    My onions are re-growing

I planted some onions in the spring, they grew quite a bit and the seemingly died. However, in the cooler weather, they have started to re-grow. Anyone else?

    My onions are re-growing

The onions have been harvested and are curing. I was hoping they'd be ready by Thanksgiving, but I think I'll wait a bit.
  3. It gave a nice little fight. Used a 4 wt. Allen with my grandfather's Horrock-Ibbotsen reel, which I recently restored. What a beautiful little fish.
  4. My winter plan is to shoot for days where the temperature gets above 45, subject to work. I have been very comfortable fishing mornings at that temperature, and that is just warm enough to prevent freezing line/eyelets. We typically get a few days per month in Dec/Jan/Feb that reach that temp. If I get 3-5 days on the water this winter, I will be delighted.
  5. I fished the beautiful Ken Lockwood Gorge on Friday and came away empty. I missed one native brown and couldn't get him to go after my fly after his first run at it. It'll be getting a little too cold for me to fish soon so I'm hoping for a nice day in the upcoming weeks to get a last hurrah.

    **2020 Masters Thread**

Rough thickness is rarely a big issue at the Masters. It will be interesting if that changes in the fanless atmosphere, but I doubt it will.

    Turkey day work arounds

I roast turkey thighs a day or two early to make my gravy. I usually set aside an extra thigh, roast it, and eat it on Wednesday night. It is one of my favorite parts of the Thanksgiving eating experience. It is the best part of the turkey.

    Turkey day work arounds

With the exception of my brother-in-law, everyone who attends our Thanksgiving lives with 45 minutes of us. I am considering delivering full Thanksgiving meals to anyone who is not comfortable attending our house.

A Great Day For The Irish!!

The students are finished on 11/20. All students are being tested between now and 11/20. Students who do not show up for their assigned test time are not permitted to register for next semester. If they test positive, they will be quarantined for 2 weeks at the University's cost before being released home. In other words, they will be stuck in South Bend through Thanksgiving. The semester ends on 11/20, so they will literally be doing nothing other than sitting for 2 weeks and waiting for 2 negative tests to be released. My son gets tested next Thursday with results on Friday, and is scheduled to come home on Saturday. He was up in the broadcast booth, so he did not take part in the on-field celebration. He claims that he did not attend any of the massive off-campus parties post-game. He's been in quarantine once this semester for 3 days after he was contact traced, but did not develop COVID. We are hoping that he clears his result and is able to come home on time.

I just tried liking your quote to see if that worked any magic in Mike's algorhythm. Apparently not.

    My onions are re-growing

I planted some garlic last week. It is already growing. I figure that I will get some garlic scapes in the spring and then some home grown garlic. It's a thrill every day.
  23. Walleye may be the best freshwater fish out there. I guess the population isn't high enough for it to be widely distributed, but it is a tasty fish. Not a big fan of the others on your list, except maybe perch, but most perch filets I've eaten are about the size of a Dorito.
  24. I would never order trout in a restaurant given other fish on the menu. I find them to be quite "fishy". The best way that I've ever eaten trout was breaded and pan-fried on an open fire on the river bank just off the stringer. But that was 40 years ago in Canada. I think I'll just continue to release my little friends when I catch them.
  25. I haven't fished a lot with the 6-wt., but the Allen 4-wt is really nice. I will likely do most of my fishing with it over the next 20 years, God willing. I'll use the 6-wt if I'm going to hit bigger water. If any of my friends want to try the fly, I'll loan them the shorter 5-wt since it easier to control and cast.
