Saturday Night Beaver Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 what did you think of the show? Quote
-jb- Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 wifey and i gave it a shot last night. only good part was when paxton stuck tripplehorn with his pfizerpenis. the look on her face was priceless. paxton is a terrible, terrible actor, though...unless he's playing a giant pepperoni pizza. Quote
davebg Posted March 13, 2006 Author Posted March 13, 2006 what did you think of the show? I thought it was OK...not greta, but OK. I'd give it a few more weeks. I kind of feel like I did when I first saw Deadwood...didn't love it, but there were some really interesting things I liked or at least was interested to see more of. IMNSHO Deadwood is one of, if not THE, best shows on TV, so the patience paid off. I mean, it wasn't like when I watched the first episode of Rome and knew right away that I didn't like it. I really liked the character interaction between the wives and that preacher man/cult leader/Tony Soprano wannabe (who is also wife #2's "father") could make for some nice plot twists. ETA: One thing I didn't like was how we didn't get to see any boobage, but, at one point when he was in bed w/wife #1, I swear I saw cawk. Quote
brinett9 Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 I thought the way HBO tried to package it as a "Sopranos/Big Love Premiere Night" was hilarious. "Please, oh Dear God please watch this other show. This is the last season of The Sopranos, after which HBO will be going down the toilet faster than a Tijuana buffet breakfast." Quote

Yes... ...b/c HBO really was hurting for the last 21 MONTHS! Quote
Saturday Night Beaver Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 I thought it was ok too. Nothing special. Quote
GiantsRule Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 Big Snore. Nothing interesting at all and the only real eye candy is the oldest daughter. I still don't understand why this is an HBO show. They can't curse (to uphold their status as devout Mormons), they don't show nudity (unless you count Bill Paxton's rear), and the Viagra bit was less racy than scenes on old NYPD Blue episodes or recent airings of Nip|Tuck. Me thinks HBO lied about the "best new show of the year" comments. And that bothers me because he would expect network executives to tell anything but the truth? Quote

Don't forget to add that we got to see his facial expressions when he was supposedly getting a B.J. Just before his impotence set in. I wasn't real sure what to make of the show. I ended up turning it off and going to bed without watching the final 20 minutes. I'll probably give it another chance next week, but so far it's just not doing much for me. Quote
redtodd Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 I couldn't finish it. I thought it was painfully boring. Chloe is over-rated. Quote
