No women? Don't necessarily have to put them on front lines. Maybe just the dykes. Interestingly, before Hitler invaded Russia they badly miscalculated their potential army size... mainly because never considered women. Nearly a million ended up fighting.

Couple days ago three Israeli hostages were accidentally killed by Israeli soldiers. Apparently they were carrying a white (surrender) cloth on a stick when they were shot. Makes me wonder if some soldiers are just shooting everything that moves. How much of a threat could they have appeared to be? I doubt they were rushing at the soldiers. Sad. I will give props to Israel for admitting it. They could've easily blamed Hamas. Hopefully it was just a trigger-happy young soldier and not indicative of the whole army.

Malaysian Flight 370 : Interesting Speculative Analysis
GobbleDog replied to RLLD's topic in The Geek Club
Weird turns. Perfect flight path to avoid detection. Transponder manually turned off. I didn't know there any other theories than pilot suicide. -
Based on what?

I didn't know offsides warnings was even a thing. "Penalty - Offsides" ... "But you didn't warn us first.?."

Great Dak showed up. Hat's off... accurate as hell tonight. I'm impressed.
-
Eagles and points. I bad mouthed Dak all off-season... I was proven right early in the season, but lately he's been proving me wrong. Which Dak shows up? Against Eagles D.... I'm betting ugly Dak.

I hope this is the last year of the Push Tush and...
GobbleDog replied to Law's topic in FFToday Board
Agreed. Hate to see it happen to Hurts, he's a good guy and fun to watch... but clearly the most likely to get a career ender. It was always illegal to push a teammate forward and it remains illegal to pull a teammate forward, but in 2005 the NFL changed the push rule. The logic? Reportedly the NFL said it was too difficult to legislate the push rule - refs were rarely sure who was pushing who. Makes sense. Perhaps they could change the rule to allow incidental pushing, and ban blatant (rugby style) pushing. -

I thought Dinero was one trick pony until I saw that. Didn't know he had that talent.

Golf balls to travel shorter distance by 2030
GobbleDog replied to jerryskids's topic in The Geek Club
I golf once year - tomorrow is that day. Lots of questions to be answered. Will I beat my all time record? 120 Will I hit houses and then pretend it wasn't me? Can I get the beer cart slut to show me which color panties she's wearing? All will be revealed tomorrow. -
I hate the Niners as much as anyone, but how can ya not root for "Mr. Irrelevant" ? If he wins a SuperBowl, there'll be a movie after he retires. From a football standpoint, he couldn't have landed on a better team. Good coach, great D and incredible offensive talent.

I'll give ya Iraq War - a monumental mistake (admittedly I once supported it). Other than that.... Clinton, Obama, Trump, Biden. Not much "war." More like stick-head-in-sand policies.
-
I'm Republican and want them to keep fighting. Don't care about Biden's face and not yet convinced it's unwinnable. The US should be a beacon of democracy and international law. Reagan would agree. Since him the US has traded long-term security for short-term peace, becoming increasingly isolationist. Bad strategy.

House in Arlington, Virginia explodes after police reportedly approached it with a search warrant
GobbleDog replied to Cdub100's topic in The Geek Club
Virginia... police (not FBI) .... fireball... Unlikely gangsta homies, nor Latino tacos. Alah Akbar doesn't even fit. Put me down for Breaking Bad wanna be's. -
FSU beat weak competition and didn't look good doing it. So they didn't "earn" it. If they'd beaten most teams by 25+... ok. They'd be in with nothing to complain about. I do sorta agree with ya about the starting QB is hurt, therefore the backup can't possibly be as good. That's an assumption... (a reasonable one, but still a guess). Don't think I'd downgrade them based solely on that.

"Pick the best four" - the committee did that. As it should be. What's the alternative? Pick a team that stinks just for Cinderella chances? I'd rather see the best fight it out.

Luckily for Ukraine much of Europe won't give up so easily, since they now see Russia as a huge threat and they're already invested. Those European allies will also pressure the US to help. Let's just see what happens after F-16's are flying next spring. I don't know if it's a game changer or not, I've read conflicting articles. It can't hurt, along with another winter of poorly supplied Russian soldiers with low moral. Plus another 6 months of Russia holding their economy together with band-aids.
-
The committee is told to take "the four best." That's all. Vegas would completely agree with the committee. I didn't look at what the futures bets to win the Title were, but I guarantee Florida State was not in the top 5. Probably more like 8th best after Texas.

Patriots become 1st team in 30 years to lose back to back games allowing 10 pts or less
GobbleDog replied to edjr's topic in The Geek Club
Chargers 6 Patriots 0 History made! THREE straight games with 10 or less, and lost 'em all. Only 1938 Chicago Cardinals have done it four straight. "hold my beer" - Belichick Let's do this!!! -
That was actually a good photo. The one I saw ... botox gone wrong kinda look. Whatever, it's another terrorist act by Russia. Last I heard she's still alive.

"If there was live coverage of how horrible war really was, there'd be no war. Nobody would support them." Sounds like it should be true and it did effect Vietnam support. But that was grainy 60's film. Welcome to 2023. Anyone else follow Ukraine War Vid Report on reddit? https://www.reddit.com/r/UkraineWarVideoReport/ Mother of pearl. Some of the most grotesque scenes imaginable captured with iPhones, GoPros, and drones. It's all there... Russians barely alive moments after both legs blown off. Cluster bombs killing 50+ men. Drones dropping grenades on soldiers and then show them writhing in pain or in death throws. Drones chasing down terrified soldiers with bombs. Russians committing suicide shortly after getting hit, captured up close - in high resolution. Etc. There are some cool tank battles and stuff, but still a lot of death. Apparently the "live coverage of war would end wars" myth is officially busted.

I'm no international legal expert. The bombings and deaths sound awful, of course. War's ugly. Regardless if any "hostilities" during his era of influence were justified or not, I don't understand why Kissinger gets all the blame. He wasn't President.?. At least, he deserves a little credit for a peaceful end to the cold war.
