e-factor: Props for Divisional Playoffs are up!

Recommended Posts

Preliminaries are in. Nothing too crazy. One total completely threw me off and I thought I was seeing things. I immediately threw a decent amount on it and the only thing keeping me from making an even larger bet is my fear of the weather:

Hines Ward (Steelers) Total Receiving Yards - Must Play

01/15/05 400 Receiving Yards OFF OFF Over 58 (-115)

16:30 ET Receiving Yards OFF OFF Under 58 (-115)

Alright, put a C on it, so lets go Hines......................

Another one that jumped out at me was Michael Bennett over 57 rushing and receiving at -115. With Mo out, that looks almost too good to be true, which means it probably is. Even if he splits with Smith, he should cover that if he gets 10-12 touches. Let me know your opinion..............

Also put a small bet on Pitts-NY that the winning team will win by exactly 3 (+400). I just think the game will be close, so that's my longshot this week.........

Plus, bet the money line on the Colts for a couple hundred. I know it's usually suicide to bet against the Pats, but I just think this is the year Manning gets it done. No Ty Law was the deciding factor for me.................

Thanks for the heads up.....................

Love the Bennett one! Threw down on that as well. I see Hines is already up to 58.5 so I hope you got in before the raise.

Loving Eagles-Vikings longest FG Over 43. Akers should be attempting at least one in the mid 40s. Chime in when you can.

Yeah, I got in at 58. As far as the field goal over 43, it would have to be Akers since I don't think Anderson can kick it that far outdoors, but good luck anyways..........

What's your take on the Pats-Colts and Eagles-Vikings?

:( Yeah, I'm waiting on that one but I think a 45-yarder will happen in that one.

As far as the games, I just don't see how the Patriots can lose. Maybe it's because I live in NE and I see these f'ers come back at every opportunity and win games they should rightfully lose, or overcome obstacles like losing their entire secondary. Something snaps inside of Manning and Edge that throws them off their game. Weather won't be as much of a factor as last year, but I expect Manning to have a few red zone turnovers and this could come down to the wire like it did in Week 1. Would love to bet on Indy, but it's a double whammy for me if they lose.

As far as the Vikes game, I really liked Minnesota at +10. Planned on buying a half point and taking them at +10.5 but the world seems to be on the Vikes and even +9 is for skewed odds (-115). For the time being, I'm sticking with props. If I take any play, it will be the over in one (or both) of the AFC matchups.

Oh, don't forget to take your free $10 bet. This week is:

Michael Vick's longest run from scrimmage Over/Under 24.5 yards

I never hit these so I took the over just for the heck of it. In case you're wondering how it works, you bet $10 on either side. If it wins, you win $10. If it loses, you get the $10 you laid out back.

I'm 1-4 on the freebies this year so I'm going to do a Castanza and go with the opposite of my first instinct, which in this case is the under.................

In case you haven't checked, the Bennett total yards prop is up to 60, so another 5 yards or so and we could have a nice middle..................

I think that's my record too!

Anyhoo, I try not to get greedy with middles. Typically, I only do it to hedge if I don't feel as confident and then hope to hit both. It would really have to rise significantly for me to take a crack at it. My feeling is, if Bennett goes over, it's going to be fairly significant.

New props should be up after noon tomorrow. If I remember to check, I'll update you with what I see.

For now, we both got the Ward & Bennett props at a good price. Was there anything else you took? Just let me know when you're ready to pull the trigger on others!

P.S.--You said no to the fee increase?!? Why? You're betting $100 a prop and can't sport the other $25 for the whole season to make things more interesting?

Here's the deal why I voted against the fee increase. One team said he was against it (but would still pay it) because he was in several pay leagues and the fees were beginning to add up. My own feeling was that if one person had an issue with the increase, then I would rather not increase the fee than have anyone uncomfortable with it and possibly drop out next year when we increase it again. Face it, the bragging rights are what we really play for, with the money being a trophy of sorts...................

Fee increase will probably pass anyway....................

Well, I put that near-$350 to good use, but I see your point.

