Over the last 3 games he is throwing nearly 40 times a game with an average of about 55% completion percentage. Today he just tossed one up because of a defensive offside and Tyreek Hill amazingly pulled in a bad pass for a TD. Smart play to throw it up but it was all Hill who made that play.

He is 1-2 in his last 3.

And he is now on pace for 5600/37, That pace would end up with a FF score that would have had him ranked: 7th in 2018, 2nd 2017, 6th 2016.

Stats about what I previously cited  and think what I previously cited still applies:

     (1) his injury is limiting him and (2) Just a regression after a historic season.

I'll add that I'm talking Mahomes the FF QB, not the NFL QB, but if we were...

Those past 3 games here are passes v called running plays (so excluding Mahomes scrambles)

    42/19

    35/10

    39/13

It's not that they weren't in those games throughout and  had to just throw it  either (actually ironically the 42/19 v Detroit was the most lopsided game)

As good as the kid is he can't do it himself and not using your running game can't help him either.

I don't own Mahomes or even like the Chiefs, just talking the numbers and he's still performing well, just not as well as last year.

Now if anyone was expecting last season all over again, well that's the issue there.

What a disappointment. I can't believe he isn't scoring 45 each week. I have been hearing people cry about Johnson all year. Johnson has one low score and then 4 really good games. This offense isn't scoring at all, and he is hovering around 20 each game. Please trade me your David Johnson so I can get burned with his meager near 20 ppg

And even in NON PPR he's currently 12th in my standard scoring league, a point out of 9th. 4th in targets, 6th in recs, 14th in touches among RBs.. I own him and I am stoked right now, no.  But I'm not calling him a bust trying to dump him either.

Last year he finished 10th in a 'down' year.  I went into my auction with him as possible toarget him as expected owners to be down on him from previous year I may be able to get him for a decent price. Which I did price wise for what would amount to like a 10-12 pick in a snake draft.

He's about there now,  even with the OL play and offense not clicking, which I think will improve as season goes on as will he.  Now if you picked him as top 5-7 guy or equivalent in an auction, I can get the frustration, but I did not have those expectations going in.

  4. To answer the topic question, think CM is definitely deserving of MVP consideration.

As others have said though, what would work against him is the QB-centric league that is today's NFL.

A QB has won the league MVP title  12 of 13 seasons (including Rodgers twice, Peyton x3, Brady x3).

    https://www.pro-football-reference.com/awards/ap-nfl-mvp-award.htm

The one year it wasn't was Adrian Peterson's nearly 2100 rushing yds (on way to 2300 totyds/13tds) in '12.

Before that 13 year run had to go back to Tomlinson in '06 (2300totyds/31tds), Alexander in '05 (1900totyds/28tds)

CM on pace for 2700totyds/99recs/19tds, I'd say that's comparable to what those other RBs did.

He'd have my vote, but think right now it's Wilson leading the race slightly b/c of the love for QB in the league.

35tds and 5800 yards, in your opinion does that make him worthy of a round one ff pick?

Technically I'd say yes, but not the best person to ask as I'm camp that would likely never (I haven't since my very first year in FF) take a QB in rnd1.

  6. He’s on pace for 35tds/5800yds even w/his 1 TD past 2 games.  That’s a very good FF season.
Now doesn’t sound like it coming off a 50td season but hopefully no one was expecting that from him again. Only done 3 times totaI in history of NFL (Peyton, Brady other two).

I don’t think teams are so much catching up as (1) his injury is limiting him and (2) Just a regression after a historic season.

Agreed.  I wouldn't trade him, that's for certain.  I did dump Priest Holmes back in the day though and got quite a haul for him before his wheels fell off.  I traded him the year they drafted Larry Johnson and Johnson was looking like a total bust.  Complete luck that a couple years later Johnson was the fantasy back to own and Priest was out of the league.

Holmes was a monster but LJ filled those shoes eventually, see my posts on his carries on '06.

