And how about winters? Same battery performance?

Or what happens if you break down or your battery dies because you focked up or got stuck in stupid heavy traffic? Simple AAA call and they bring out a charger?

Like i said earlier.  My hybrid gets 50 or so mpg in the warm months and 35 or so in winter. Thats a huge drop and thats a hybrid.  Gotta think a full ev would be worse

Exactly - what you said earlier is that you didn't because it could come back and bite you in the ass.  But, if you didn't have those consequences you would.  I think that is exactly Pelley's position - in fact he may be better off having done it (as someone else suggested, he's probably got a lot of support from others who were fired and couldn't afford to take such action).  I think we agree.

PART of the reason is it could bite you in the ass.  The other part is being professional.  You aren't.  I get it.  I am.  And each is allowed his own approach to things

To be fair, I'm not sure that @Showboat has ever actually done it. I haven't. I just wish I could have because those owners were awful racists, crooks and fraudsters, though they did give me a lot of autonomy and I mostly liked working there. Now that I'm older and in a more professional environment, I would never even consider something like that. If I had issues with my boss there would be a closed door meeting with him, and then potentially another with his boss.

Oh well that's a different thing entirely.  Have I WISHED I told my boss off?   Told him how horrible he was/is etc.  Absolutely.  That's not even close to the same thing.  I wish I focked your Mom.  But I haven't.   Big difference fella

IMO Hybrid is the sweet compromise in the "EV wars."  Really give the best of both worlds but with improved gas mileage.   This comment coming from an outsider who only owns gas guzzling vehicles :).

I said from the beginning I felt hybrids were the right first step toward less ICE.  Not plug in either.  Seemed to be a logical step

I just traded in my lesbo Subaru Outback Wilderness for a Tesla Model Y. Same size vehicle, 0-60 in 4.2 seconds and it drives itself with my “supervision “ .  Mind blowing tech

I have a Honda Accord hybrid.  I didn't buy it cause of the mileage.  It got better HP and a larger infotainment screen compared to the ICE model.  It definitely does not suck that it gets over 50 MPG in the summer(35 in the winter)

Congrats for being fortunate enough to not have worked for any really shitty employers, I guess.

You're right that it's unprofessional, but how professional is it to install an unqualified idiot to run an already successful operation due to nepotism?

Nevermind, forgot I was talking to a Republican. I just described Trump's entire political philosophy.

See....You don't know anything.  I worked for a place for 5 years.  Went very well.  Liked it there.  Then, they hired a new GM.  This guy was an awful person. didn't know the industry, was devious, and lied ALL THE TIME.   Well, I decided I could not work for that guy.  And unlike what is seems you guys like to do,  I didn't undercut him, NEVER called him out in front of others or the bosses, customers etc.   I just decided to look for another job.   And when I found one, I left.   That's how it's done professionally.  What you guys do I cannot support.  But hey, difference of opinion.   If that's your way of dealing with things, god speed man.

If I'd had a job lined up I would have. But 20 years ago when this happened, I was not financially secure enough to take the risk. No doubt Pelley isn't constrained by financial considerations, which tends to allow people to speak more openly.

You're being Hauck-like on this topic.

Yeah well even with a new job lined up, I wouldn't do that.  It's unprofessional.   Ive happily given 2 weeks notice before, but would never sh*t on an employer.  You never know when that might come back and bite you in the ass.

There is no "should".  Pelley is a public figure.  There was no way he leaves CBS quietly and anonymously and how he chooses to leave makes no difference to me.  Seriously, you need to consider context.

I was trying to leave politics out of this but clearly you think Pelley was wrong to do what he did because of his politics.  If a MAGA-leaning reporter told off their new liberal/woke management on their way out the door, I'm sure you'd be fine with it.

LOL  I never ever brought politics into this.  I don't care what anyone's politics are, you don't do that if you are even a tiny bit professional.  MAGA, Liberal, makes no difference to me.  it's unprofessional.  I get that you would not have acted that way, and that's fine.  Your call.

I was in a similar situation once. I was a manager at a company, hitting all my benchmarks and turning good profits while keeping clients happy. The owners hired someone to replace me out of the blue because the guy was the same religion (Jehovah's) as the owners. Dude was in so far over his head it was insane, had no experience in the industry, but had lost his job and was close to the owners.

I didn't make a stink, but I quit with no notice after quickly finding another job. They sold the company shortly after because the new manager focked up operations so badly.

So yeah, when nepotism focks up your world, it should absolutely be labeled as such.

According to Showboat...you should have called him out in front of your co workers.  That's how he sees how things should be.

  10. 6 minutes ago, Showboat said:

Scott Pelley will be happy to learn that if he becomes your boss, you'll be a good soldier make-no-waves yes man.

As it should be.  Clearly you don't understand this but what I would do(and have done) is deal with a terrible boss while looking for another position.  Been there done that.  You don't do what Pelley did.  Least not in my industry.  People talk.  If you think its perfectly fine to do that in front of other co workers fine.   Shows a true and complete lack of character and decency, but hey, you do you.

  11. 36 minutes ago, Showboat said:

You can disagree, but don't be ridiculous.  Telling off your idiot boss is not comparable to committing a crime.

You made the non sensical point that telling off your boss is fine, if you are willing to take the consequences.  Duh. So i was giving you a similar non sensical argument is all.

  12. 1 hour ago, Showboat said:

Think of it this way.  What if Pelley was suddenly put in place as your boss.  I’d guess he has zero qualifications to be your boss and would take your business in a direction you don’t agree with.  In that case, you are fully justified in telling him off however you want so long as you are willing to accept the consequences.

Sure.  What you are saying makes no sense at all but sure.  You are fully justified in killing someone too, as long as you are willing to accept the consequences.  So yeah.  Pelley was fired for his actions, which was 100% justified.

Putting aside the political stuff, I'm assuming that Pelley thought his new boss was inexperienced, incompetent and in over his head.  In such a case, Pelley's actions are likely justified - not a good idea if he was living pay-check-to-pay-check, but probably not the case with Pelley.  I'm sure he expected the result and will land on his feet.

In front of the staff?  Not justified one bit

  14. Look--whether you thing 60 minutes is bowing to Trump, or whether you think 60 minutes is a another liberal mouthpiece.  What it absolutely does show is people like Scott Pelley really think they have an influence these days.  They don't.  Traditional media is dying--and 60 minutes' audience is literally dying.

In my opinion......I don't care one bit about who is reading the story. Scott Pelly, Joe Schmo.  Don't care.  And guys like Pelley really believe people care what they read.

These TV media folks really believe they are important.

Reminds me of Matt Lauer.  Why they would pay him $20 mil a year never made sense to me.  Get any handsome guy or pretty girl to do this stiff for 1/40th of what they pay these people.

    See you Scott.

Really?  "God is bianary" is delusional crazy thinking.  I think a guy's metal capacity trumps any policy issue.   But makes sense you'd like it.

Actually....I am willing to bet God is non-binary.   I don't think God has a sex...That would be dumb.

edited to add.   there is no God...BUT if there was, yeah wouldn't have a sex.

She didn't reveal he had a stroke, just that during the debate, she thought that he might be having one.

Yes.  It was her revelation that she thought he was having a stroke.  Obviously if she said he DID have a stroke, she should have been charged with elder abuse for not taking him to the for hospital it

MAGA is very confused to see a First Lady who has actual feelings for her husband.

You sir have zero credibility if you question MAGA believing things they are told and coming here and actually defending Jill's idiotic stroke revelation.   You're just as bad as those you mock, you're just on the other side
