This is borderline MO territory. NOBODY should go there.
Apologies and admissions of being wrong are unicorns in this place, and I've done both today in this thread. Point your ire elsewhere.
OK

I think ANYONE interested in being near kids raises flags- until they don't.
Why would someone that dresses in drag and loves kids (in an innocent way) be any more worrisome than a middle aged dude that looks like me? I look like a skinhead with a beard.
Are these people in Drag 24/7? Why the need to be in Drag when they do these voluntary readings? I don't dress up when I volunteer, do you?

JFC, you just can't help yourself can you, these are the types of statements that put you in RealTIm territory, please don't go there.

Care to share where you get the rest of your information then? If that's your only news source then how can you have such staunch opinions on news stories you don't know about?
I read, typically Yahoo news to start the day and lots of other sources, none of which would be considered right leaning. I truly don't understand why you think I can't have the opinions I have without being mislead by right wings news but it's honestly annoying. As was stated above, you're acting like your sources are the all knowing, none judgmental news providers, they are not. Again this assertion I that have to be lead or I'm just stupid or ignoring things is so off-putting it makes me not want to interact with you

I have, though that's not quite what happened. Would you happen to have a status update on how that investigation is going since Trump's DOJ should be all over it?
Fair. I don't try to be a jerk with most folks, so apologies for being off-putting. To be clear, I'm not in here claiming Trump voters are bad people or have illegitimate opinions. Once again, a lot of it has to do with news sources that are preferred on the right that simply are not acknowledging or covering what's going on.
So then the righties get mad and think lefties are lying about this stuff and quickly shut it down with a dismissive 'TDS!' without even considering the possibility that we're not all FOS.
The only news I watch is my local 11pm news so that has zero to do with my opinions so please stop using that excuse

I chose alleged because if you want proven corruption by Obama or Biden I’m guessing you won’t find any. I was actually making this more favorable for Trump supporters. But if you want it to just be fully verified? You’re gonna be even more embarrassed/
There is zero chance that you could ever embarrass me, you tried once with the homestead act of 1862and got curb stomped, I have no desire to do it again, you are not worth my time

That you believe they are opinions and not facts is exactly why we're having this conversation. MAGA and adjacent REFUSE to accept these realities. You ignore the evidence and links because saying MSDNC and TDS allows you to just wipe it away and not even look into the veracity of the claims.
They are not facts, they are opinions, sorry you can't see this or understand this. If there was proof of any of it Trump would not remain in office.
You have your opinions, I have mine, you continually telling me mine are wrong is off-putting so I'll walk away from this conversation as I otherwise enjoy most of our exchanges

Care to elaborate? I’m eager to put the receipts on the table for alleged corruption by this president and any other past president(s) you choose. Let’s do this.
We should probably start a new thread though. It’s gonna be multiple pages of stories on verified corruption and fraud by the current inhabitant of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave…
LOL
Again, your opinions are nt facts

It’s not about agreeing. It’s about basic facts.
This president is flouting multi-billion dollars of corruption constantly.
And you compares it some small and overblown “scandal” of a past president that is only an issue because right-wing media decided to run stories on it every single day.
We can disagree on all sorts of things, and still get along. But when you’re not acknowledging reality, how are we supposed to bridge that gap?
Sorry to disappoint but your opinions are not facts

You say that yet honestly believe that Obama and Biden's behavior excuses far worse behavior. If you're not ignoring, then you're either dumb or are severely lacking morals and ethics.
So basically if we don't agree with your claims we are dumb and/or immoral, that's rich

First off I want to offer my gratitude to @Engorgeous George for spending so much time responding to my posts. He is a thoughtful guy, he does have personal experience in these areas (I do not) and his responses are generally informative.
That said, ultimately his arguments are still exactly what I said they were: uninformed bullsh!t. Why? Because he still refuses to accept the fact that things are different under Trump. He accuses me of not being aware of the problems of private prisons prior to Trump. That’s ridiculous; of course I was aware. I’ve discussed these issues at length in political forums, I’ve read several books on the subject. One of them, The New Jim Crow by Michelle Alexander, spends a good deal of time offering specific examples of the mistreatment of minorities in these prisons (and incidentally takes issue with many of EG’s assurances) and that was published in 2010.
But there is a crucial difference here: in the past years the mistreatment in private prisons was a result of a combination of greed, laziness, stupidity and the remnants of a history of racism. Very little of it was deliberate. Here it is almost ALL deliberate: abuse directed from our federal government under Donald Trump designed to punish undocumented immigrants so as to scare those who are still here to self-deport and scare those who are not here from coming. @RaiderHaters Revenge of all people is the only person here on the “MAGA” side to honestly admit this but I suspect most of you know it and approve of it. @Engorgeous George however does not; as a lawyer and, I will presume, an ethical person, he would never accept a deliberate attempt to mistreat prisoners in order to scare others. He cannot accept this because it would destroy his whole world view that conservatism is still the same as it was before Trump emerged. He reminds me of the Burt Lancaster character from Judgment at Nuremberg.
No need to read this crap, all it says is Orange Man Bad

I’m sick of idiots who live in their own fantasy world rejecting whatever news they choose not to see. In the case of Delaney prison the truth is all over CNN, Washington Post, New York Times, etc. it’s probably not on Fox News. I’m not going to waste my time showing you guys. Do it yourself.
LOL
So willfully unaware, but yea everyone else is living is a fantasy world

When a football fan complains about how crappy their team is, nobody calls them a traitor to their team. They just want the team to get better.
No, we call them idiots as well, especially when the team is not crappy but a select few 'fans' still skyscream about things.
I have a feeling those same people are the ones that complain here on a daily basis about fake outrage and fake crisis.

None of you will acknowledge the fact that these protests began because of the incredible abuse of these prisoners in this prison, a private prison which the Trump family is invested in which is making billions of dollars in profit while starving the prisoners their, putting maggots in the food they do manage to give, preventing basic medical care, beating up prisoners, etc.
Neither are you paying attention to the fact that the ICE agents are attacking and abusing peaceful protestors.
Instead your sole concern seems to be the tiny minority of protestors who have either used violence against the authorities or threatened to do so. To you guys these represent ALL of the protestors- that is idiocy that @Engorgeous George is pushing, along with so many others. Shameful and outrageous.
Oh the outrage about things you make up

We did have some 'healthy' country girls on the squad but for the most part as you describe. I actually used a Flag Football belt and attached skirt material to it so no cheerleader skirts were harmed in the making of my costume
