Collins/Porter vs the Titans

Recommended Posts

"Quarterback Kerry Collins seems to save some of his best games for the Titans. In his last two starts against Tennessee, Collins has thrown for 654 yards with seven touchdowns and one interception"

Collins passed for 371 yards and five TDs, and Joey Porter had eight receptions for 148 yards and three scores, in the one matchup vs the Titans in the 04 season.

I am screwed by injury/bye to my other WR's, after he dropped that TD in the end zone last week, that was the last straw till I saw these numbers. I had him last year, he sucked for the 1st half of the 04 season, but then blew up in the 2nd half and finished with solid numbers. I think he is a bum now, but given Collins dominate play vs Titans in past two games, and throwing Porter the ball last year for his best game as a pro, can they at least hookup again for something like 100 yards and a TD?

Moss should play, but will be limited, does Collins look to Porter more given the huge game both had in last season's matchup vs Titans?

I keep waiting for JERRY Porter to break out. I have to chose between Porter and Kevin Curtis this week and I'm starting to lean towards Porter due to Curtis's match-up against the Jags.

A Raider besides Moss will have a breakout game but his name is Gabriel, not Porter.

Well he does manage at least 40 yards every week, so you'll have that going for you.

I cut him for the second time this year to pick up Kennison. He'll probably still be on WW when I get fed up with Randle El again next week.

Last year Porter had 1 TD through 11 weeks, then exploded for 8 TDs in 5 weeks, including 3 TDs twice.

9 TDs in '04 and '02, 1 in '03. Kind of looking like the latter so far in '05.

It is a decent matchup this week so worth a flyer if you haven't owned him yet.

BTW, both Gabriel and Porter had 12 looks in Week 6, and 7 looks each in Week 7. Neither scored in those two games, but Gabriel caught one more pass and 79 more yards:

Gabriel 10-185

Porter 9-106

Keep in mind the Freak is going to go for more than 14 plays this week.

I haven't seen the last two Raiders games, but is it fair to say that Gabriel takes over Moss' role when Moss is out? So if Moss is in there Gabriel is on the sidelines, unless he's in the slot with 3 wide-outs? Anyone been watching the games that understands his role. I own both Porter and Moss - and dropped Gabriel this past Monday (and held onto Mike Williams and Az-Zahir Hakim).

I am glad I started him, it's good I came across that info, cause I was about to drop him.