All of the examples above are from a different time in the NFL. I truly believe what we’re seeing from CMC is unprecedented. He’s getting all of his touches in a spread out west coast style offense. The bruisers from back in the day were lining up an the extinct I-formation and getting pounded week in and week out.

Obviously only time will tell but I can’t fathom the idea of selling him in dynasty because of decade old information.

    Def  a different time/game...

Many of the RBs cited did have recs of 40-60, including a couple with comparable recs to what CM has done recent years Stephen Jackson (90, '06), Ladaininan Tomlinson (100, '03).

But there carries aside from that were much more than today.  These days 325-350 touches is what you want.

Many from the lists had 300-350+ carries, then added recs of 40+ on top of that: Rick Williams (392carries/50 res, '03), Larry Johnson (416carries/41recs, '06)

    That's just unheard of today.

Nice work.  It's pretty much just what this guy was saying.  I just hope they pay him before they run him into the ground.  The guy on the radio broke it down into total touches over a career as well.  I don't recall the number, but once it was hit, there hasn't been a RB have success afterwards.  It was the number of touches in college and the NFL combined.  I want to say it was 2,400, but I could be totally wrong.  Basically, he was pointing out what you did, that once the number has been hit, the damage done to the body is so tremendous it won't allow a person to do it again.

Yeah, for CM I think it'll be more a regression of touches than missing time as he's still relatively young, but it's still something to def at least take into consideration.  WTS I think dynasty wise still have to consider holding at least for next year or so.

Tarik Cohen who's avg'ed 4.3 and 4.6 yards per carry in his past 2 seasons is averging 2.2!!!!!

    2.2 YPC

And Montgomery 3.3, Davis 2.4 on the season.  As Skinny and Frozen have cited...sounds like a product of the play calling/system?  OL? other?

That's too bad, I was eyeing Montgomery as a buy low a couple weeks back, now likely just stay away.

  11. 4 hours ago, oldtimer said:

He listed all the players with over 400 touches in a year, followed by their next season, then the rest of their career.  Shaun Alexander never was the same after his monster season.  The list was the who's who of former fantasy Champions.  The gist of it was that no RB in history has ever had a long future, or another top 3 finish in the NFL, after so many carries.

I wrote a series of articles here at FFToday that speaks to this heavy workload v future production for RBs and yes, the data is not good.

    https://www.fftoday.com/articles/special/rb_heavy.htm

    https://fftoday.com/articles//nicolas/06_rb_heavy.htm

    https://www.fftoday.com/articles/nicolas/07_rb_heavy.htm

    Notes/Caveats:

The info is (yikes) over a decade old so take it for what it is

The workload cited didn't happen very often a decade+ ago, happens even less frequently in today's NFL where there are much more RBBC and less Bellcow RBs

It does speak to some of the missed games/injury after a large workload, but also cites that it's often just regression of touches:

It’s rare to have a 370-f/carry season and even more rare for a RB to repeat the feat. Most of the time there is nowhere for an RB to go but down after a 370-f/carry season. It’s not that these RBs always come back with bad years—but they too often fail to live up to expectation

  12. I picked up Lambo after missing out on Slye/Gould in FAAB wiaivers, they play Car and think should be able to move ball and get him some opportunities but next few games for Pats they could be getting up big early and then kick lots of FGs late in game, go with Nugent instead?

Any stats/history on how these kickers do right out the gate after being signed from not pllaying?

    Help me out folks.🙄

Why do many of you say that NO (and to some degree Carolina) have good schedules coming up? They both have Tampa Bay and as much as we make fun of TB......their offense is clicking now.

It appears to me that Dallas has the best schedule for the next 3 weeks......or am I missing something altogether here??

Bucs offense is coming around, but Jameis still threw a pick 6 last game and think  Rams had a game where they just were looking past the 'lowly' Bucs, esp w/Thu night matchup this week v Hawks.