Back to business: I did some research on the FGs in the Atlanta vs. St. Louis game. Not counting games where they didn't attempt (or make a field goal), both Jay Feely and Jeff Wilkins have hit 21 field goals Over 26.5 yards and just 11 field goals Under 26.5 yards. I may take the prop of "shortest FG to be Over 26.5". I'm not so worried that there will be chip shot attempts as I am that there may not be ANY FG attempts (and thus the under would cash). But I think a 66% edge is worth looking into. Let me know what you think.

I'm holding off because the number of other props should double-triple by later today (including our very profitable "longest completion" prop)! :pointstosky:

This is getting out of control. I think we may have a gambling problem and if we don't stop, it could ruin both our lives. I think it's time to show a little restraint, so ..........................

Gambling problem? Your only problem is not recognizing it even sooner!

The Bulger play is my largest. Hopefully, it won't backfire.

Card now stands at:

Ward total receiving yards Over 58

Bennett total receiving + rushing yards Over 57

Bulger longest completion Over 39

I have a lot riding on each, so I may play the weekend close to the vest otherwise. Only other one I'm considering is from Pinnacle and that is for the total of the Jets-Pitt game to be more than 30.5 points but less than 44.5. I like the potential totals that fall in this range. I'll make a decision in the next 24 hours or so.

Have those same three, Indy on the money line and a small bet on the winning score in Jets game to be exactly 3, so I'm pretty much done too. Interesting bet on the Jets-Steelers playing the middle. Would be a hard game to watch though because you want some scoring, but not too much. I would only bet it if I didn't plan on watching the game. Good luck this weekend and I appreciate your input, win or lose. Well, actually, I'll appreciate it more if we win...............

I hope so too considering the money I have on the games this weekend!

One more that I found (not a traditional prop, but more of a future prop--Found under NFL Player Futures » Top Quarter Back)

Quarterback to have the most passing yards this weekend

I don't like Manning's chances to emerge at the top of the list but love Daunte and Bulger at 7:2 odds each. Might be worth a $20-$25 throw down. Let me know what you think.

Warrick Dunn receiving + rushing yards Under 110.5 (I expect Vick and Duckett to take up a lot of the ground game--at least in theory)

Bennett total receiving + rushing yards Over 57

Greedy middle attempt:

Donovan McNabb Passing Yards Over 245.5 (-103)--Pinnacle

Donovan McNabb Passing Yards Under 256.5(-115)--Sportsbook

GO 250 yard day! :pointstosky:

Depending on whether or not I am getting killed, I'm keeping a close eye on Tom Brady longest completion Over 36.5 yards

If we're going to hit an unlucky streak, PLEASE don't let it be this week! Best of luck to us both buddy!

Yeah, this weekend isn't the time to be wrong. I went a little overboard but of course if I hit , good times. I looked at the Dunn bet too and thought it was a bit high considering he hasn't really been involved with the passing game much this year. I will bet something on it IF the Ward bet hits, otherwise no..............

Seems like you're having a good year betting. If you don't mind saying, how much are you up this year? I started with $300.00 left over from last year and was at $1100 and some change at the start of this week. Good year but down from a high of around $1900. Sunday night games just killed me this year, but it was my own fault betting on games that I really didn't have a feel for just because I wanted some action. Oh well, much better than last year where I don't think I was up all year...........................

I started off the season dropping $600 in the first two weeks, sat out for a few and then came back to build the profit of the bankroll to about $1000. I then hit a losing streak and was down to my final $125 when I put it all on a MNF prop (likely the longest completion). That hit and then I just had a solid run of props, college ball, and some ridiculously lucky middles. Through the "garbage Bowl games", I was at a season high of around $2200, then I got hit hard and was down to about $1500 (Auburn hurt...A LOT!)

Now, after a solid division series record and some nice hits during the week with NBA props (yes, I'm that addicted), I'm roughly up over $1800 on the season. If everything I have this weekend loses, I'll be up about a grand and then I really have to rethink my strategy. I've let my prop betting get a bit out of control and can really take a hit if I go "O-for". Let's just hope this doesn't happen!

Hines has 42 at the half which is amazing considering his QB. He has 5 targets and three catches while Burress has 6-7 targets and zero catches. Hey Ben, target Ward more. It's a tip.....................

Only 17 yards needed in the second half. Would have been nice to have the 10-yarder that Ward was wide open on and Big Ben bounced it at his feet. Steelers better hope that they don't fall behind and need him to rally them...............

