Rams' Holt Misses Practice, Doubtful For Sunday

St. Louis, MO -- St. Louis Rams wide receiver Torry Holt missed practice Wednesday and is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game against Jacksonville.

Holt, who is tied for the NFL lead with 44 receptions, was inactive for last Sunday's 28-17 victory versus New Orleans.

The starter opposite Holt, Isaac Bruce, sat out practice and is questionable for Sunday's game. He has missed the last four games with turf toe.

Starting quarterback Marc Bulger has done light throwing all week and did not practice Wednesday. He missed the Saints game with a strained right shoulder and is listed as questionable on the injury report.

I love these injury reports, Holt goes from possibly playing last week to a no-show <_<

Makes you wonder about the reports

Can we litigate against false reports???

For as much as FF leagues do for the NFL, we should.

Hmm...start Curtis now? I am leery starting him bc he's playing Jax but he is at home and Holt is out now, not many other options. It's either Curtis or Mason along with Steve Smith. I'll be torn til Sunday, too bad Jaime Martin is so terrible or this would be much easier. <_<

Holt’s status is probably the most surprising of the group. After injuring his knee against Seattle, Holt finished the game and played the next week against Indianapolis. He was a late scratch against the Saints and did not practice Wednesday.

Holt said he is making progress, but he is listed as doubtful on the team’s injury report Wednesday afternoon.

Coach Joe Vitt said Holt’s status is going to remain up in the air until later this week.

“Right now, it’s too early to tell,” Vitt said.

I hope that he sits, hell sit two weeks out if he gets better. The Jags defense is pretty good and I personally would rather have him get better than take a pounding and be 70% for the rest of the season.

just let me know before kickoff so I can throw some scrub in there.

The quartet of Pro Bowlers who missed last Sunday's game also missed Wednesday's practice at Rams Park. With the Jacksonville Jaguars coming to town at 4-2 and fresh off impressive wins over AFC heavyweights Pittsburgh and Cincinnati, that's not good news for the Rams.

"I believe this is the best football team that we've played so far," Rams interim head coach Joe Vitt said. "We're going to have to play hard, physical football to win this game."

Having quarterback Marc Bulger, wideouts Isaac Bruce and Torry Holt, plus defensive end Leonard Little available would provide a significant boost. But their status is unclear.

Of the four, Little probably is the least likely to suit up Sunday at the Edward Jones Dome. He remains out of town with family members following the shooting death 10 days ago of his 24-year-old brother, Jermaine.Advertisement

Vitt, who talked with Little on Tuesday, said: "Leonard's struggling. He's grieving right now. Our football team, everybody here, is lending our support to him." Little will be given all the time he needs, Vitt added.

Holt, who has a strained knee ligament, was listed as doubtful Wednesday on the week's first injury report, which in NFL terms means there's only a 25 percent chance he'll play Sunday. Holt would say only that he was making progress.

Bruce, who has turf toe, and Bulger, who injured his shoulder against Indianapolis on Oct. 17, were listed as questionable. Bruce has missed four games but apparently plans to try to play Sunday.

Bulger threw Wednesday for the second time this week. Vitt said Bulger "was better today than he was last week." Asked if there was a chance he could play Sunday, Vitt said, "We'll have to wait and see. It's an ongoing process."

Injury list grows

Jamie Martin, who started in Bulger's place in the 28-17 win over New Orleans, also was on the injury report, listed as probable with neck soreness. He practiced Wednesday without any obvious difficulty.

Cornerback Travis Fisher and guard Claude Terrell, both first-teamers, also were probable. Fisher left Sunday's game late in the first quarter.

Terrell sprained his neck when the Rams scored on a fourth-and-goal play early in the fourth period. He experienced brief numbness and spent the night in a hospital.

Cornerback Chris Johnson, who also returns kicks, is questionable. Vitt said an MRI exam showed no structural damage to his injured back.

 Wow, I guess the pounding they took from the Colts will get even worse against "the best team" they've faced in Jax. I suppose the score will be even worse then, maybe 90-35.

So is the first step towards crushing that he said she said rumor that was going around about Holts season being over?

Good news for Curtis owners  I have used him all season even as #3 behind Holt and Bruce. Martin sucks, but Curtis will still get the looks. Best wire pickup for me all season.

My best friend's cousin's girlfirend knows this guy that works at Baskin & Robbins in St. Louis. The dude hasn't seen Holt in there for weeks. Holt can't even get up to get ice cream. DONE!