Saints D were already good and seem to be tightening things up even more with Brees out.  Bucs will get theirs, but Saints will get at them too.

And with Cowboys it's Pack/Jets/Eagles...I get the Jets but you think the other 2 are good plays for Dallas?

WTS, I understand concerns with Saints v Bucs so def recomment Eagles or Titans if they're available this week.

Kirk's absence would primarily boost Larry Fitzgerald...

and DJ I'm thinking for more rushing overall (Cincy 24th overall d, 27th v run) and more passes out of backfield.

  15. Offense struggles or no the issue with Gost has been the missed extra points 4 of 15. I remember a blurb that he hadn't miss 4 over several years then does it over 3 games.

Oherwise he'd still be a top5-7 kicker right now.

WTS, worth it yes to see who they bring in but eh, they're kickers... lots of other options out there including Slye, Gay, Lambo off top of my head.

Godwin cheaper? I remember their ADPs being more or less the same. Either way, bottom line yes Godwin has scored a bunch of points that is not in dispute. But the boom or bust nature of his performances make it difficult to correlate when he’ll blow up. Unless you’re confidently starting him every week, teams with multiple options at WR might not feel so confident every week. Case and point my opponent benched him this week in favor of Alshon Jeffrey and Marvin Jones. It’s easy to call him a donkey now in hindsight but I know he can’t be the only one who benched him, or at the very least contemplated it.

ADP per FF calculator was Godwin 6.06, Lockett 4.05

Though FFT had it at 4.06 and 4.07 respectively and Godwin was climbing towards end so could be.

I personally I got Godwin for like 8-10 cheaper than Lockett went for in my auction league.

And yes he was benched by a few ppl I'm sure.  Would argue more to do with questionable status than confidence in him, others may argue that owners not thinking of him as a 'must start' to date.

Either way doesn't change fact that he had stat line of 14tgts/12recs/172yds/2tds

  17. All WRs are dependent on volume (any position for that matter), all WRs have good and bad games.

    Lockett just came off 4recs/51yds

    Target share, Godwin 8.3% (10th) , Lockett 8.0% (12th)

    https://www.fantasypros.com/nfl/reports/targets/wr.php

    Catch percentage, Godwin 76.47% (19th), Lockett 81,25% (7th)

    https://nextgenstats.nfl.com/stats/receiving#catch-percentage

They're both top 10 in targets Godwin 34, Locket 32

    https://nextgenstats.nfl.com/stats/receiving#targets

and top 6 in recs (both 26)

    https://nextgenstats.nfl.com/stats/receiving#receptions

    Godwin 386yds.4tds, 62.6 ff pts (2nd), Lockett 328yds/2tds, 44.8 ff pts (12th)

    https://fftoday.com/stats/playerstats.php?Season=2019&GameWeek=&PosID=30&LeagueID=

Godwin right there w/Lockett in most key stats, they'll likely both finish at least top 15, maybe top 5-10, but Godwin typically cheaper in auction and snake drafts.

Does he even have a role when he returns? Darrel Williams has been solid in the short yardage work and catching the ball out of the backfield. This injury could not have come at a worse time for Damien Williams.

    And...

Reid had Darrell in last few drives w/game very much on the line.

And that was after he fumbled.

Shows some trust in the kid.

And w/what looks like a definite effort to have Mccoy share load to keep him around for long haul, whoever is the #2 will get some run.

I'd say Darrell has inside track for that role right now.

  19. few websites posting including ESPN/CBS:

    https://www.espn.com/nfl/player/_/id/17359/damien-williams

    https://www.cbssports.com/fantasy/football/players/2130689/damien-williams/

    https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2019/09/27/damien-williams-to-miss-another-game-for-chiefs/

So McCoy show all alone (then must start?) or could we see him share carries making Darrell Williams a possible flex play (and downgrading McCoy a bit)?