Cashed!

You know, e, I'm getting mad greedy and spoiled! I was worried that we hadn't cashed by halftime because I'm so used to us getting the "hit" by the first quarter!

Nice start to the day and kudos for both of us for jumping on a skewed line nice and early!

Can only watch about the first quarter of the Rams game. A friend invited me to see the Sac Kings play the Clippers tonight and I forgot that there was a game. Would much rather watch football, but after a couple big beers, it should be fun. Might put a bet on the Clippers to make it enjoyable since I friggin hate the Kings. Fock, I do have a gambling problem.................... :o

Hope Bulger cashes early and way to go on the Ward bet....................

Hope you enjoyed the Kings game.

Let me know what you think about the following (only took the first one for the time being):

Alternate Total for Minny-Philly Over 53.5 (+202)--Weather will be fine. Philly will be rusty. Can't imagine why people are discounting both teams' abilities to score points.

Shortest FG of the Minny-Philly game Over 26.5 (-115)

Tom Brady Longest Completion Over 36.5 yards (-115)

Peyton Manning Longest Completion Over 43.5 yards (-115)

If you see anything else that stands out, let me know so we can discuss it. If you can, try to make yourself available on AIM. It's just easier to talk about things that way!

Got home late last night so I'm a bit slow this morning. Think I'll join you on the adjusted over for the Philly game. The others look good, but I have enough out today. I'll put my positive karma vibes out there so all your bets cover though.............

I got game updates on the Falcons-Rams last night and thought there might be a problem with the Dunn prop when I saw the score. That 64 yarder kind of did us in. They played Shawn Alexander tough last week (around 40 yards) and then give up a huge game to Dunn. Go figure................... I kind of feel responsible because I wasn't watching the game and using my mind control tactics to have Vick keep the ball away from Dunn..............

Good day ahead. Really looking forward to the Colts-Pats game just for the game itself. IMO, the winner of that game, wins it all.................

Enjoy....................

Hopefully, I don't end up giving back everything I made yesterday!

:wall: I kind of feel responsible because I wasn't watching the game and using my mind control tactics to have Vick keep the ball away from Dunn..............

Good day ahead. Really looking forward to the Colts-Pats game just for the game itself. IMO, the winner of that game, wins it all.................

Enjoy....................

Best of luck to you too, padnuh! :wall:

BTW, did you ever gett a bet in for the Kings' game?

:wall: No, decided to just enjoy hanging out with a friend, drinking some beers (3 24-ounce Coronas) and watching the women walk by...............

Couldn't find the adjusted total on Sportsbook. Did you bet that with another service? Good luck with it.....................

 No, decided to just enjoy hanging out with a friend, drinking some beers (3 24-ounce Coronas) and watching the women walk by...............

Nice!

Looks like you made the right move! Neither team doing much of anything to start. Then again, 34 points in the first half last week resulted in 47 total points, so who knows?

For future reference, Sportsbook created a new subsection for adjusted sides & totals. It is listed in the first column, third subsection down (NFL Props & Futures), first one in that subsection (NFL Adjusted Spreads & Totals).

Well, we got Ticed on the Bennett prop. That guy is amazing in his stupidity. Biggest game of the year and he has Moore on the field for a good portion of the game when he has barely played the last half of the season. No wonder that team finished 8-8 with the talent they have...............

The bet aside. Bennett ran the ball pretty well, but Tice never lets any of his RBs get a rythum. 8 carries for the game and played only the first series of the second half. I thought if Minnesota had ever committed to one back this season, they could have had a very good running game.

Oh well................................

Go Colts..................

e: You see ANYTHING we could work with here? The weather is making it a very difficult call. Was loving the Vick passing yards Under 165.5, but the odds dropped to -130 and now the total is 163.5 for the same lousy odds.

I think all I'll be going with is the moneyline on the Falcons, and I'm still hoping to get +200 on that one.

Looked at all the props last night and got nothing. The 165 is just too low to jump on for me but not confident that he will go over either. Like you said, weather makes it a tough call......................

Think I'm just going to go with a couple straight bets and take the Falcons and the Pats. I just think the Philly-Atlanta game will be close (maybe the exactly 3 final score prop would be good) and I will never bet against the Pats again, at least while Bellichek is the coach.
